Quick tip about drilling: Put a (GOOD) magnet in a paper or plastic bag and suspend it under your hole. When you're done drilling, you can still vacuum up any stray fragments, but the magnet should catch 99% of them. Just hold the bag over a trash-can and pull the magnet out... all the shavings will drop into your trash can and your magnet is ready for the next session. Solar panels = 3 x 100watt flexible panels that came with the inergy Apex. This runs the Maxxfan and occasionally a small fridge unit. Because the Apex does not have regulated DC outlets, I recently purchased a traditional 100watt panel, MPPT solar regulator, and a set of lithium batteries from China. Haven't hooked that up yet. All wires are run to the rear of the van, down the back and into the side of the backup camera case, then through the holes that were already there. I admit I butchered cutting up the plastic that job, so will probably replace that at some point (when the world returns to normal. Looking good, though! Can't wait to see what y'all do next. :)
Hey brotha, just wanted to say thank you for posting these videos. I found your feed today and have simply been watching everyone since I picked them up. I am gonna start my build hopefully next week when my roof rack comes in and my insulation as well. Funny enough I also decided to go with havelock wool but due to COVID it has been taking forever to get in. Regardless.., I was feeling a bit overwhelmed to get everything started but thanks to your how to videos my stress has gone way way way down. Thanks again to the both of you and keep doin what you’re doin! Much appreciated!
That is so wonderful to hear! 😊 I'm glad they can be helpful and that is exactly why I have been posting them! Congrats taking the dive into diy building! I know you'll do awesome! Reach out if you ever need. All the best! 🙌🏻
Hi, Just found your channel. I really like your attention to detail and great up close camera work. That Scanstrut part for the roof looks so much better than the box I got from Renogy that has no screw holes in it to hold it down - I would prefer screws to something adhesive on the roof. I do have a question: any reason why you chose the vertical vs the horizontal cable seal? Cheers!
Thanks, I'm glad you are finding them helpful! My main reason for using the vertical option was because I could fit 2 wires separately through it. The horizontal ones I thought could only do/have space for a single wire. I think Scanstrut makes a great product so I wouldn't be afraid to use a different style from them. Had I put up proximity lights and a light bar I would have probably gone with their Multi Deck Seal which has space for even more cables. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions 🙌🏻
Great content, silicone will harden overtime and may crack. Have you considered more dedicated solutions? Like Dicor or SIKA 221? Also, why not put in 30amp adapter vs 15, this will give you more options?
I used a high temp product that is meant for projects like this. Since I use a Goal Zero power station a 30amp plug wouldn't have helped anymore than the 15amp so I saved the money utilizing this cord. Had I done a DIY electrical system, you'd be right that a 30amp plug would give more options and ability
Best solar cable entry by far! I will do the same once my wife gives me the ok on purchasing the van. Question? Did you build your van on the dodge website then ordered the van from a dealership? Thanks
Yea! It's a great cable entry! They also sell a multicable entry if you have other needs like accessory lights on the roof. We built out some of our wants on the Ram webpage and searched nearby places that had a van similar. We got lucky and found our van already at a dealer close to us. Building your van I have heard is currently over 6 months to delivery, FYI. But would allow for you to get exactly what you want! That would be cool!
Thank you! The van actually had the $50 upgrade for the black rims. We ended up going with the stock size 225 75R16 BF Goodrich TA K02s. In the future I'd love to put 245s on but we were lucky enough to negotiate the tires with the dealership we went through
The rims are stock, the black color was a small upgrade charge (though we didn't order them special). The wheels are the stock size 225/75R16. They are the BF Goodrich TA K02s
Sorry brother, I haven't checked them lately to make sure they are all active. What items are you hoping for? I can see about pulling a link for whatever you are trying to find if you haven't found one already
@@mattvieira381 sounds good. Reach out if there is something you are hoping to find that's not working and I can try and update a link for you if need be. Good luck! 🙌🏻
Very nice job. Safe travels.
Thanks! Hope it can be helpful!
@@Trailvagabonds It was. I installed my shore power plug a few hours ago. No issues.

Oh awesome tip! Thank you! 🙌🏼
Scanstrut solar entry is legit.s just bought one yesterday.
Heck yea! Great product! Use them on all our client builds too. Good luck with your install🙌🏼
@@Trailvagabonds I just bought a second one. Haha thanks!
Exactly what I need! Thanks for this!

Nice ! Looks great.
Thank you, Barry! 😎
Fantastic work as always. It was such a pain for us to run our solar wires through our inlet also but once its done its done! :)
Glad that's the case! I was excited we won't have to drill more holes but now I'm wondering if a light bar and proximity lights would be worthwhile 🤔

Matt & Katie awesome. Thank you. Love watching you guys and the build out. Any chance you know what the rims actually are? I really love the look.
They are OEM, from the favtory, I'm guessing maybe Mopar would be the place to look. Do you have a ProMaster?
Matt & Katie yes, building one out now actually
Exciting! Definitely a rewarding process! Congrats on diy!
