Really love this series. It’s like looking thru a microscope. Bruno Mars is the upgraded version of Michael Jackson. Nice licks and distortion. Pop with a bluesy influence. That’s what separates him from other pop singers. I don’t get it why majority of producer use auto tune on great singers like him. Is it a standard now these days? Great character/attitude singing. Also love the version of sir Ken on this song with a rock flavor.
Thanks for this one Ken! I was purposely late to listen to Bruno Mars because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a fad but then over time I began to listen to his music and was amazed by his vocals and by how much I really liked a lot of his songs, this being my favorite of his.
You picked the perfect song....❤️ I’d like to see Bruno Mars sing this in his 50s. When it might be real. He will blow our socks off once the experience is there... ( I’m talking about the emotion, his voice is epic!)
5:40 I don't know about the autotune. It sounds like autotune, but I've heard singers actually sound like that with their natural voice (I think it's because the younger generation emulates the autotuned voices they hear on records by finding new vocal techniques)
Another great one Sir, you're awesome. To me the best younger artists are the storytellers. They connect with us. Not just repeat verse repeat chorus dance & hook generators driven by label provided producer teams. Bruno is the real deal. Artistry before production instead of vica versa. Dance music is great to dance to. But storyteller songs are timeless. Paul Davis, Al Green, Carole King, Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, Christopher Cross, Maria Carey, Keith Urban, Melissa Etheridge, Phil Collins, Jewel, Elton John, Toni Braxton, Babyface, Sara McLachlan, Luther Vandross. So many. Rock classics as well. Thanks for all you share Ken !!!
Hey Ken! Only 55K more for 1 million subs. Congrats on a great channel. Bruno has an incredible voice. Very talented. Thanks Ken for yet another awesome video.😎
Hi there today Ken, I can't say it enough, you are light years ahead of most singers past n present ! Anyway Rod Stewart comes to my mind, far as a unique vocal approach, I think he elevated pop/rock music, although he wasn't my "cup of tea" (pun intended), but still great none the less. And Bruno Mars is great n totally gifted, alot like Mike. Lol

I'm very sceptical these days with so many "outstanding" artists, technology is embellishing probably more than we realise all in the name of big profit for big organisations. Big organisations have killed so much decent music. Ken keeping it real as always!
Hey, I really like what you're doing here. I'd like to see more. You should analyse his raw music. "All About You", "Voices In My Head", or even "Again". That would be cool. : ) Thanks for making these videos. They help out a lot.
I think the parts you pinpoint as autotune are actually just a stylistic choice he's doing, basically a two note run lol, I do it all the time, I guess maybe because when you grow up hearing heavily autotuned singers you tend to just mimic it sometimes (probably the same with bruno) they don't sound robotic enough to me to be autotune, obvious autotune corrections like that always seem to have that distinct wah pedal type of sound effect going on with them, to me those notes just sound like natural singing but who knows, maybe I'm wrong, I don't necessarily consider autotune to be a BAD thing anyway provided you aren't RELIANT on it
Country singer Chris Young often sounds autotuned but he isn't. He just has that kind of a voice. You should do one of these series videos on one of his songs!
Sometimes bits and pieces of recorded vocals sound like they had autotune on them, but they don't. now, I'm not saying they didn't use it in that particular Song, but I was stumbling across this when I was about to edit my own tracks. I hadn't used autotune yet and it already sounded very technical in the original track. I was wondering if there was something wrong within my recording chain or if younger people are just so used to this autotune sound, that they recreate robotic phrasing. Very strange. maybe someone had the same problem before?
Hello there! Super series, thanx a lot for what you're doing!! You have already analysied some of my favourite singers, but what do you think of doing one about Ray Gillen or Roberto Tiranti (especially on Return to heaven denied)? Thanx again and great job!
Hey Ken!!!! Loved the way you broke down the song... I hear it now 😂 Also could you please please please please do one one Whitney Houston's "I have nothing" Thank you Keep up the good work !!!
Awesome vid Ken you're awesome!!!! Love these series of isolated vocals!!! Do a video about Robert Smith from the Cure please!!!! Why can't I be you maybe?
Bruno is flawless but I'm a little bit biased I guess I would love to hear you do more Bruno, he's just beyond amazing. BTW he wrote it for Jessica when she left.... it must have worked though because she came back and they've been together for 11 years.
This guy is a talent among a lot of mediocrity in modern music. I listened to him for the first time a few months ago and thought he had such a beautiful tone to his voice. A very talented singer and songwriter. Ken would you be able to do an isolated vocal on Adam Lambert? Possibly his recording of Believe by Cher?
Hey Ken. From someone as prestigious as yourself I was hoping you would have broken down the obvious hard parts of this song for the average male singer. Such as the belting and higher notes in the chorus. It was a bit of a disappointing tutorial to be honest and I don't feel like you really taught us much at all, as was in your description. "When I was your man" is a song I'm learning to challenge my vocals and really discovering how to get those belt notes and mix notes without carrying tension. That would have been more powerful content to create, it would be great to see another revision! Cheers.
@@maredyt5168 bruh are you mixing? Cause C#5 is a hella high note for a baritone if you only sing in chest. F4 is a decent belt if you havent trained you voice that much👍
Producer: How do I make this guy, feel like I'm earning my points? Revelation: I'll throw some unnecessary Autotune, and break the contiguous vocal lines up with, some sloppy punches. Record lable: Ok, cool. We'll take a kickback of 20%. Bruno: whatever man, I wanna get out on the road;
I really enjoyed your reactions. I learned a lot. Thank you so much. You are great! Hope you react on Leave the Door Open and Skate for #silksonic. Gonna be awesome.
Ken I have your singing course and I’m on my journey! I’d love you to do a review of the rock group ‘Greta Van Fleet’ you have to hear them - Led Zep like. 🤝

Love an old school rock lookin dude who respects ALL music. You’re great :)
Awesome!
You gotta be the most educated man in voice. Bruno ‘s a rare example of actual music in today’s pop.
He's great!
Love Bruno Mars...
Time for "Leave the Door Open" evaluation. His vocals have changed and a darn good song. Much more open vocals.
Thanks for the suggestion, Julie!
