Quick correction: Apparently I accidentally said BamBam leaving GOT7, I meant to say leaving JYP. I'm sure we're all well aware that GOT7 is still together. I've also made videos regarding this and discussed this on livestreams many times, so no I'm not claiming GOT7 disbanded, this was purely just a word mix-up! Apologies.

Bambam said that he named it riBBon not only because it has double B in it which stands for BAMBAM but also coz 리본 in korean holds the same pronounciation for RIBBON as well as Re-born so he wants to portray through his debut that he feels like he has re-born.
Abyss Company was formerly known as MAKEUS and it’s rebranded, home to Sunmi and Urban Zakapa!
I think they do share some association with SM, like maybe the same stylists, etc... as BamBam was wearing the same crinkley tartan short suit that Taemin wore in "Advice".

In Korean language riBBon sound like reborn so he play on words. He reborn in new company and riBBon symbolize himself as a gift to his fan. And riBBon also have BB which represent his name double B. Very clever right?

Bambam said that he received several calls from so many labels and abyss called him like 2-3 times but he was a but hesitant to join abyss so he asked them a question and their answered pleased him so much also Sunmi, who is also abyss's artist convinced him to join it.
i was also surprised that lots of money were put into his debut! his highlight medley too, was also very well-produced. like, they shot a short video for every tracks in the album. i feel like you'd love that as well!

BAMBAM really killed the bright concept, some people were expecting him to go for a darker concept but I'm glad he didnt(he would propapply nail that too). the song really fits him so well and its HELLA CATCHY and such a vibe with a very good choreo too

"Under the sky" is my favorite song in this album and the highlight medley is well produced as well. It was also filmed by highqualityfish and they also filmed yugyeom's i want u around, jus2's focus on me, and most mv from starship artists.
you know how got7 were mistreated and mismanaged when a not so well known company could make such a high quality mv with all those sets and production! we went from greenscreen in almost all the mvs to quality mvs with high budget! and promotion!!!

Beside that I would totally recommend you to listen to the whole album bc it showcases how much versatility he has when it comes to music writing and also i would really recommend the highlight medley video for his album bc he has a special clip for every track which is very unusual for highlight medleys and I think you will really enjoy it!

Bambam said: Korea is the only place left that they are not as known as, so even he might lose both overseas and Korea markets, but he will regret it if he doesn’t give it a shot now to continue trying in Korea.
He also said he enjoys being an idol, instead of changing that, he would rather be recognized as a great idol.
For ABYSS, he said initially he declined because Abyss is not a known music label in the industry, but he talked to Sunmi (who’s also in Abyss) so he changed his mind and had a meeting with Abyss instead. He asked all the companies who gave him a love call why picked them and he really loved Abyss’s answer. Also Abyss told Bam they will help him to promote more in Korea (most companies said they will help him to promote overseas).
The MV company is who shot JUS2 Focus On Me, also filmed Yugyeom’s All Your Fault mv.
RiBBon = reborn (leaving JYPE), ribbon (opening the gift, the concept of the album is also he is the Hope in the Pandora box), BB = double B of coz ;-)

I was the most curious for BamBam too when it came to what route he was gonna take but I’m glad he chose this company it seems to fit his style and sound I think we will continue to see great things from him! And the work they put into the production shows how much they care for him as an artist!!
Also I just gotta say how happy it makes me to see all members of Got7 finally be treated like the amazing artist they are!! 💚💚
Bambam's MV made 40M views in a week, GOT7s last comeback hasn't even hit that yet... Really showing of the difference a good company that actually cares can make.

Please check out the highlight medley and the side track too. Its a no skip album especially under the sky. His voice is amazing in that song and he said he recorded under the sky for 16 hours. He also said under the sky is a song about the members and ahgase after left jype
Awesome reaction video for Bambam's 1st mini album, and like he said; not really a debut more of like a comeback. 🥰💚🐥
We are super happy for him and very proud, as for your points :
1. riBBon : BB for double B, Bambam. Representative of his name. His fandom is still called Ahgase. He said why call them anything else? We are always his baby birds.
2. Ribbon : a metaphor for being unpacked as a solp artist : a ribbon is pulled to open a gift. Albeit his album comes in 2 versions. Ribbon is the bright and unpacked version of himself. While Pandora, is much like the greek myth, but he is the HOPE can comes with all the bad.
3. Highlight medley : his album highlight medley was pretty much his initial concept which has grown through the years and further distilled by this current pandemic. The songs as hopefully enough, but there is an underlying melancholy.
4. Songs in the album are brighter thoughts of having his members stretch their own wings & artistic ventures, wishful/hopeful thinking of seeing Ahgase again, & showing a fresh and light side to his musical sensibilities.
UNDER THE SKY : he explained his regret that GOT7 SPINNING TOP WORLD TOUR is actually not complete. The Rajamangala stadium booking was for 2020, but cancelled because of the Pandemic. His feelings of wanting to finish the tour with GOT7 & being a performer for Ahgase.
Since CALL MY NAME/ DYE era when all their promotion/activities were scaled down for promotions; he and GOT7 have been rueful of cutting it all short. He hasn't even seen his own nephew. While Jackson and Mark have made their transition to being with family again in their own native countries.
He is both a ribbon you pull to unpack a surprise, and he is therefore reborn into being the Solo artist that he wants to discover and fly high with his full outstretched artistic wings.

Considering BamBam has a huge Thai fanbase I was surprised but also not surprised by this sound and video. Thailand *loves* easy, upbeat songs and bright aesthetics and riBBon is playing everywhere, including heavy rotation on radio stations, malls, shops...you can't escape it. Also we're being ravaged by Covid so we all need the optimism here 😓
Sunmi is also in abyss company, in fact she is the reason why bambam signed with them

The B is a reference to Double B, a phrase he often says when he’s about to rap either in his solos songs or in GOT7 songs lol

Warner is handling GOT7 as a group while the members individually are signed with separate companies for their solo activities. I'm not sure if this is officially confirmed, but this is what people think since Warner promoted Encore on their social medias earlier this year.
Not sure how it works solo wise because JAY B's "switch it up" is the only video that has been blocked by Warner. YUGYEOM and BAMBAM seem all good so far.
@@formoftherapy Yeah, I'm not sure either. They haven't really released any information other than that Jay B did the legal work to keep the group together so perhaps he has some sort of deal with Warner as well?

So for got7 they have arrangement with got7 members while with jayb solo stuffs, they are managed by h1gher music and they have different arrangement. Jay Park set up h1gher for more international activities compare to aomg; so that’s probably why.

he’s in the same company as sunmi, formerly known as make us entertainment (they changed the name to abyss at some point). sunmi convinced him to join abyss, they’ve been close since his trainee days (fun fact they share the same birthday (2 may) and they celebrated it together this year)
During an interview, bambam spoke about how he never really “ made it” in S Korea ( I disagreed) I think it’s the reason why bambam chose to focus on S Korea market. Pandora is also great to listen to as well

1) The song, riBBon, is a word-play on the word reborn.
2) The b’s are on caps to represent BamBam’s name.
3) Sunmi is an artists under Abyss and is sort of one of the reasons why BamBam signed with them. She said they were a really great company which pushed him to finalized the deal.
4) The production company for the MV is the same company that often does Monsta X’s music videos and some of the SM artists.

Watch the highlight teaser for Bambam’s album big money was spent on that too! They gave him the quality he’s always deserved and because of that his album and video have done AMAZING on charts & so far he’s proven to be one of the most promising kpop soloist! Ahgases are extremely happy with all the promotions and content abyss has given us and we feel so lucky to know our bambam is being taken care of well!!!!

BB is from Double B, his AKA that Jackson named him. And riBBon logo represent his name and also his concept in this album too. Ribbon and Reborn are written the same Hangul. It’s kind of a play word in Korean. BamBam also said he feels like he has reborn to his new life (as Solo artist including new environment of work place or people) and we could see how happy he is right now. I love all the songs in his album and I hope you will react them too. But if you decide to do it please react to BamBam ribbon Highlight medley film too. You will never regret to watch it.

ABYSS used to be called Makeus and they house Sunmi, I believe they invested a lot in Bambam's solo debut considering how well-promoted it was too (tons of ads, fan contests for special polaroid sets, lots of video call events). Bambam actually estimated they had 100k physical sales, when he only expected 30-40k while ABYSS expected 50k. The #s haven't reflected but maybe it's because of how many different platforms he's been selling the albums, including ebay and amazon, which is amazing considering JYP never had GOT7 albums on those platforms.

I really liked BB solo debut!!! It's so him 🥺💚 I'm pretty sure he had much more creative liberties than with their ex company, and that's why this debut feels so authentic of him.

I think all of us Ahgases are so in love with Abyss company and how well they are taking care of BamBam. Sunmi is the artist under Abyss that convinced BamBam to join!! Also the first verse he says "riBBon" and the next he says "Reborn" like leaving JYPE is finally letting them reach their full potential and start fresh. I'm so proud of BamBam and Abyss! I can't wait to watch them grow even more.
