So my aunt had this, they caught it early like you did, removed the thyroid, on meds, and she's %100 healthy today! Chin up, and prayers up for ya, Ricky!
Hey, I'm really sorry about what you're going through. I'm only 15, and had the same thing. They found a 3cm lump in the right side of my thyroid. They removed half of my thyroid. After a while of waiting, they told me that they told me that there was no cancer in it. It's been a year since it happened, but it still interferes with my life. I now have to take synthyroid pills every morning. The recovery was long, and my 6cm scar is still very clear. When starting high school, I've had the explain my story so many times. Once, I was even asked if I had tried to commit suicide. Beacuse of my surgery, I had to miss my school band trip, something I had worked really hard for. It was hard hearing all about it after from friends. I am so lucky that it wasn't dangerous. Just don't give up. It's going to be a tough ride. I first found out when I went to the doctors after not being able to sleep for so long. I was getting dizzy, and was constantly tired. After going to the clinic, my doctor pointed out the bump. After an ultrasound and biopsy, they decided to remove it. The doctors were amazing and so were the nurses. They even watched Harry Potter with me. Overall, the whole preocess was very scary, especially beacuse I'm so young. It felt unfair, that I was going through that when other kids didn't have to. I then realized that it could've been so much worse, and other kids, even younger have to deal with so much more. Just take time to relax, and if you have questions, I'm here :) Hope everything turns out okay.

Ricky, in 2011 I was going through a hard time - I took a year off after high school, moved to the US and worked in a job that wasn't good for me so I can afford college. The same day I got my college acceptance letter from the college that I ended up graduating in 2015, I went to the DigiTour in NYC with a feeling of "today is a day that marks a change in my life". I went by myself to the show, stood in line and waited for the chance to see youtubers for the first time. During that show, you threw your hat out to the crowd and it landed it my hands. I was extatic - it's hard to even put into words. Your drumming videos were the main reason I wanted to go to the show, and this made that day so much more memorable for me. I've taken your hat with me to every apartment I've lived in since, and I still wear it to this day. I never forget that day that marked a huge change in my life. You've unknowingly been a huge part of and support to my life. I am here for you, as well as the rest of your loving fans and the community you've created here on UA-cam. Can't wait for the video that says you're completely cured!

Any type of cancer can be cured with an alkaline diet not toxic chemo. The cure was found by Dr Otto in 1931. I will spread the truth because cancer is curable and doctors will not tell you this.
Very well done, Ricky. I will watch your follow up later. I was told once by a doctor when I was 19, "I don't think it's a cancer yet." Long story which I might tell in a video later today. I am now 78. Over the years I have heard that C word a few times but so far I have been lucky to have not had any major problems. You have a very good attitude. I think that is a great immune booster. You are honest. You have much to offer the world and this video is a good thing that will help many others cope with some of life's occasional uncharted detours.

So I can definitely tell you, it's going to be alright man, it's okay to be scared, I hope you are having the necessary support from family and friends... When I had it, it scared the shit outta me, but as years go by that scar becomes a representation of a much darker time that I got out of. Good luck buddy, my thoughts are into you.

Hey Ricky, I feel you. I found out that I had papillary thyroid cancer in Naval boot camp on the 26th of May. I am going to all those appointments now since being discharged. My tumor is over 4 cm and I have surgery on August 9th. I'm also young like you. I'm 24. I had that same needle biopsy. It is scary but if it wasn't for my faith I wouldn't be able to face this being strong. Hang in there. We both got this. thank you for being inspiring even during a time of a storm in life. it is encouraging for me.
Back in 1976. I've also had Cancer. An 11 inch Diameter tumor in my tummy that crushed my right Kidney. Could not eat much. Went from 190 Pounds down to 137 Pounds. Had operation and Chemo. Survived. I Pray you will also.

The main things is that hopefully you've got it early! Really sorry to hear this dude. The phrase you don't know how good you've got it until something happens really is right. To be honest I think I know how you feel or at least how you felt during all the results process. I've found a bump on my neck in January this year and all I did for the first few days was being like 'nah, this node just got kinda bigger, probably because I'll have a flu or something..' But my mom is a nurse and she made me go to a doctor from where I was sent to another doctor and then to another doctor and another. I got many ultrasounds and all doctors were like 'mm, it's grown into the thyroid but it seems benign, OTHERWISE we recommend you a surgery'. Oh well then, I said I wouldn't let anyone to take my thyroid without a reason (noone even did any blood test, I mean there are some dysfunctions which can cause those 'nodes' making in its glands), so finally I was sent to the endocrinology where I was blood tested. Also I got the needle biopsy as well before but they were not able to say it's 100% benign from the sample so still there were thoughts like 'what if I have cancer' on my mind. The worst was I could notice that everyone around me seemed more scared than me. Then I was thinking myself 'this is so unfair' or 'why me' and truly I can tell that those were the worst weeks in my life. Luckily the blood results didn't show anything so I simply have a 3cm 'ball' in my thyroid (I was told it "just happened" sometimes, oh well), but still I should get a surgery because 'it can get bigger and bigger'. I'm really scared of hospitals, also I don't feel like taking a pill every day for the rest of my life and also I don't wanna have a scar on my neck, but now I think I should get rid of this bump because once we could get high with our hormonal drugs or fight over whose scar is prettier, haha! I'm crossing all of my fingers for you and I believe that soon you'll be alright. And if I've learned something in my life, then that everything is only in your mind, so stay positive and things will seem much easier!

Ricky, I have had Thyroid canser in both sides and i went thru it, i'm still alive :). I hope the best! :). I had only weekend in ishalition to get it cured.. i eat Thyroid hormone everyday and they do monitor it still :). You can get through it!

Finding out you had cancer a week after receiving the same news about my grandmother, was so hard, holding back my emotions about my grandmother until I heard about you just made it all come out at once which was not healthy. I consider you a very close friend and this past year I've gotten to know you and your family a lot more. I'm so blessed that you are still here, happy healthy and I'm sure even my grandmother who isn't here now and who has never have met you will be looking down on you and being proud like me, for being such a true inspiration to everyone going through this. Totally know how you feel im only 32yo and 3 months ago i just found out i have Congestive Heart Failure. and like you i have always been very healthy and no major problems. So hearing those words and find out that i only have 15 years or so before im dead or need a new heart is a life changing event. But good things for you that there has been many huge advances with cancer in the past 10 years and you should pull through this just fine. My Dad had bladder cancer and now 5 or so years later he is doing just fine and it has not returned. Good lucky and hope you recover quickly.
It's been a year since I got 2/3 of my thyroid removed. It got removed cause I also had a little bump on my neck. After surgery we learned that I had cancer so I had to undergo some radioactive treatment to get all of my thyroid out. I pretty fine now but I get tired more often than before but everything's good. You can slay this Ricky!

The main things is that hopefully you've got it early! Really sorry to hear this dude. The phrase you don't know how good you've got it until something happens really is right. To be honest I think I know how you feel or at least how you felt during all the results process. I've found a bump on my neck in January this year and all I did for the first few days was being like 'nah, this node just got kinda bigger, probably because I'll have a flu or something..' But my mom is a nurse and she made me go to a doctor from where I was sent to another doctor and then to another doctor and another. I got many ultrasounds and all doctors were like 'mm, it's grown into the thyroid but it seems benign, OTHERWISE we recommend you a surgery'. Oh well then, I said I wouldn't let anyone to take my thyroid without a reason (noone even did any blood test, I mean there are some dysfunctions which can cause those 'nodes' making in its glands), so finally I was sent to the endocrinology where I was blood tested. Also I got the needle biopsy as well before but they were not able to say it's 100% benign from the sample so still there were thoughts like 'what if I have cancer' on my mind. The worst was I could notice that everyone around me seemed more scared than me. Then I was thinking myself 'this is so unfair' or 'why me' and truly I can tell that those were the worst weeks in my life.
Luckily the blood results didn't show anything so I simply have a 3cm 'ball' in my thyroid (I was told it "just happened" sometimes, oh well), but still I should get a surgery because 'it can get bigger and bigger'.
I'm really scared of hospitals, also I don't feel like taking a pill every day for the rest of my life and also I don't wanna have a scar on my neck, but now I think I should get rid of this bump because once we could get high with our hormonal drugs or fight over whose scar is prettier, haha!
I'm crossing all of my fingers for you and I believe that soon you'll be alright. And if I've learned something in my life, then that everything is only in your mind, so stay positive and things will seem much easier!

Ricky, I have had Thyroid canser in both sides and i went thru it, i'm still alive :). I hope the best! :). I had only weekend in ishalition to get it cured.. i eat Thyroid hormone everyday and they do monitor it still :). You can get through it!

Hey Ricky, I just wanted to write this to say just how proud I am of you. I've been thinking it has been quite close to the anniversary of this video. Finding out you had cancer a week after receiving the same news about my grandmother, was so hard, holding back my emotions about my grandmother until I heard about you just made it all come out at once which was not healthy. I consider you a very close friend and this past year I've gotten to know you and your family a lot more. I'm so blessed that you are still here, happy healthy and I'm sure even my grandmother who isn't here now and who has never have met you will be looking down on you and being proud like me, for being such a true inspiration to everyone going through this. I love you, I will always be standing by💕

Totally know how you feel im only 32yo and 3 months ago i just found out i have Congestive Heart Failure. and like you i have always been very healthy and no major problems. So hearing those words and find out that i only have 15 years or so before im dead or need a new heart is a life changing event. But good things for you that there has been many huge advances with cancer in the past 10 years and you should pull through this just fine. My Dad had bladder cancer and now 5 or so years later he is doing just fine and it has not returned. Good lucky and hope you recover quickly.
It's been a year since I got 2/3 of my thyroid removed. It got removed cause I also had a little bump on my neck. After surgery we learned that I had cancer so I had to undergo some radioactive treatment to get all of my thyroid out. I pretty fine now but I get tired more often than before but everything's good.
