Manhattan is a city and county seat of Riley County, Kansas. The city was founded by settlers from the New England Emigrant Aid Company as a Free-State town in the 1850s, during the Bleeding Kansas era.
Nicknamed "The Little Apple" as a play on New York City's "Big Apple", Manhattan is best known as the home of Kansas State University and has a distinct college town atmosphere. Fort Riley, a United States Army post, is located 8 miles (13 km) west of Manhattan.

There must surely be an area in Manhattan where there is LIFE and where is something to see. Is this downtown Manhattan? Is this an area that's close to Kansas State University? I am considering applying to KSU, but if it is in such a God forsaken place then perhaps I should look elsewhere. This is BLEAK!
It really is a vibrant town. This was filmed on a quiet Sunday morning in the summer when most students were away. It was also walked during 2021 at the height of the pandemic. I was in Manhattan a few weeks ago and it was hopping!
