After I watched this video in high school, I was amazed how this many people can make such an original work together and adored University of Groningen's students and staff.. I ended up applying to university and I was admitted, though I had to withdraw it due to financial reasons. Now here I am as an exchange student at this university, -better than nothing, and I am proud of RUG! July 2020 update: Graduated from the University of Groningen, I will always love my university and feel lucky that I got to study there.
Update 8 months later: After my erasmus exchange semester ended, I made a decision. I left my university in my home country from third year. Re-applied RUG. They gave me a second chance and I went back to Groningen. Still feels like I am in a dream sometimes :)
Went back to see this video (I was there the day they recorded it) and just saw your comment. As a proud RUG alumna and staff member your updates were a joy to read. I hope you will get your degree ceremony despite all the Covid measures - you deserve it!

I saw this video when it came out, and for some reason it popped into my head tonight, so I came to watch again. So much joy! We lived in Groningen 1991-1993 for my husband's pos-doc. We love NL and Groningen and Dutch people, and made some very good friends.
SUPER, echt grote klasse en eindelijk wat super leuke humor in Nederland!!! Klasse en nog eens klasse met ook de complimenten aan Jeff Lynne en zijn Mr. Blue Sky.
This is, by a long shot, the BEST University promo film I have ever seen! (and that's something to say for a Leiden alumna ;-) ) - everyone should register at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen!
Al meer dan tien jaar weg uit Groningen, maar deze video laat me terug verlangen! Heimwee!!! (En trots!) Heb jaren in de UB gezeten, met véél plezier! Deze video laat wel zien dat de UB ook echt het hart is van studerend Groningen. :-) De hele sfeer van het studeren rondom 'd Olle Grieze is perfect weergegeven. Mooi ja! Ook erg goed dat jullie Rooie Rinus en Pé Daalemmer hebben weten te strikken! Alles bij elkaar is het vast een hele tour geweest om dit voor elkaar te krijgen.

@savetrainingcomau The redhaired guy works at the University Library. Together they achieved huge regional fandom during the 80s and 90s with comical covers in Dutch and the local dialect, and some original songs as well. Great fun, lots of running gags like the red SPAR T-shirt and every Groningen person with some self-respect knows at least 2 or 3 of their songs by heart. They still perform, mostly at special occasions like this.
Amazing to see Birmingham band ELO song being used for university ad, EXCELLENT work, and sort of happy stuff that works.. St Andrews in Brum needs uplifting video like this. Amazing as seems to have been done in one shoot.

Deze lipdub is echt super vet en blijft mijn favoriet! Ook het begin erg leuk bedacht, en je ziet dat de studenten goed weten wat ze doen moeten en er zitten mooie originele elementen in (rinus en pe, geverfde mr blue sky, drumstellen), goed werk! :) Wij hebben ook een lipdub gemaakt in het kader sportief slagen, so if you're interested please watch & comment on 'ksg lipdub 2011 - sportief slagen' :) Thank you!
