Have you ever thought about making a map that goes against all the mapping guidelines you talk about (streams, over/undermapping, etc)? I think it would be interesting to see what you would consider a really uncomfortable map that still follows proper timing/bpm.
GoldenWolf is a master at creating and handling streams and i recommend everyone to check his maps and find reasoning why did this and that. It will be kinda easy to understand after watching this video, plus his maps will help to assimilate this info. He has an idea for every map, and they differ, plus he's doing it while sticking to his own style. So, that's will be basically how to make stream in 1000 ways.
before anyone else doesn't understand my comment i was just repeating 2:52, a little "funny joke", if you will, a little cheeky comment since I liked that part of the video quite a bit
I don't think you realise how tone or context doesn't come across in text over the internet, your comment honestly made you sound a little stupid like you hadn't watched the video
Would like to see some discussion on how spacing changes affect gameplay (streamjumps/doublestreamjumps/accelerating/spaced stream , ...). Solid video nonetheless.
Ah sorry for that, I meant the 2-note streamjumps popularised by HanzeR in his Miss You map. Well you did talk about using spacing for emphasis but you didn't really talk about how they play. In my opinion those are quite edgy to play and maps that use these patterns must have a very clear concept on when to use them, which is a hard thing for newer mappers to achieve and often executed horribly (tbh even experienced mappers have trouble executing them properly imo). I think you are aware of this and you kind of(?) addressed it saying that they were included in your previous videos, but I thought you would give more insights to them.
when you are done with the mapping series. could you do a sort of "live modding" series, where you look at new mappers map where you talk about: what elements are good/bad, what could be changed to make the map better etc. this might be a risk and videos might take a long time, but I would watch them + it might help mappers struggling to find mods get some exposure. I think it would be cool and it could help out us low tier mappers get better.
Thanks, your vids inspire me to get straight into the editor and start mapping something. By the way guys, if you want to learn more about streams, "A Mo" (name of the youtube channel) also has a great video about them, cheers.
i like your tutorials, i have 2 notes for them: 1. do you use capital letters? i dont either 2. could you make a video comparing simple maps vs complex ones? some maps are made very linearly, with not lot of creativity in the spacing
Attempting to map a song with extratone elements in it. Should I use: -1/4 streams at 1200 BPM (fuck no) -Buzz sliders such that the clicking pattern is the same as a 300 BPM stream (auto can't SS) -Buzz sliders such that the clicking pattern is the same as a 150 BPM stream (feels too slow but auto still might be unable to SS) -Normal 300 BPM streams (undermapping) -Normal sliders (undermapping even more, but also not really at the same time?)
Is mapping suppose to be difficult? I feel likes its suppose to be enjoying because you can do whatever you want basically. Maybe Im just stupid but i feel i get stuck sometimes and then I second my guess myself if the rhythm is on beat, etc
So I'm trying to map this song and I'm running out of creative jumps and patterns. Should I continue to make the song more "fun" by creating different jump patterns or use similar patterns to emphasize the song? Which is better for ranking it? Btw I've never mapped anything before if you could tell.
I'm sorry I'm late but I have a terminology question, if streams aren't spaced and distance between centers of the notes is more than 1/2 of their diameter how do we call them? Or there is no special term?
What do you think about using 1/4 sliders inbetween the streams to emphasize specific parts of the sound like in the case of My Spirit Will Go On, where the sliders are put inbetween the streams?
I saw the examples of starting/ending a stream with a 1/4 slider, but I didn't saw you taking as an example of putting those inbetween the streams, I guess you're right, they actually do the same, you discussed in the video, my bad :D
if it's like the hardest difficulty in your mapset and there's a stream during the chorus of the song that your mapping and it has like, really loud sounds, yeah go for it.
You are not a real man until you snap every note in a stream.

You should've mentioned Hanzer streams or streams of 2's, they're decently common in technical maps ^^ Good video as usual though :D
at some point i will talk about those probably

Do slider streams pls. Them streams when instead of circles it’s 1/4 or 1/8 sliders. I looooooove sliders

i don't think uncomfortable = difficulty
Can someone tell me how do you convert slider into stream? I'm searching for it everywhere

6:07 map?
What do you think about using 1/4 sliders inbetween the streams to emphasize specific parts of the sound like in the case of My Spirit Will Go On, where the sliders are put inbetween the streams?
hard to know what you mean. there's a lot of 1/4 sliders between streams on that map and it seems like they follow the ideas i talk about here
I saw the examples of starting/ending a stream with a 1/4 slider, but I didn't saw you taking as an example of putting those inbetween the streams, I guess you're right, they actually do the same, you discussed in the video, my bad :D
How do I put continuous groups of circles in the editor? Am I supposed to manually put each note in the editor for each stream?
i can't do fluid motion for some reason
There's so effing much too mapping. That it's almost not worth.
could you make a video about guest diffs or just explain it briefly?
Hoichael45 guest diffs are difficulties made by people, and they are sent through giving the .osu to the beatmap creator
This is great and all but... how do u actually make the streams themselves :-:
ctrl+f on a slider, or using distance snap to map the streams
So you are saying weird angles make it harder?
1:00 wtf is with the title of the map
Just asking , should I use spaced stream in my map ?
if it's like the hardest difficulty in your mapset and there's a stream during the chorus of the song that your mapping and it has like, really loud sounds, yeah go for it.
how to switch the slider?
what skin do you use? .
i already asked it in another video of yours but no answer...
Look in older videos ^^ in old videos are a link for the skin ^^
EDIT: Look in the video ''osu!mapping: basic spacing''
Streams on osu are impossible for me. I cant press two keys in a rythm. For example : Z X Z X Z X etc, rather my brain goes Zxz ZZX xzx XZZX
you're meant to just alternate dude, it's not hard
How do u place streams tho
Your "Hello There"s are slowing down...
subliminal 8)
What about continuous 1/4 wide jumps? What are they useful for?
not sure what you mean
my guess is spaced streams cause they play differently than normal ones at least from my experience
pishifat something like blue dragon's airman. Continuous 1/4 jumps. Do u think doing that throughout the map is good or bad?
Where do you see 1/4jumps in airman ?
AyanokoRin everywhere lol
notification squad boyzzz
But how do you place it?
So you basiclly say: dont map shit patterns... (at the start)
how do I make streams that don't look like ass though :(
quaternary make them a smooth line
use a slider to determine an automatically curved slider oh shit this comment was ancient
Your videos sound like ASMRs
