I have been playing 37yrs and never in my life have I ever heard such perfection like that. Goosebumps is just the word. Im not kidding the hairs on my neck are standing up.
I have played my new Yamaha Genos2 for the passed three days and I must say, it's absolutely amazing! However, it takes lots to know how to use, however if you're willing to really dig into the manual and learn, then you're onto a treat for a lifetime. Leigh is a wizard on the Yamaha Genos2 and previous and I positively sure he has spent years perfecting his knowledge and capabilities in order to come to such an extraordinary knowhow. Absolutely divine Leigh ... Thank you
I’m new to your channel and I’m very happy to have found you…my Genos 2 arrives in 5 days time and I’ll be a patron the day after - I’m so looking forward to watching all you videos
Greetings from Las Vegas, love the Genos 2.. Absolutely beautiful Leigh, you are an awesome talent... The Genos 2 makes my DGX 650 sound old and worn out... Thanks for sharing your knowledge and love for music with us.
Well, you convinced me from the first time I heard the Genos 2, that I wanted one, and I just treated myself for my birthday on Sunday to a rare second hand one from Hamiltons music. Such a nice company to deal with, so helpful. And it's got the expansion packs etc. I can't wait to try it!! Thanks for all of your marvelous tips and playing!
@@LeighWilbrahamit's just an expansion memory stick with a stack of stuff that I've not really had time to look at yet, but I'm a bit disappointed with the more ethereal styles in the Easy Listening, far more on the Tyros 5! I'm sure I remember you doing a video that you had installed another pack which had a lot more, I seem to remember even writing it down but now can't find it! I will be joining the Patreon!
These videos are so useful in showing what the Genos 2 can do. Thank you for explaining how to set up this feature. My Genos 2 arrived yesterday and it was 1am before I could drag myself away from it. What a wonderful instrument - the styles are wonderful!!!
Hi Leigh, that is absolutely brilliant, that looks like that could be another know how video you could do how to put the audio onto a multi pad, she has a good voice and your fab improvising Del
Hi Leigh Another wow moment. I was thinking the other day that my late wife would have absolutely been amazed, not only by your demos but also the capabilities of this instrument. She could play very well and was a professional singer, mark you it would have taken her a month of Sundays to get her head around the technology, but that said, to have what amounts to a very high quality recording studio in one instrument would have enthralled her.
That was beautiful, Leigh, but have I missed something? Where are the audio tracks of singers? Come on, Leigh, I'm hungry to know how you did all this magic! Please tell us !
MOISES app, that uses AI technology to separate the audio tracks from any audio music, so you can adjust the volume of each tracks individually, mute any of them and export the audio as you wish. It is a very usefull and handy tool for any musician.
I received Genos2 yesterday. Finally. But i already found something Yamaha should enhance....The "Ambiant Depth" Ambiant Drum function is only availeble for styles and not for midifiles....That's a real bummer...🤔 I openend a case with Yamaha to explain to me why this is....
Yeh, love it! Great style choice Leigh... and what a lovely voice that young lass has! I'm sure one of the church organ styles would give it that authentic "Sunday Morning" touch - but oh, for goodness sake, please don't even think about a techno or (k) rap backing!! 😉 Seriously, I'm sure you too saw the Polish launch video of Genos2 where the presenter used dozens of vocal wav recordings which, like your performances here, REALLY showed-off the power and authenticity of the new Genos2. I'm going now... I just have to go over and play my Yammy again! 😵💫
Leigh I love how you play it sounds better than most Yamaha Bartenders. LOL. You play so effortlessly. I wish I knew if you studied notes. I play all by ear and I would love to know how to play harmony but I started way to young and couldn't be taught notes if you took a hammer to me.
I've been doing this on my original Genos for a while now and play/use it professionally. I prefer not to use the audio track buttons because once you start them you're committed, they have to play right through. I put the audio track (vocals) into one of player A so I can start the song anywhere (can't do that with the buttons). I then either play a style along in sync with audio or load a midi file into player B and mute the keyboard parts so I become the keyboard player in the band so to speak.
If you slice the vocals in a Daw and then assign to the multipads you also have control over the chorus, verse etc... really useful for even greater control.
I cannot believe what I’ve just heard. Absolutely stunning. I just wish I knew how to import the audio files. If you have any tutorials please let me know?
For years I saved up for a PSR S900. By the time I had the money it was a PSR S975 that I bought. I thought I had all I needed. This is just cruel. Now I have a bigger saving mountain I MUST climb.
Hi, Light, i am very attract bi the GENOS 2 abilitys, but also touched by the "singing" Voice too. But the most interest for now, is the Lyrictext "The Vioce"" is singing. Would you pleas post it here in the Chanel somwhere? Or do you have a source of the English-Lyrics? Thank you for this Chanel, i love it.
All he has done is loaded an audio / wav file for the vocal track into the multipads so you can trigger them whenever you want. This has been around in Yamaha arranger keyboards (PSR and Tyros + other brands) for over 10 years... nothing revolutionary here... what makes it sound so good is the quality of the vocal track. The singing is amazing...
Now imagine the Genos paired with a powerful looper… You could build your own choir on the fly accompanying you when you‘re singing. Or - with a little help from AI - have a duett on a song you composed with Paul McCartney or even John Lennon for that matter. Or you could ask some fellow musicians to sing song backup parts for you that you could trigger with the Genos‘ pads when the chorus part of your song comes around. Or - if you can play guitar - play the solo of Hotel California with an absolutely authentic first voice. The sounds of the Genos are highly processed in the studio - individually microphoned, EQed, dynamically flattened out etc. If you wanted the rawness of a live band, you‘re out of luck with the Genos alone. But in combination with a looper, you‘re in business. You could use the bass, keys, and orchestral sounds from the Genos and have the looper do the rest. The authenticity would be amazing - just as is demonstrated here with one example. Of course you‘d have to be able to play different instruments or have some friends that can help. 😊 The Genos actually is a looper. It‘s a MIDI-Looper with an under-developed wave-player. You could hook the Genos up with a professional grade looper, but this marriage isn‘t always a happy one, because the Genos is also an underperformer in the MIDI control department. You can sync the Genos with the looper, and you can even use CCs on a reserved MIDI channel to trigger specific looper tracks, but it won‘t work with fills or variations, as you‘d have to have everything mapped out, taking the flexibility styles can give you away completely. And that is where I don‘t understand Yamaha (or Korg, Roland, or the rest of the gang) anymore. Looper software is nothing new and the power of an old iPhone is enough to have a wave-player work together with a MIDI player and add a multitude of effects and vocal processing. The programming of the necessary OS and GUI wouldn‘t require rocket science either. So why after 6 years+ of development time did they miss that chance to not only excite older men (used to their antique Tyros and PSR concepts) and win some younger and pro musician folks over, too?
And I forgot to ask you (if it's allowed) - have you any pointers/personal recommendations for us all as to some good quality web sites for these vocal-only tracks?
Br Yamaha must bring the Screen tilting option like KORG PA5X to bring the beauty of the unique music instrument for next update Without the tilt screen it's a big disappointment
I agree, broadway productions is definitely the best style for that. The first one is similar, but that one is just better, especially because the bass goes down so low. I'm glad they do it in this case. Usually, they stick to standard tuning for a bass for realism's sake, which can't go lower than e.
JUST WHAT I'VE WANTED TO HEAR MOST - THE AUDIO - Do you notice any difference in the sound quality in the audio file uploads from 1 to 2... how does Genos 2 compare from Genos 1 other than the new styles?

$7500 in AUD for GENOS2 - happy with PSRSX700- nowhere near tapping the potential . Of course playing 2 manuals and pedals is fun too! I guess AI will give us individual musicians with quirks in the next iteration! It is all coming from SWP70 chips after all - ELS/Genos/Montage- just with a different operating system.
