    What happens if you're a Republic supporter, is there an alternative oath?

      I think Colum Eastwood (SDLP) takes the oath but makes a clarification that he doesnt believe in it I think

      iirc a Northern Ireland MP made her protest known before speaking the affirmation.

      No, because we aren't a Republic. Love or hate the monarchy, that is just how it is I'm afraid

      @mildlydispleased3221 yes sure, but we're also a constitutional monarchy and a democracy. Supporting a republic is a legitimate view point. So I think a compromise is what the SDLP MP did, go through the process but qualify it.
