What happened to Sayaka is heartbreaking. She wanted to be a hero, she wanted to save people and do something noble. In the end, it was her selfless nature that killed her, because she essentially gave up all her time and energy without ever wanting to accept any help or thanks. Her own nature caused her soul gem to be corrupted, and she ended up becoming the very thing she swore to destroy.
@annmarieroyal Kyousuke. It was always about Kyousuke, whom she made her wish for. Sayaka believed that the wish she made to save Kyousuke's hand was entirely selfless, that she did not expect nor want to be rewarded. But this was all just a lie she told herself. Deep down, she expected a fairy tale ending for her good deed, where she would become one with her beloved. But the fairy tale she got was the tragedy of The Little Mermaid... Which her witch form is based upon. All that stuff about being a noble hero was secondary compared to Kyousuke. Sayaka wasn't a particularly strong Puella Magi (possibly due to the disingenuousness within her wish), but when she lost Kyousuke, she pushed herself to self-destruction because being a Puella Magi was now all she had left. I’m sorry if I say this but considering this is a metaphor of girls becoming adults and shit, and considering that Sayaka has a funeral later on... Wouldn’t that mean that if there weren’t any Soul Gems to begin with... Sayaka actually committed suicide?
i thought that to and its true but I also think when kyubey seals a contract the magical girl has a dark energy/power, ive rewatched this anime so many times and have had so many theories and my most outrageous one is this theory. The magical girl contract doesnt have a dark side persay, yes your not human blah blah but I think they have a piece of witch in all of them when they make a contract, it would kinda explain why they go through a huge despair faze. Yes emotions but when you think closely i think its the witch pushing through, sayaka is the best character to show this in. Before she turned into a witch she came to turms with everything all the wrong, she knows its the end they all do. BUT ITS JUST A THEORY A ANIME THEORY (please get that refrenced reference)
For what it's worth, I think the dub gets better as it goes along and the films all have pretty good dubs. Listening to the movies and show back-to-back is bizarre. I just rewatched episode one after showing my friend Rebellion and it's amazing how far they've come.
Most tragic moment in entire anime; literal death of hope. Well meaning but foolish young idealist set herself unreasonable idea to live up to and now she is paying the price. That's why Sayaka is my favorite Puella Magi - she was a fool not because she had dreams or ideas, but because she set herself unattained goal of being a paragon and then beat herself up when she didn't live up to the idea... and because of that she wasn't honest with herself - she didn't realized that her selfish desires didn't make herself a bad person - that desire of being loved and appreciated didn't make herself a monster... Irony is a that her didn't wanting to admit those desires really turned her into a monster... And there was many girls like that before her - Sayaka is literal embodiment of Puella's Magi in Madoka's universe - and it's quite possible that entire series is elaborate allegory for grief that leads to suicide... then again I can be just a pretentious prick and you shouldn't listen to anything I have to say 🤣 - decysion is ours !
I always ought Sayaka and Kyoko sounded very similar in the dub. Really, the whole series made me sob. Although the scene where Kyoko blows herself and Sayaka (as a witch) made me just gawk and cry in shock.

oh, oh, the joy of feeling, even if it isnt necessarily good or happy feeling. every thing works in this to get the wanted effect, it was done beautifully, that is all i have to say about it. (well... that is if you have at least seen everything leading up to this.)
While I like the English dub, the English sub in the Japanese dub draws as distinction between "the balance means good and bad have to zero themselves out". It says the balance of hope and despair which is more accurate in that the granting of a wish by Kyubey creates hope, while despair of the magical girl cancels it out, bringing balance. That is the mechanism behind the creation of energy needed to counteract entropy, the byproduct of the process being the witch.

I would love to see a crossover featuring Sayaka Miki and Transformers: Prime post-Predacons Rising Megatron. They both made a deal that essentially sold their soul- Sayaka to Kyubey, Megatron to Dark Energon/Unicron-and both become essentially living, reanimated corpses. The difference being that Sayaka made a contract to help and save people. Megatron injected his Spark with Dark Energon to conquer a world and win a war. A suggestion for the fans!
makes sense, like the original little mermaid (no, Disney, not looking at you) in the REAL story, the little mermaid DIES and the prince marries some random girl he met. Kinda the same with Sayaka. Her beloved guy never answered to her feelings, which I am sure he knew but he chose to ignore, and rather went with a girl who never put a foot at the hospital. But is prettier, richer, and popular, so who cares. Sayaka shows the sorrow of one-sided love.
He didn't actually. Sayaka and Kyousuke relationship fell into the classic pitfall associated with being childhood friends. That when two people spend so much of their life together in a close but non romantic relationship, it can be very difficult to spot the sighs when one of the person's feelings become romantic. This is especially tough in this case since Sayaka hides her feelings, and Kyousuke is so singlehandedly focused on his music.

The English dubbers really nailed the voice shake, and brought life to the words.
PROPS 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think this is the scene that truly one me over with this anime
*watches video*
*heart breaks*
The animation in this scene is so beautiful, you could say it really....
blew me away?
Sayaka’s soul gem broke and so my heart
Kyoko always eats alot, she's like stocking that always eats sweets
I’m sorry if I say this but considering this is a metaphor of girls becoming adults and shit, and considering that Sayaka has a funeral later on...
Wouldn’t that mean that if there weren’t any Soul Gems to begin with... Sayaka actually committed suicide?
OOF
i thought that to and its true but I also think when kyubey seals a contract the magical girl has a dark energy/power, ive rewatched this anime so many times and have had so many theories and my most outrageous one is this theory.
@Yandi Winner I agree and how i always seen and understood it. It's a metaphor for depression and she did indeed commit suicide.
One of the most surprising scenes in the show for me...
When her death came I hope it was quick. She earned that much
Helghastslayah1
A Star War Battlefront 2 reference?
The best kind
Helghastslayah1
Indeed... though it's a bit awkward, given the subject of the video.
Eh...thought it sounded cool.
Helghastslayah1
Indeed... though I think Harvery's quote from the Dark Knight is more fitting.
A despair equal to one’s joyous hope.... This shall a sad crescendo that we shall soon see.
I always ought Sayaka and Kyoko sounded very similar in the dub. Really, the whole series made me sob.
Although the scene where Kyoko blows herself and Sayaka (as a witch) made me just gawk and cry in shock.
Things That Never Should Have Happened:
This.
Then why does this feel right to me ? At first it felt wrong. But then I heard her theme... And it didn't feel wrong anymore.
I really, really like this scene in english. "I was stupid... so stupid..." So much emotions... I hate the german dub -.- (Japanese Dub is nice, but I prefer the english dub for this scene)
The little mermaid threw away the knife and jumped into the sea, turning into Seafoam as she landed.
Breaks my heart every fucking time. WHY'D IT HAVE TO HAPPEN ?! KyokoXSayaka my OTP :'( RIP
Yang Xiao Long espicially when the music stops and kyoko screams sayaka XC plz excuse me while i cry for a week in my room in a pillow XC
Yang Xiao Long How happy did Rebellion make you...? With regards to KyoSaya at least...?
Eunice Sun I really enjoyed Rebellion! I was happy that Kyoko and Sayaka got closure. The only thing that bothered me was the ending with Homura.
as is the problem with everyone. lol
+Yang Xiao Long the creator said that devil homura actually made a universe in which madoka and sayaka and mami and kyoko and nagisa all had happy lives
I love this scene for some reason.
as soon as the music kicks in, so do the tears 😭
Jaden Yuki: "For the happiness you wish for someone. Someone else gets hurt with cruel misery. That's how It works for Duelist, That's how it works for me now. I was Dumb, So Dumb, all that Fun I did no longer exists! and again I was Dumb and Stupid. Everyone in the world Hates me! In This world I'm Both A King And A Warlock. So......Goodbye..........."
Yeah makes sense jaden is a little like sayaka but to who does he say that
@@Medinacrystalheart Maybe to Jesse?
@@AnnieMacFlannie yes could be then what would the witcher form called i called it witcher because witch is for girls i would think his japinese name
@@Medinacrystalheart Ok
@@AnnieMacFlannie yup
If there's ever been a better cliffhanger in a TV show, I don't know about it.
Of course I only just now realize she's Uni's voice actress (Sarah Williams) after googling it out of curiosity. HOW DID I NOT HEAR IT!?!
“For all the happiness you wish for someone, someone else gets cursed with equal misery” fuck, this line hurts, dude, this poor girl, she didn’t deserve this at all.
If you think about it, we are also being called stupid for thinking this would be resolved.
This entire scene broke my heart
I swear this scene just grabs my heart and squeezes it till it explodes
Sayaka is right i went and still in terrible misery some people are made to have a bad life there is no such thing as happiness and i learned that have accepted it
oh, oh, the joy of feeling, even if it isnt necessarily good or happy feeling. every thing works in this to get the wanted effect, it was done beautifully, that is all i have to say about it. (well... that is if you have at least seen everything leading up to this.)
Being meguca is suffering…
"I was stupid... So stupid."
And that's the point I started crying. :(
I was stupid so stupid....
Batman is more stupid WHY!?
Martha
Nooo!!
don't say that sayaka!
I love the homage to this scene in My Dress Up Darling. Hella iconic.
I was stupid... So stupid... *le cries*
*le dies*
That moment hurts, especially in the way she says it. 😥
Man I got chills just like the 1st time seeing it
I literally cried during this scene
0:25Sayaka:i guess I just don't care anymore i cant remember what I thought was so important what was worth protecting you know is all a blank now doesn't make sense anymore

Favorite episode in madoka magica
Did she just eat a whole fucking can of chips.
She’s a big snack eater tho
"Kyoko, can you do me a solid?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"...Don't fuck up."
Little girls grow up to become women, magical girls grow up to become...
Witches
Is it bad that I know this scene's dialogue word for word?
Nop
Its perfect !!
No, I do too. In fact, it's hard for me to listen to Decretum on it's own without hearing "SayakaaAAAA!!!" at the end.
I want to learn it. It’s an odd way of connecting with scenes, but I’m sort of growing to like it
Toxic empathy is real… empathy is what keeps people together, but too much kills you. Caring for others to the point you neglect your own needs.
"Balance means good and bad have to zero themselves out, right?"
"Salvation is like currency, when used it passes on to another."
Poor, poor sayaka, I mean, imagine if your best friend was sad and this happened to them? how would you tell their family?
I know and it's all because she wants to help a few people
OMFG! Oktavia Von Seckendorff!
As a Transformers fan and a Madoka Magica fan, I LOVE 💕 this idea!!
Uni transforms into Witch ..
What an amazing dub
I'm really sad for Sayaka... 😭
*Decretrum starts playing @**0:40*
Oh lord, my feelings, they are a breaking
My baby didn't deserve this...
Like if you cry every time
lik dis if u cri evertim
Sarah Williams (Sayaka’s voice actress) is very talented
Huh. For once I may have actually found a good dub. Wow.
Poor sayaka i mean she wished for someone that she has a crush on to be healed only for him to be taken from someone else.
Absolutely haunting last words
So who wants a contract? /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
I do
Kamel Boumaza What is your wish?
Kamel Boumaza Why would you?
Kyubey Incubator you are only tasked to make wishes come true you don't have the right to ask me so just do it
Kamel Boumaza The contract has been fulfilled. Humanity now lives in caves.
makes sense, like the original little mermaid (no, Disney, not looking at you) in the REAL story, the little mermaid DIES and the prince marries some random girl he met.
Picture if you will... "Sayaka: (playing Joe on CvS2, uses his Double Cyclone) D'WAH, SMELL MY PITS!!!"
So magical girls turn into witches
yep that's what happens when their soul gems are not purified in time and get too tainted with despair
RougeDragon whiteFlame Ultimately the Fate of all magical girls is to become witches so the incubators could gather their energy, but thanks to Mado-kami and Homilly that all changed...
BlazingDonkey25 Homulilly is a witch. Homucifer and Godoka/Madokami changed it.
Sayaka's voice actor was fucking perfect, kyouko's is ehh...
“I’m a monster”
"I was stupid.. so stupid"
Sayaka they could never make me hate you.
I WAS STUPID. SO STUPID.
