It’s called survival. The kid definitely did a good thing if the end game is to keep you and your family alive. Unfortunately, like most kids in urban America, they become conditioned to believe that it’s actually the right thing to do so they embrace it fully. Dad in this film wasn’t reinforcing bad behavior. But just like a lot of great parents in the hood they lose their babies to the streets because sometimes doing wrong yields rewards to the point where it seems like you’re doing something right.
My late grandfather was actually an extra for this movie. I saw it myself and I actually got to see him somewhere off in the background. It’s been a couple years since I saw this movie and I’d watch it many times over again. Truly an excellent film.
Crazy how as a kid I'd watch this movie and see nothing cool about Deniros character. Now I'm older and I can really see how he's actually the strongest most badass guy in the movie. I never had a dad around to teach me this stuff so unfortunately the streets is what attracted me. I really made a mess of things. Any fathers reading this just know there aren't enough words to describe how important you are to your kids. Respect to all you working men living honest lives, yall are the real badasses.
His dad must have taught him to see, don't see. Hear , don't hear and know and don't know. He should have also taught him that his look can tell everything,

Yep it’s super complex and awesome. Obviously the dad is righteous, Wants his son to tell the truth, but at the same time, he has to protect his family from mafia. It’s not like a super hero story, where the kid tells the truth, and dad takes down the mob. He’s an average man
Well, it is a crime in NYC to effectively stop a crime in progress. You're not allowed to protect someone being attacked, you'll outshine the cops if you do their job for them.
Also a man was violently stabbed years ago on the subway while the cops who were pursuing him just watched until he subdued he guy stabbing him. NYC Supreme Court ruled they don’t have an obligation to protect you
@@ofallnames There was also another case where a girl was upstairs in her apartment, and someone broke into the house and was trying to get upstairs to kill her. The cops were outside and did nothing, lady ended up shooting the guy. She sued the police department and lost. @@jinx20001 but they saw that the kid say instantly no to the other ones bit with the last one he took q long time but he said no that isn't suspicious to you
@@pina_colada14 it just does not matter at all, if a witness says no to testifying then you have no evidence at all which is why you might hear the saying “are you willing to testify to that”… the police may know that you know something but without you willing to testify they have nothing.
The cops already knew it was sonny they needed a witness to ID him and the kid, no matter how long it took him, said it wasnt Sonny. Its why the cop was so frustrated when he sent him away.
The kid still said no, even if they knew it was him they can't do anything without a witness explicitly saying it's him since it's the only piece of evidence.
I have a feeling that Araki had the inspiration for Giorno Giovanna's childhood backstory is based on the scene. For those who never read the manga or watch the anime, Giorno's childhood was that he lived with an abusive step-father and was bullied at school by a gang. However, it all changed when Giorno saved a Mafioso from the cops. Because of this, the Mafioso repayed Giorno by threatening his step-father to not beat him, have the gang of bullies be nicer to him, and have the townspeople more kinder to him. When Giorno grew older, his dream is become a Mafioso and overthrow the boss to stop the drug trade so innocent people won't be harmed. Seeing that the Bronx Tale movie was made at 1993 and the JoJo part 5 manga was made at 1995, Araki must have an inspiration from Bronx tale.

The kid grows up working for the mobster. He becomes involved bc he likes the money, lifestyle, girls etc. It spirals into chaos. Idolized the mobster over his dad. I can't remember how it ended but it was not a rainbow and sunshine ending and the dad wasn't protected/taken care of.
But on the other hand, fuck the police. Never tell them anything.

Well, it is a crime in NYC to effectively stop a crime in progress. You're not allowed to protect someone being attacked, you'll outshine the cops if you do their job for them.
Daniel Penny agrees, tried to subdue a violent crackhead and is facing jail because of it
Seriously?? Man that’s messed up
Also a man was violently stabbed years ago on the subway while the cops who were pursuing him just watched until he subdued he guy stabbing him.
Courts said that the only person that has an obligation to protect yourself, is yourself.
Then people call us crazy for owning guns...
@@YouMissedBrohe didn’t try to subdue the man, he tried to kill him. You don’t put someone in a chokehold for that long unless you want them dead. It’s called a CHOKE hold.
Lil bro looked him 10 seconds straight and they didn't think it was him???
You could look at him for 10 minutes straight and it wouldn't matter, no eye witness is no eye witness regardless of what they suspect. They know he did it, they gotta prove it.

"And Giorno lied."
This movie is “A Bronx Tale” …hope this helps those who are wondering.

It's funny how it is the first thing I thought about
