Dude you musta blew a fortune on all those skis! I only have 3 pairs, 2 for climbing and backcountry and 1 for resort. And they cost me a LOT!

I appreciate this video. I have the Raven, 75 cm, I'm 6' 7" tall. I used it on Mt Adams in Washington but I felt I was always bent way over....and carried a trekking pole. Am I doing this right? I look at the small axes and think OMG why would I ever?

For some climbs, I use a trekking pole in one hand and the ice axe in the other. That way I can balance with the pole and arrest with the axe.

I want to start mountaineering. I live in NH and plan on taking a 5 day intro course at Mt Washington through North East Mountaineering. Probably in December or January. What would be a sort of "beginner kit" to buy? I know I need to get good pants, a good jacket, boots, wool socks, wool base layers, and ice axe, etc. I already have a jetboil, backpacking pack, and other backpacking equipment as I have been hikijg and backpacking for several years. Any advice on this or any type of "beginner" equipment list you have?
