This was more fun than the professional windsurfer videos as it's totally relatable to we mere mortals. Gave up windsurfing 20 years ago after my son was born and this takes me right back to those very happy days. Best time of my life.
@@elduderinino Close to 70 now with a few titanium patched ribs and a marginal shoulder. So, too late for me, unfortunately. No complaints, though. I had some very good times throughout my athletic years.
That was an excellent video, no music, just the wind and the waves. It was also good to see how wave sailing can be just enjoyed in mild conditions and Kate Barker is an excellent windsurfer. Big thanks for this video.
We don’t pay attention because this lovely lady is changing her clothes; we pay attention because of her confidence, strength, humility, friendliness and her great mani-pedi!
Excellent video no silly loud music and more applicable to us normal windsurfers. Kate is a great windsurfers Excellent at tacking and get onto the waves
Ah man. I loved this video. I've seen loads of highly edited vids with sountracks, rigging b-roll etc that are great, but this was next level. Seeing her set up, the wind change, re rigging, heading out, the jitters and the falls. That was the most ive felt like i was windsurfing without actually windsurfing. Congrats for a great vid and congrats to Kate, she was awesome.
It is so nice to see someone just enjoying being out there. I started in the early 80's. Slowed down with age. After watching enough videos of tricked out major moves, to which I never aspired, this is refreshing. Thanks. Keep going, Kate.
I absolutely love Kate. Officially a new fan. Thanks to both of you for sharing your day! As a new windsurfer in the gulf (states) there is too much old gear and few to no shops. As I nickle and dime my dinosaur gear upgrades it is videos like yours and hers that keeps me going when I feel beaten by opportunity. ❤ thank you again for your inspiration all the way across the drink
Awesome to follow one windsurfer through an entire session. Love the pre and post chat. Kate is definitely a role model. 26 degrees! I wish. I was out yesterday in 7 degrees with a 4 degree water temp. Cheers from British Columbia, Canada🥶
Cool vid. I love the laid back style of your vids with good sailing action. Great to see women enjoying a sail also, you’ve inspired me to perfect my shortboard tack cos you made such good use of it. 👏🙏🤙🏼
Beautiful video! Just love this second smothly spot and a beautiful humble Kate riding alone out there. Yes it is truth women should ride more togheter... it's all my life i keep saing that!!💙🌺
Hello from canada :) That was an excellent video of what it''s really like to windsurf for most of us :) ie the rigging woes trying to find all the bits and pieces, picking the right sail, fin, boom, is the wind picking up or dying down blablabla. All part of the experience. The drone footage is amazing, the clarity, pro quality. Kate has all the rigging brings back memories of when my vehicle only had room for the driver lol. Keep pumping out videos of real people windsurfing :) Inspired me to dust off my gear even though we're heading into winter here :(
Thanks for that video.. Wonderful woman and windsurfer.. What elegant and high level with little wind.. I love those tacks... Greetings from south Spain. We enjoy windsurf all year too💪🤙
As a 73 year old, sadly missing it due to developing RA as much as ageing....I was around and about the level of this lovely lady windsurfer...needing more of the same that she is wonderfully enjoying here, spills and all!! I can’t really say just how much I’ve enjoyed feeling what she is experiencing in this great video production! So cleverly put together by both participants, so thank you so much! Thanks for sharing your story Nigel. It must be hard having to give up the sport you love but I’m happy you got enjoyment out of the video. I often think of the day I’ll have to give it up too.
Awesome video as usual. Great rider, great discussion, she seems like a very nice person. Always interesting to see how other riders rig and setup their equipment from the car all the way to the water. 👍
Great to see our sport/recreation isn't dead, especially among women. Kate's a very accomplished sailor, light and gusty conditions are much more challenging than they look. 👍
Oh, this is great! I am struggling on the fast tacks, and Kate doing those (from 20:00 on) are beautifully filmed in the perfect angle by the drone. I think I understand it now what I was doing wrong! Thanks!
Great flying with the drone, superb shots of Kate riding some nice waves. Those calluses on her hands are a testament to her passion for sailing. I remember how my first windsurfer had a teak boom and no harness and my palms had calluses to match Kate's and then some...
Love your drone footage :) , you are so close to rider and we can see all movements....... it is great for learning wave sailing.... Kate has awesome skill wave sailing.... LOVE HER :) .....Greetings from cold Poland

Others have said this before, but I love the real world perspective your videos give. Most lifestyle/promo videos are slashy edits of impressive moves, but miss the most important bits IMHO. Access to the break, how to get out in less than optimal conditions, how to make the most of mediocre waves and gusty winds... one can get so much more from videos like yours. Most important, watching this helps me remember my last session and makes me crave the next one. Great work keeping the rest of us stoked mate, keep it up!
