I work for a national auto parts chain and despite the CEO bragging about how we made record profits in the 1st quarter of the year our sales at my store are off about 40%. In fact every store in my district is off about 40% so I bet many are. Usually this time of year things are booming but so far this year not really. We have had our moments but usually one good day will follow by a disastrous day(s). A lot of complaints about pricing especially from our commercial customers. People literally come in and want something and walk out when that little sensor is $200. Most of our customers don't speak English and have a government cash card. If it was not for all these illegals getting government cash cards the economy would have already collapsed!

We have red lobster in Vallejo, California and in Fairfield California. Many years ago we took my son there for his birthday dinner and the place was just swarming with flies and the service was horrible and so we’ve never gone back. It’s probably been over 20 years.
I live in the Maryland, metro DC area. In Maryland four Red Lobsters have "temporarily closed" on their web pages. One is closing in a busy downtown area which I'm very surprised by. My family has enjoyed Red Lobster but we have not been recently.
I attend a Bible Study at the local McDonalds every Tuesday. For the last three or so months the number of regular diners (besides us) has dropped down to three people today. A nearby auto repair facility a few months ago had cars parked everywhere for service. I counted six cars today.
We barely have any Red Lobsters left here in Texas. Never was a fan. Haven’t eat out anywhere in years. All poisoned with Chemicals anymore. We eat totally Organic anymore. No processed foods at all. Food chain being destroyed. Making people sick.

That sign has been there for two years. at LEAST 30-40 men, not "american looking" sitting at the end of the parking lot, overturned carts, one guy cooking ON a cart. They look unemployed. But the sign says NOW HIRING So why aren't they filling out applications? CAN tjhey speak the language to fill out the applications? You see where this is going, don't 'cha?
Last year I opened up a Home Depot credit card for some home renovations. I paid it off with no interest. And Red Lobster's shrimp scampi is delicious!
My sister works for a medium size bank in St . Paul , MN credit department. Basically, 50% of the people are not paying off their balance . Also, the amount of people adding to their saving accounts has been a substantial drop. Hold On!!! In Omaha , grocery prices are headed up 😩 and many shelves are empty.

Yes I agree that Red Lobster is a middle class restaurant at about the same level as Applebees. Up in the California Bay Area they’ve been struggling since 2021 and was a direct rival to Sizzler’s Restaurant several years ago. It’s another sign of the times of how many name brand restaurant chains are in a pit if trouble right now with lack of discretionary money from customers experiencing financial hardships to the commercial banking loans starting to go belly-up! All this despite the Labor Department and Wall Street lying to us saying our economy is somehow strong and great! Expect more restaurants and stores to go bankrupt this year and in 2025.

As for lobster and shrimp dinners, people are making their own home cooking by buying fresh seafood from Asian markets. As for the CFO of Home Depot, they have agreed to abide by ESG, DEI, LGBTQ WEF mandates for corporations and are giving excuses with numbers and figures, when interest rates are too high you have to be flexible and bend the rules to strive. Many other corporations will give the same excuse other than blame its' top executives. Let me see what have I bought from HD, windows over 10 years ago which amount to $10,000 grand, a whole house installed now its over $20,000 grand.
I think many people are basically spending on what they have to spend on. They may have to do a home repair and sometimes once the repair is made it my have turned into an improvement. I don't think a lot of people are doing home improvement projects like new cabinets, new bathrooms & new flooring because they don't have the money. Most things are more expensive including the basics and I think people who are really aware of what's happening ared conserving their money to the best of their ability.
Questions for anybody (simply for discussion purposes): What will become of those empty restaurant buildings? Will RL break the leases or continue to pay until they expire? Do you have other empty restaurant buildings near you? If so, do you miss the restaurants which formerly occupied those spaces?
So the landlord gets rent, some jobs are provided and some taxes are collected. Arguably better than a vacant building. But when the dispensaries’ customers consume the product and become hungry, where are they going to eat?
