    About Honest Tea Talk
    with Aliyah, LaYinka & Sumayah
Inspired by Jada Pinkett-Smith's 'Red Table Talk', 3 Muslim women have set up a platform to speak openly and honestly, giving viewers an unedited insight into the minds and life of Muslim women. Honest Tea Talk brings deep and often unspoken topics to the table to lay down our masks and start much-needed discussions about matters related to Muslim women and the ummah at large.

ASC sisters I wanted to ask your opinion on something I have been reading a book on women’s rights in Islam and I wanted a few things cleared up. The book mentions how men are the standard and how we shouldn’t compete to be them which I agree with to a certain exact I.e wanting to dress like them and please them bg revealing ourselves for their desires which I also strongly agree with. The book mentions how non Muslim women are enslaved by men’s gaze by being used in billboards and adverts for men’s gaze and says how Muslim women don’t have to do that. However when I Muslim women gets married she is explicitly told she cannot refuse if her husband comes to her for intimacy because he might comment a sin because of that need to fulfill even to the extent when if she wants to fast non obligatory fast she must ask him for permission. Why is it her responsibility to basically make sure that her husband doesn’t cheat the same as the women he should be able to control his desires and not basically be animalistic how is that honouring a women’s if she’s basically just being used anytime a husband wants to get his fix and she just has to comply like a slave basically the same as the non Muslim women being used by men to just sleep with and know it’s her husband but she’s still being used.
Secondary the book mentions how we only obey Allah obviously because he is our creator which I obviously agree with and our worth and value lies with him but then Islam asks women’s to obey there husbands on things that are obviously not against the deen. So if women are so honoured and we only get our value and worth from Allah why is that we must obey another human being surely only god is worth of being obeyed and again I think this concept of obeying makes women at the mercy of men just like non Muslim women are also at the same mercy but obviously in a different way.
3rdly women wanting to work so called ‘men’s jobs’ such as Dr’s or engineering and how women being in the work force has effected society yet as Muslims living in a non Muslims contry and also Muslim contraries we want segregated care for things such as Dr’s appointments or midwives and teachers for our children. I guess this contradicts with what Islam wants women to be but what Muslim society needs.
Ultimately I agree with Islam freeing us of the societies standards of being judged for our looks and not anything else and not being sexualised to please men. But when a Muslim women gets married she ends up being just that she’s cursed by the angels if she refuses to fulfill her husbands physical demands and I guess if he commits a sin it’s basically her fault. She needs to ask him for permission to leave the house obey him I want some clarification of what things you need to actually obey a husband on obviously not praying or fasting. And then the issue of work aswell. Many thanks I hope you are in the best of health Inshallah sorry it’s really long.

Watch Maryam Amir's (she's a scholar too subhanAllah) video talking about sexual intimacy on tik tok and im pretty sure on youtube, she clears up so much. I believe for someone to say sexual intercourse is a need, is a little execive as sexual intimacy isnt like food and water, you can survive without it for a period of time but Allahu alam. Maybe, it becomes a need for both spouces ONLY amongst themsleves. Also, i compelely understand and agree with you. This narrative of 'she didnt give it to you, its your fault' is internaisled misogny and yet again finding a way to blame the innoccent women for the dirty works of her husband, its HIS fault...period.
TW-r*pists & m*lestors have been in intimate relationships with their girlfriend or wife, such as a serial killer Ted B yet they still r**** and mol***** innoccent women, although they had s** with their significant other. If someone didnt recieve it from their significant other and they go do something bad to someone else, that means they are most likely psycologically damaged, unhealthily desprate animals, evil has took over them. And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another-Quran.
