Don't worry, in our new series Ask HanzeMag, we will answer questions of students abroad. You ask us by Skype, we investigate!
Do you have an urgent question? Leave a message at www.hanzemag.com/contact/ and we will contact you as soon as possible!
Thx for the information @hanzemag, this is the summary:
Housing 350-400/month
Groceries 152/month
Clothes 58/month
Bike 50
Public Transport 48/month
Leisure 130/month
Mobile 32/month
Insurance 80-120/month
80 a month for insurance 🙆🏽♂️
My goodness
Bike around 100 or you can pay 15 per month
@@TheMNJT or you can ask a drug addict for 10 euro and is all yours.
WHAHWAHWHA 152 euro groceries??? EACH 2 WEEKS YOU MEAN!
Public Transport 48/month
Busticket cost € 2,79... going from your student room to school cost a day € 5.58, a week that cost you monday to friday € 27.90 and in a month that will be €111.60
Nothing special or extra just going A to B and back.
This sum is way to funny! And totally stupid!
An inspiring and exciting city, we have so much to learn from Groningen. We've just filmed a 4k walk through the city in the hope of spreading it's beauty around a bit. Thanks for adding this informative video, I look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you for this great video! Excellent!!!
those were really good informations. Thank you
Im applying soon. Wish me luck :D
Yes your right. I was in groningen for Christmas. I love the fish market.
Update of prices for housing: it is almost impossible to find a room somewhere in Groningen and often they are pretty small and cost about 700 euros or more
w- and what to I do then
@@gorldorito2476 I've looked online, if you look very good you can find rooms for 350? But you'll have to share the appartement with other people and stuff. My advise: look for rooms on Funda. It's a site where you can find houses and stuff.
@@gorldorito2476 also the 700+ euros are the student buildings. We have one in reitdiep, those are very expensive.
@@nikitaengelsman8349 How's life in Groningen right now? Like the social life etc. I am thinking about studying there and I will probably look for a room in a student dorm ^^
Already since 2000...
Thank you so much for this video!! I will try to be less 'broke' there XD
my dreams of studying in Groeningen, just flew out of the window
Where is the Groeningen?
Expense seems a little higher than in Rome..
152€ for groceries per month? That makes about 4,50€ a day, and lunch at the Harmo or Academy building is already 5,50€......4,50€ does not even get you a lunch salad at AH, so thaaat does not add up
yeah. i think so.
Have you ever tried this legendary new invention called "cooking"?
Lmao who eats outside everyday?
dude, you have to know how to live smart. buy groceries and cook for the whole week
@@unugeorge Yup I bet u could cut it down if u cook at home and limit some leisure ofc.
This is funny to me. I've been looking at a university in Barcelona and to share an apartment with four other students is up to like 1200/month. I guess expense is all relative.
It's a bit the same isn't it? also 300 euro a month here its 350/400. But if you try to fix an complete shared apartment in Groningen, 1200 a month would be doable as well.
Hertog Jay 1200 each not 1200 total
@@gracethedreadwaffle *mouth drop* that's super expensive, also with other living costs and costs of university you have to be quite wealthy to be able to live there. Probably financially won't get there with just a simple student job
I am still wondering which one I should do.
Student house or Apartment.
I like my privacy alot and value time by myself
But i don't want to screw up my uni experience, you know?
best option is to find a somewhat quiet student house with modest/quiet students. You probably will have time for yourself and not too much noise, and whenever you want to socialize/chill with others, the studnents is the house are there for you
No where in the Netherlands as a foreinger student you can get an apartment, even native Dutch locals need a goverment point system to get a apartment or a house.
I want to study in Groningen, but I am concerned about my financial situation. Will I be able to save up some money besides my expenses? I will work next to my study..
My reaction will probably be too late, but I think you should look at the prices for housing. The prices have become unbelievably high and daily life has become more expensive as well.
No, unless you sell drugs on the street.
Don't forget to mention that during your first months as an international, you'll either be homeless or paying 100 euros per night for a hotel/hostel, since finding student accommodation is nearly
impossible. Consider yourself lucky if you've found your first accommodation by December, and be prepared to pay 700+ euros per month for a small room with shared facilities. The University doesn't care though, as long as they receive their tuition fees
If you want a apparment you pay at least 900€ for a 2 room appartment.
Is it a must to have their insurance? I have insurance in my home country which covers overseas medical. so do I need it?
I could say a lot
www.hanze.nl/eng/study-at-hanze/practical-information/health-care-insurance
No it is forced by the goverment, you may not choice your medic and medication majority of it is not included in the package you have to spend arround 120 euro and exclusive medic cost and medication.
@@Hanzemagazine www.hanze.nl/eng/study-at-hanze/studying-in-the-netherlands/healthcare-insurance Correct link and this is where you see corruption, an educational institution may not recommend a 3rd party insurance. Unless they have interest what isn't allowed. But hey is the Netherlands free country and democracy right?
is there any update for price in 2020? thank you
You love Groningen too? Then watch this: ua-cam.com/video/yvJWol-8uaQ/v-deo.html
You'll never see Groningen the same! 🙂🙂
London in the uk is way more
Going to Groningen for my Masters studies this September, Wish me luck :)
me too
Ana Giorgobiani What are you going to study? :)
Me too!!
me too!
Am also gonna be there this september!
I have a skateboard
Probably will use that instead of a bike
It's not that convenient because many of the bicycle lanes are not just asphalt but tiles.bricks etc
@@nickangelopoulos6188 ............. Shit -_-
@@IamINERT but you can skate on sidewalks if you have cruiser wheels. I used normal skateboard with cruiser wheels and riser pads. Works fine! You have to be a bit flexible sometimes, but its quite an adventure itself. Most of the times I'm faster than someone on a bike.
80-120 euro for Insurance? are you living in the mafia or what? Is it health insurance?
Yes and mine is actually above 120😂 it's normal here
@@user-hb4mk9xk5e ouch
@@IamINERT i know it's now 140😣
@@user-hb4mk9xk5e i am planning on studying this september
Its still much cheaper than US and Canadian universities
But dang 140 🙆🏽♂️
@@IamINERT that's great!! I have friends from America and Canada. I dont know where you are from but my American friends all say that in general it's cheaper to live as a university student in the Netherlands than America😊
It’s ridiculously expensive to live here, if you’re an international like myself then make sure you have some money behind you or some ultra wealthy parents before you come. I had neither of those things and learned the hard way.
You love Groningen too? Then watch this: ua-cam.com/video/yvJWol-8uaQ/v-deo.html
You'll never see Groningen the same! 🙂🙂
It's cheap for Dutch people tbf it's made to be that way
I am going to get an admit here soon. Drop a message if you are already there or going to be there next year
