Of course TTG made more money than Mao Mao. They didn't LET Mao Mao make money.
@murderman8578 Mao Mao is Sanrio for nerds and Sanrio makes BANK. They needed merch; the network screwed up. Same as when Disney didn't merchandise The Owl House and only realized it was a power house after they cancelled it.
I was OBSESSED with this show when it came out! I remember just waiting and waiting for more episodes before realizing it had been cancelled. I still have no idea why they'd cancel such a good show. I wish we'd had more time with the characters and to finish his arc.
And now most of it has been removed from Max, so regardless of whether you're a fan of TTG or not, the entire CN lineup is at risk. Even its equivalent of SpongeBob isn't safe.
I really miss this masterpiece of a TV series, I loved how funny and charming it is from the animation, to the writing, the characters it is and will always be great and have a special place in my heart along with all the other great cartoons from early and late 2000s to 2010s from Cartoon Network Studios. It makes me so sad that this show was cancelled before it could finish telling the whole story, it feels like Spectacular Spider-Man all over again.
Friggin loved this show! Mao Mao filled the void i wanted after Regular Show/ Steven Universe ended. Your absolutely right that we all got robbed of its greatness!!😭
Mao Mao used to be a huge comfort show for me and it still is. What CN did is honestly unfair and cruel to Parker who believed in what he worked on. I hope the show can somehow continue again. I wonder if there's something we can do
Same!! This and OK KO! Both were just... wholesome, funny, and deep in their own ways. When I was stressed with the weight of the world coming into my time as a young adult, I'd turn to these shows for a bit to calm down. They were my "safe" shows, and they meant a lot to me. I love anything animated and produced with heart, but I'm so tired of those kinds of shows being put down. The animation industry is dying, while independent projects are rising above. I don't know where the executives get the idea that these actions will benefit their networks, but I certainly hope it will be their downfall at this point.
Im genuinely so pissed at the disrespect of this show there was a royal fanbase and if they had promoted it more they wouldve made more money, the disrespect of art is disgusting
11:47 Holy crap i didnt expect Jay to dicuss about Motorcity in this video that show deserves a lot of attention so I'm glad he is giving the attention it needs. Also I didn't know that the creator of Mao Mao worked on the animation of the show. It just shows how much of a legend he is, because the animation of Motorcity is probably the best animation for a Disney show. [Yes I even think the animation and art style for Motrocity is better than the one from by favourite show, Gravity Falls, as it looks less generic] The show's art style is just perfect for the show's badass theme. It sucks that Disney cancelled it, they even had no justified reason for why they cancelled it, and it sucks because the show had a lot of potential. Just like Wander Over Yonder, the show was planned to get another season, even its respective crestors were writing its next season before Disney patted them in the back to announce it is cancelled with no word. It's just backstabbing, which shows that they are disrespecting the creators of their shows, that they put a lot of hard work into. This also applies to CN and how they cancelled OK K.O, Mao Mao, and Infinity Train, so I would say without a doubt that CN is becoming the new Disney Channel/XD in terms of how they cancel shows left and right for no reason. Not to mention that even as a kid, I never got to watch Motorcity, since Disney XD barely even advertised it. It's not that I was too young, I was literally watching the channel sometimes in 2012 and 2013, it's that the channel forgets to advertise it, and I don't even know if they were airing new episodes in my country, I don't even know if they aired the whole season in my country. It sucks now because I wasn't aware about the show's existence until 2023. How sad is that? I haven't even got the time to watch it ever since then, in which I am planning to watch it around next year or the year after, since I am binging over shows. It's still a cool show.
I loved it. I'm so sad it was suddenly cancelled. I don't even think the last few episodes aired, I only ever saw clips of them online. The creator and voice of Mao Mao still posts drawings of the show. I love the artstyle so much and the characters and stories were pretty entertaining and knew what it wanted to be.
Didn't think i'd see this cartoon again, i forgot how much i liked it before i stopped watching TV, now after hearing comments saying that this show is cancelled i feel genuinely sad.
I am so glad people like you actually talk about this shows existence. I've been a fan of mmhoph since it's announcement and release in back 2019 and I still to this day continue to post mao mao fanart just to try and make the fandom a bit active. Even if season 2 might not be possible, every once in a while I would re-watch the 1st season to feel that nostalgia again.
I still wish, well, a lot with this show; but one of the things I wish we saw was Mao Mao's sisters. They were so seeped in mystery and literal shadow in Mao Mao (known unreliable narrator)'s flashbacks. I really wanted to know more about the 5 legendary heroes Mao Mao most compared himself to when the show was airing; to the point I remember being disappointed the first family member we met in person was his dad. (Although I guess that ended up being the right call in hindsight; if we only ever got to meet one of Mao Mao' family member, it should've been Shin Mao.)
You've successfully convinced me this is the greatest show ever made and I'm annoyed it was cancelled. Haven't been this upset about a show since Infinity Train.
I love how even this comprehensive videos missed the massive "TM-Anon" leaks that occurred on 4chan just days after the more famous Season 2 leaks, correctly predicting the cancellation and CN's recent plans and causing a twitter fiasco when an employee accidentally confirmed the leaks.
I LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH. I remember coming back to it later and seeing it got *cancelled.* Utterly heartbreaking, I have such a passion for this dang show.
I hate when good shows keep getting axed, especially for no good reason, not officially informing us of their cancellations or because they think it will help save them money.
Correction: it did almost every show post-2015 dirty, regardless of quality. I guarantee you there are some CN shows that came out you've never heard of, like Tig 'n Seek, Long Live the Royals, Victor and Valentino, Villainous, etc.
@@SecretMagician It's crazy that we're 10 years now past 2015, but that is indeed pretty much Cartoon Network in a nutshell for the past decade. Cancelled short-lived good shows and Teen Titans Go! constantly airing.
What show should I make a Rise video on next? BUY ME A KO-FI PLEASE: ko-fi.com/alphajayshow Extra Notes: - These type of videos won't be called specifically "Rise and Fall" videos, but rather just "Rise" videos for now. - There were a lot other notes directly from Parker but it was behind a Channel Membership paywall, that outside of getting one direct quote, I'd like to respect by not showing anything from. - Parker is now an executive producer at Titmouse, which is a good full circle. - In 2019, Gumball was "ending" for the most part, and Mao Mao was starting, and I covered the show quite a bit. I wanted it to be the next main focus of the channel, so this video is somewhat of a way to give it the flowers I've always wanted to.
Netflix's Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters. NO ONE talks about that show, despite the huge talent behind it, it cane out around 2017 and was just forgotten by the public at large despite having two seasons and an interactive episode. It was created by Victor Cook (Spectacular Spider-Man), Kevin Burke and Chris Wyatt (Avengers Assemble), and starred Scott Menville, Steven Yeun, Ogie Banks, Wil Wheaton, Keith David, Miguel Ferrer, etc. I'd love it if a relatively big name like yourself talked about it, considering you talked about Elliott from Earth and Glitch Techs.
I don't think I'll ever get over what happened to Mao Mao, it's such a great show that got cancelled before it could reach it's true potential, also deep down I feel like the show is about a kinda tough guy hero who wants to be a good hero but struggles because he deals with the trauma of how he was raised, and with his friends he learns how to get through it, I love it

It was at this moment when this show alongside Infinity train summer camp Island and Victor and Valentino being canceled I had completely lost any faith and support for Warner Bros in Cartoon Network. And that loss of faith has only been deepened by HBO Max careless purging of all of Cartoon Network's most beloved Classics
We stopped paying for cable for almost 3 years ago due to the price and I'm not always at home due to college, I always assumed Mao Mao has a ton of new ep now like Bluey and might binge watch it at some point but damn... But atleast it gave me fun moments watching it when it still aired...
Thank you for talking about this show, I’ve held this animated series close to my heart since it was announced. I remember when my teachers would get mad and even scold me for drawing during class and complain to my parents, who would thankfully defend me. Art was something that learned how to express myself (quite literally since I at one point was mute), so drawing was basically my therapy to deal with my emotions It's honestly sweet and sad to hear someone who made an amazing show go through something similar with teachers. Even when it was an episode I already saw, I loved it just the same.

The other didn't
@@murderman8578 One was given hours a day every day. The other wasn't.
One released new episodes on a time slot that was easily accessible. The other didn't.
One had lots of merch made. The other didn't.
One had marathons that literally took up more time than they had episodes for an entire week. The other didn't.
One made multiple episodes telling people that if they didn't like the show they were stupid. The other was near universally praised.
Seriously that's such an unfair comparison.
@@DoveJSseriously the show is ridiculously marketable, they're just stupid and what pisses me off the most is that it couldve been saved.
@Nik0__ EXACTLY!
I was OBSESSED with this show when it came out! I remember just waiting and waiting for more episodes before realizing it had been cancelled. I still have no idea why they'd cancel such a good show. I wish we'd had more time with the characters and to finish his arc.
Remember Teen Titans GO took almost every slot so no one could watch a good show so someone had to go.
usually why I dont watch yt tv, and streaming instead
like I needed more reasons to hate that show
And now most of it has been removed from Max, so regardless of whether you're a fan of TTG or not, the entire CN lineup is at risk. Even its equivalent of SpongeBob isn't safe.
i always went to a different channel when teen titan go started playing, never liked the show Teen Titans Go it was trash
@@alexandersergal *Is trash
0:24 Wait I Didn’t Know It Ended on a Cliffhanger 😮
Yeah, the episode "Zing" was supposed to be the last episode but the airing order was off from the production order.
I don't know where the executives get the idea that these actions will benefit their networks, but I certainly hope it will be their downfall at this point.
i loved mao mao so much.. my FAVORITE show when i was a kid. im still upset about it sometimes
This show was in the middle of two mergers, it realistically stood no chance. 😿
❤
My heart sank when it was gone! I fell in love with it episode 1!! They were horrible to cancel this AWESOME show!!
Absolutely love the quality of your videos and this is a banger upload Alpha :D
I MISS THIS SHOW SO MUCH!😭
Yet another victim of the cancellation curse😞
i had such a crush on mao mao…
No way! 😮
I did too! ❤😊
Mao Mao was my go to show every time I come home from school
Im genuinely so pissed at the disrespect of this show there was a royal fanbase and if they had promoted it more they wouldve made more money, the disrespect of art is disgusting
What I learned from canceled shows like these is that if I ever want to make a cartoon is to never pitch it to Cartoon Network.
Stuff like this is why I hope Indie animation becomes far bigger than it is now.
This is as early as I’ve ever been! Hyped to see what you have to say.
Didn't think i'd see this cartoon again, i forgot how much i liked it before i stopped watching TV, now after hearing comments saying that this show is cancelled i feel genuinely sad.
I enjoyed Mao Mao, the show had potential, I was confused when it was coming on anymore
I watched it when my kids were too little to enjoy it.
Now they are old enough and it's gone. I know they would love it now. Such a great show...
THIS IS SO REAL AND I'VE BEEN STUCK IN THIS THOUGHT PROCESS FOR NEARLY THE PAST FOUR YEARS. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT TO WORDS
You've successfully convinced me this is the greatest show ever made and I'm annoyed it was cancelled. Haven't been this upset about a show since Infinity Train.
This show is still one of my favorites because of the comedy, heart, voice acting and animation. Not getting more of it was so heartbreaking to me..
Props to the show taking a dig at CN airing Teen Titans Go one too many times
I'm happy that you’ve returned your Rise and Fall.
Me too.
One of my, if not the favorite video of yours. Nicely done. 👍
I LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH.
I remember coming back to it later and seeing it got *cancelled.* Utterly heartbreaking, I have such a passion for this dang show.
SOMEONE FINALLY TALKED ABOUT THIS SHOW.
This was like a walk down memory lane, seeing all these episodes in analyzed detail.
If it came out just 1 year earlier I bet we would've gotten season 2 at least.
I hate when good shows keep getting axed, especially for no good reason, not officially informing us of their cancellations or because they think it will help save them money.
CN did this show, OK KO and Infinity Train dirty 💀
Correction: it did almost every show post-2015 dirty, regardless of quality. I guarantee you there are some CN shows that came out you've never heard of, like Tig 'n Seek, Long Live the Royals, Victor and Valentino, Villainous, etc.
@SecretMagician I have heard of some these but I forgot they existed
@BluePyramidCipher exactly.
@@SecretMagician It's crazy that we're 10 years now past 2015, but that is indeed pretty much Cartoon Network in a nutshell for the past decade. Cancelled short-lived good shows and Teen Titans Go! constantly airing.
I miss this show so much ❤
R.I.P Mao Mao
Salute to the fallen soldier! 🫡
I literally cried when I realized it was cancelled
What show should I make a Rise video on next?
BUY ME A KO-FI PLEASE: ko-fi.com/alphajayshow
Extra Notes:
- These type of videos won't be called specifically "Rise and Fall" videos, but rather just "Rise" videos for now.
I don't think I'll ever get over what happened to Mao Mao, it's such a great show that got cancelled before it could reach it's true potential, also deep down I feel like the show is about a kinda tough guy hero who wants to be a good hero but struggles because he deals with the trauma of how he was raised, and with his friends he learns how to get through it, I love it
Man I loved this show when it used on show on Cartoon Network it was my favorite show
oh hour long video essays about cartoons how i love you
mao mao was such a good show and i was so sad when i realized it wasn't gonna get an ending of any kind. (probably. i think its been too long now i doubt itll happen)
the backstory behind mao mao is so great, thanks for making this video^^
Watching this video just reminds me how much I loved Mao Mao and how much I miss it :')
I'll never forgive the execs that what they did to such a great, funny, and just all around fantastic show.
Could really feel the love for the show in this video and makes me appreciate all the love and hard work put into the show by it's creator and crew even more, amazing work!
Hopefully someday it might come back, but until then I think I'll just rewatch some episodes when I have time :)
I genuinely really liked this show. It was a good action comedy for actually having some action with some nice choreography and animation. The characters are just as important, all being pretty fun and entertaining to see interact with ANYONE lol. This was my 2nd fav show at the time, it’s so unfortunate this got canned…Atleast OKKO got to continue a bit longer, but my two goats deserved more
OH MY GOD FINALLY SOMEONE IS TAKING ABOUT THIS SHOW !! I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THIS VIDEO
I legit cried a bit watching this
Thank you
46:02 this kinda references what Parker said about the teachers not wanting him to draw on the back of the worksheet
I really liked this show. First show in a long time from CN to really entertain me since the end of Regular show and adventure time. I thought the future of CN would be alright, but i guess it's all burning down now. Such a shame
sister: "you should go to art school"
him: "you can do that...? there's a school for art?
sister: "yeah you have to leave here to do that"
him: "oh..." i died😂😂😂
He also made that Dr Mario animation we all know and love. The Dr Mario song.
Ya mean the one where he says that he is saving lives???
@ yep!
@@IceClimbersiX The guy that made Mao Mao. Made this song? Ain’t no way dudes.
@ yes
I loved this show. I didn’t know it got cancelled
You should do an ep on Glitch Techs’ cancellation and fade to obscurity
We love you Mao Mao, and hopefully one day our dreams can finally come true, so we can see you, see your heroic heart shine through!
(ye its the mao mao theme ref)
I weep for this show. It was my favorite thing Cartoon Network had put out since Regular Show
This was actually one of the few present CN show that i actually enjoyed and thought it was underrated and deserved much more. Amazing animation, story telling, amazing backgrounds, enjoyable and solid characters with good desings. CN is killing actually good shows!
I really wanted to see how the series would have continued..
Mao Mao genuinely did not deserve to be canceled. CN really did the show dirty, and that's unforgivable
Saved to watch at a decent time here in Germany. - Done, great video! So sad we did not get a second season :(
We stopped paying for cable for almost 3 years ago due to the price and I'm not always at home due to college, I always assumed Mao Mao has a ton of new ep now like Bluey and might binge watch it at some point but damn... But atleast it gave me fun moments watching it when it still aired...
Thank you for talking about this show, I’ve held this animated series close to my heart since it was announced. I remember seeing the previews for it as a 8th grader and counting down the days because I absolutely fell in love. I have so much fanart and wonderful memories surrounding this show, it actually helped me make friends as a very introverted a shy kid. I still hold it very dear to my heart and make fanart for it, Its a shame it never got a second season.
if you do a short with better pacing of badgerclops eating food i will rewatch it forever
I don’t excuse the parents. They choose to have that many kids. No one was forcing them.
@@Fairygirl-q6g fr I hate it when parents have segs too much and end up having too many kids but then go "oh we have it so hard". Like you did this to yourselfs bruh. And kids suffer because of that too
I remember this show this show Kind of shaped the way I look at humor and shows as a whole And also the reason why I tried to push forward When I have aren't blocks or question why I love doing artwork or a passion I have Because sometimes that is what happens And so I keep pushing forward even though I don't upload my animations I'm thinking about making 1 now Watching this The gears in my head are starting to turn is I watching it even now I just had to make a comment about it This dude is 1 of the living legends in my mind forever Up there with Stanley And the creators of sonic and Scott coffin And also Corey those people created the way I look at the world the way I look at the stuff I made And think about the impact I wanna make on people and the way I want to inspire
The fact I just found this video and cartoon network canceled pissed me off. This is my kind of cartoon. They canceled this but still have teen titans go still on tv?!
I remember when my teachers would get mad and even scold me for drawing during class and complain to my parents, who would thankfully defend me. Art was something that learned how to express myself (quite literally since I at one point was mute), so drawing was basically my therapy to deal with my emotions
It's honestly sweet and sad to hear someone who made an amazing show go through something similar with teachers. It makes me a little happy having something in common with the creator of the show.
And I'm honestly so sad that CN canceled the show, it was one of the things I actually looked forward to watching. Even when it was an episode I already saw, I loved it just the same.
The fact we lost an entire generation of Cartoon Network shows is depressing. All that’s left on that TV network is reruns of old shows or spinoffs of old shows. It’s really sad. I think it definitely had a chance to stand up with the previous CN generations.
😢 I loved that Show...
