This is a VERY rare 1953 Apex "bouncing basket" washing machine. First you see it being loaded, then started, then washing and finally during the rinse.
Washing machines today are really depressing and the quality is substandard along with the technology and the parts and materials very inferior quality compared to this fine machine
It's funny that I noticed that whoever owns Whirlpool and a few other companies took this idea and is recently sold under some caribean name as high tech.....funny!
Amazing how tight you packed in those towels! Even so, there was dramatic turnover before the tub filled with water. To me this beats all the new HE top loading washers on the market today.
I really appreciate this Video. It is like watching a Movie and wanting that washer so badly. Do you sell any of those Washers ? am on the hunt for a nice Vintage Washer with a good agitatior to wash and rinse would be awesome. They certainly don't make them like that any more. Cheers from Canada.
I knew that there was a Washing machine with that Circular Motion on the agitator is very different and fun to watch Unfortunately I never got to see one as a Kid though
It's a low water usage washer? It's like a better, more successful version of the Calypso. Someone should do this style washer again. I absolutely loved watching this... Thanks for posting.
Yes this Apex washer only has one speed, but because of the bouncing basket "agitation" the wash action is gentle enough to wash those silk shirts too!
far superior to anything sold today

Douglas Adams said it best: They keep giving us technology when all we really want is just stuff that works.

there is only 2 known in existence
I love the see thru lids.
looks like a calypso washing motion
Actually the calypso looks like THIS wash motion, as this machine was sold 48 years BEFORE the calypso!

Why on earth didn't he show the tub empty so we would have a better idea of what is going on. This is definitely a very cool machine.

Wow! What a turnover! Tiny tub, but huge capacity, it looks like!
I could of swore I've seen that guy loading the towels on TV.

i wish ton come and see all these beautifle washers!!
I want to come see all these washers!
Does it have a gentle cycle? I wouldn't wash my silk shirts in there.
Back then the machines only had one cycle, regular speed.

Good to see working John uk
a great machine
compliments :) 5*****
It's the Spaz-O-Matic!
How can it use a lot of water? It has a thimble sized wash tub.
This machine looks like it will wear out clothes in just a couple washes. I very happy with my HE washer.
