this is a 10/10.....sure you could say the small droideka doesn't look that good but it is hard to pull that off in that scale and effort clearly was put into it. the big one looks SO GOOD OMG its insane! and this is one of the rare times where I even say the Price is ON POINT! generally I think with their 18+ Collector Sets lego often overprices them by a lot but not this time! Good job Lego!
10/10? With stickers it's never gonna be a 10/10, I'm sorry but for a display set there is no arguing that they should only include printed parts. And also, it's main characteristic is rolling and folding up, and while they did a decent job, the "rolling" function I would call "meh" and the folding is clever and I get that it is complicated but I wish they would have figured out a way to twist and fold the legs and not have them be removed for folding. So I would give it a 7.5/10 to 8.5/10 which is still very good when compared to "chewie"
@@Spike78822they did it in 2000 with the technic set, and something similar with the mario question mark cube, which is also a display piece. No reason why they couldn't have done it here
The minifigure-scaled Droideka seems to be paying homage in a number of piece choices to the original design! While it may still not be the most accurate, it seems like a thoughtful move by LEGO while working through obvious part limitations. I don't think it deserves any harsh treatment.
Honestly, nothing bores me more than the thought of a UCS Sail Barge. One of the most bland and overrated vehicles in the franchise imo. Gimme a UCS ARC-170 or a UCS Turbo Tank OR even a huge Trade Federation Battleship build!
I love how lego clearly sent out the sets even earlier for the may1st run to ambassadors so you couldnt review them first like the Venator and then you pop out with the droideka
@@Matt..S For the back? Yeah, that could work. I wasn't thinking of that. I was thinking about like the arms, legs, and head, but the shell part would be what they'd mold. You convinced me a bit. I hope that they do a molded shell because that seems to be the hardest part to get right.
@@TheFirstCurse1 the legs are pretty easy to do with the thick robot arms and a tooth, and the arms usually look spot on with the clip pieces that have a bar hole in them, then the hose gun and binoculars. looks lego-y enough while also being accurate to the source material. Thanks for the early review and I like it a lot! One of the better valued 2024 SW sets. Gotta say though, won't be a day one buy because the pieces are simple in a good way and worth trying to build this from my collection first.
Gives me a lot of nostalgia looking back at the old one. I never owned it myself but I had some friends who did. I think I'll pick up this model at some point, it'll look good on display.
People keep asking for a regular droideka done right, I want that AND a sniper droideka Maybe a $30 battle pack with two droidekas, a sniper droideka, and the legendary crab droid
One of, if not my favorite droid. I recall loving these guys as a kid. This set looks amazing, even if the little guy doesn't look as great. Great review.
I loved the set and now I do even more lol The reviews really help me personally decide because I like to see a person have it and explain it before I buy it or any set for that matter
I feel like this was just a big missed opportunity to remake a super functional droideka in technic. With all of the crazy paneling pieces that technic has now, it seems like it could have looked really clean.
All they'd need to make a good minifig-scale droideka is probably just a new mold for the back part of the brown shell, to give it the right amount of width while still being curved. A new mold for the legs would be nice, but they could probably just recolor a pre-existing part or reuse one they've used in the past. Hopefully they decide to go the extra mile someday, its becoming more and more evident that the basic LEGO pieces just aren't doing it justice.
Lego actually did other droidekas showing in a build it yourself book. If you don’t have the book you can watch my short about it. ( Sorry for making an ad in the comments)
Really happy were getting separatist/trade federation sets again, it sucks that they arent playsets but I couldnt be happier this is such a sick model!
Dang. This is such an awesome set. Getting this and another set to get the droid carrier GWP would definitely help offset the feeling of "this should be cheaper".
I see your connections to the CIS army have been fruitful LOL. THIS!!!! looks amazing and the fact you can actually fold it and roll this beautiful destroyer around is beyond fun, and it has the shooting feature were the arms alternate is cool pew pew indeed. The 2024 Droideka is a play set through and through, i'm getting this for sure!
I'm ABSOLUTELY getting this! I'll try to mod the legs so that they don't have to come apart for the ball conversion and maybe add a little articulation
Someone goofed at my local Kohl’s and put it out on the shelf early so I got mine yesterday and what a fun build it was and a few unique pieces in there. Highly recommend it!
I've seen an upside down Shredder minifigure claw used for a minifigure scale Droideka's eyes and that's pretty much the perfect piece. But as for the big set, it's so cool and I want it.
"alas" means something more like "unfortunately". Appreciate the early review as always, even though I'm not really a big star wars fan the droidekas are just so cool to have
Great video man! I truly appreciate the review, I think I’m going to pass or wait for a major discount on this one. I like it, but I think I’ll continue to save my LEGO VIP points lol, thanks again Ryan! 🙌
Cool thing, i think, is the piece where the leg connects to the chassis can be swapped for one with a round whole and the pin can be swapped with one with both a round and cross shapped ends so you don't have to detatch the legs if you don't want to, if you have the parts.

honestly im surprised lego hasn't made molded parts for the Droideka yet
I mean, it's not a CMF or a new one-off IP, so why would they bother? SW is just their most profitable theme 🤷♂
Some molded parts would be fine but a full molded droideka would be beyond cursed for LEGO. Brick built is the way to go for them.
