Babymetal is not new to songs that are all over the places! Like for "Iine" that's just simply a big WTF effect, or "Tales of the Destinies", that's a full on prog song, with numerous tempo changes!!
Good reaction - looks like Kobametal was holding out and teasing us with the first releases being among the 'softer' of the songs on the album. This one definitely has some Prog elements and lots of time signature changes etc that those who are not so familiar with Prog may have a hard time keeping up with ... you still have some surprises to come from the tracks you haven't heard yet.🦊
This is BM scratching their prog metal itch again. Other examples are "Rondo of Nightmare", "The One" and their best song "Tales of the Destinies". I also like the themes of duality, good and bad and the existential questions. The "Macbeth" quotes are chanted by the 3 witches...which might be an allusion to the past and maybe future make up of BM.
Not my favourite song because although it is very good, it takes me a while to appreciate the prog elements. My brain has trouble with the changes in prog. Tales of the Destinies (TOTD) was an earlier song by BABYMETAL that I had trouble with but later enjoyed it after seeing the live version with choreography. Maybe Mirror Mirror will flow better with me seeing it live. I am happy that it is included in the album because I enjoy the diverse songs and MM surely deserves it place in the album TOO.
