Mate, I think this is one of the best walks you've filmed....we've walked a lot around here when our lads were younger., the quarries around Ashover (and the walk up to Ashover Rock).....started & finished at The Old Poets Corner in the village. Incredible how much history there is around there & huge respect to Phil for his research & expertise ...fantastic to see the lite rail embankment....back in the day when we walked around there I wouldn't have had a clue.... Many Thanks
That was absolutely brilliant Gaz! Chockablock full of worldies that one! And well done to uncle Phil to for organising it! Think I’ll do a vid there in a couple of days haha!!!
@@IckeWalks Yes, I walk the 5 pits, but haven't looked too much into the history. I'm sure there will be stories of the collieries and lines. I've been here 30 years, but grew up in Barlborough, so used to play on the old train lines there 'the monies'! All getting built on now. 😔
Loved this video and the efforts you make. Another old industrial place to stomp would be the old Coking plant at wingerworth. A lot of this site has been reclaimed and there’s housing but might be worth an explore.
Thanks for the tip off....I think Gareth did a solo effort up there a while back ? Anyway one thing for sure, it would smell a lot better theses days compared to how I remember it in the mid 80s !
Great content Gareth I'm lucky enough to live in Stockton on tees birthplace of the railway would be great to see you do something for the 2025 anniversary
Great central in Leicester, and Ventnor West line on the Isle of Wight. They're actually the two most popular ones so show up in that most popular section.
Let me know next time you visit gregory mine ... I've found the mineshaft under a foot of earth as it's been thirty years since I last saw it . Went we shovel and memories and found it exactly as I remember . Shone torch down and it's gritstone lined and 100foot plus straight down.. don't know who to tell I've tried research and it could be the mine known as the sough around 1750 so before the lead chimney which is low down on the site..
Interesting stuff,Paul. It doesnt suprise me that there are shallow buried shafts on that site...and on plenty more for that matter ! I may have a contact that would be interested. I will PM you on FB later.
Wow there's so much going on around there! Them lime kilns are a bit fancy pants ain't they. You gotta get Phil a microphone he's got lots of interesting stuff to say! Can you get a PO box so we can send you junk I mean useful stuff. Can you swim in them lagoons? I suppose you could leave a bit of chromed metal in emm an if it's stripped best give em a miss. Cheers fantastic great fun.
Thank you! I was using my phone up until just before Christmas. Smashed the camera after litererally just having a conversation about needing to upgrade but not having the money. Fate. Using a Sony ZF-1F
@stevenberryhill9209 1 second ago Is there a way I can find downloads of the intro music for these videos? Really like the music and would want to download full songs of this music if available. And btw, if I were able, I’d be like Phil, wanting to try out ropes and this and that 😉
I’ve walked around there a little seen the lines in the road and that big quarry but you have shown me so much more must go back I think 👍
It's a lovely place. Drove through today with the littleun and spotted another couple of bits en route. Could easily go back.
What a fantastic walk - so much info and history. Love these walks and thank you all for bringing them to us x
Thank you!
Well done Phil! Beautiful views and scenery, and interesting finds!
Great walk this one.
Blimey...that sure was a jam packed walk !
Sure was. Reckon there is a tonne more hiding there, too.

Thanks a lot mate. It's amazing how much you drive and walk past, without realising. Every day is a school day for me these days.
From Huthwaite, I love these videos. Your dad subscribed to my channel years ago, I couldn’t believe it.
Thats awesome mate. You still there?
@@IckeWalks yes. we're keen metal detectorists, we've got permissions all over tibshelf, Huthwaite, ripley. you're welcome to join us anytime.

Lots of nice little surprises. Phil's brave climbing on that rope haha
I will go in that cave sooner or later! Its just not very high or wide once you get up on that ledge
Thanks mate,

This is my go to walk being as it's so close, I live in Holmewood. I can do it now with Fresh eyes! 👀 Thank you so much 👍🏼

Great walk again lads . If you like lime kilns etc you want to get up to Moira furnace
That looks great. Definitely one for the list!
Another great video, lots to see and you did manage to include some tail lines.
Tail lines? I am thinking about computers now.
@@IckeWalks With a cataract in one of my eyes and surgery this summer, I didn’t catch my typo for rail lines. But it did add a new twist…
