Great demo 🎉 Since I’m impatient and don’t want to wait for open stock in the U.S. I just ordered these from Cult Pens. Can’t wait to see you use the new colors in a painting ❤
I got mine from Cult Pens yesterday. Oooh that beautiful smell when I opened my mailbox. I also ordered a bunch of lumis, pablos and polys open stock. You got free shipping on orders over $135 so I was trying to get there. I went a bit over but 🤷🏼♀️I agree with you on most of the colors. Sugar plum stood out right away but I was kind of let down after I saw your swatches. I have to take my stickers off and swatch them myself. I’m a little busy coloring a mermaid at the moment. Thank you for sharing!
I noticed Blick now has the 100 set on the website available sometime next week. So I'm hoping they will have open stock around the same time. Full set syndrome, so I'll need them all. 😂
I contacted blick today to ask them about open stock - they have no date planned for open stock for the new inktense colors. And per blick they will not be releasing a set of just the 28 because Derwent has not released the 28 as a set. Appears that Cult Pens may have created the set possibly
@@jocelyncharleswood5430 So the 28 are not a set, no. Cult Pens created that 28 just to make it easier for ordering -- they have always done that including with Derwent Lightfast. However, Blick has been giving mixed information. I have received answers that 1. the new colors will be here as open stock by end of July, another said 2. in the fall for the open stock. I have had one sub hear that they have NO intention of getting the new open stock colors what-so-ever. So, honestly, I would not believe anything they say lol. That said, yes, the 28 set is not something anyone would carry. Cult Pens has always made it easy to get open stock colors in a bundle. When Derwent Lightfast released colors and even Lumis, they offered them in a set so you didn't have to hunt down each individual open stock. Blick should have the colors open stock by themselves soon though (if I can believe what they say)
Hi Kori, long time…I received my new 28 Inktense last week but I wasn’t home!😎 I love all the new colors but I do agree with you on the like colors. I fell in love with most of the colors but Amethyst I about died for, it’s so beautiful! It’s really lovely to have 100 Inktense, even if some colors are alike. As always, Kori you did an excellent review…Thank you so much!
I’ve just watched Lisa at Lachri Fine Art paint a gorgeous painting with Inktense. Not the new colours, but my goodness she is good with this medium. It’s also great to hear you using Cult Pens. Such an awesome U.K. shop, who somehow started life as an SQL database company!
@@ColorfullyOptimistic The customer service is great and the range is very good now. I’m disappointed that they stopped selling the 150 boxes of Prismacolor pencils though. You knew you were buying a well looked after product from them.

@@ColorfullyOptimistic In Germany. Maybe its not so bad I couldn't find them yet though, my wallet is still crying from Prismacolor refills, with the inflation they're up to about 2,60$ per pencil. 🥲

Thank you so much for putting out this video! I only recently learned that Derwent added some new colors to their Inktense line. Seeing the comparison between existing colors and the new colors quickly made me realize that I don't need the full set of 28, so I ordered the 12 that most appealed and saved myself $30! :-)
I bit the bullet Kori! I’ve been wanting the entire lot of these since I heard they were coming out. I thought about getting only the ones you suggested but then FSS happened and I really like the case they come in. Only one more set on my list to get and I’m trying to talk myself out of them (Holbeins). Ugh!
I will definitely get a few(Malibu, light amethyst and the mint green) open stock! Thank you for doing the large swatch chart. 🎉❤ I totally concurred with your pro/nay choices 😂
Awesome video ya after seeing multiple swatches I realized I only wanted a few of the new colors ! I don’t need so many blues, yellows and reds lol! Im excited mainly the greens , browns and malibu . That Jungle color was sorely missed in the okd set goad they finally added and “normal” type green. Hopefully blick will get them soon
Really love them... Got my set from CultPens a few days ago. The labels came off super easy with just using my finger nail and didn't leave residue..yay!
Thanks for your review. I would be interested to see how each colour washes out. I find that when i lay down the colours they are very vibrant and strong, and i like to see what it is like when more water to the wash. As you say a small swatch is great to see the colours all together.
Thanks for the review! I just ordered the new set of 28 from Cult pens with your link. I just want to add, in case some folks may not know, that Blick carries a delightful little Derwent Inktense pastel palette with 12 colors. It comes with a little travel size water pen and a sponge you can wet to clean it. The lighter colors were definitely needed.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. I agree with your choices for open stock as I found I had to mix with my Museum Aquarelle. Like you I don’t want to mix. I go straight to paper. I’ll tell Claire thank you too. Both swatch sheets are helpful but in totally different ways so I greatly appreciated your showing us both. Blessings Nancy Rolfe

No problem. I mean some are very close to one another so it might not be necessary to get them all, but the open stock price makes it almost cheaper to buy the 28 -- at least if you get them right now. Later that will change I'm sure.
I ordered these the first day they opened up the preorder and mine are still not here. 😩 Lucky you! I’m sure mine will be here in a day or so….I hope.😃 I too picked up this color chart from Claire…I can’t wait!
Edit..I see the link 😂 Do they sell them individually? I have been using my inktense on both my Chinese traditional painting AND western style-primarily for permanent backgrounds I can paint over. If you use them as much as I do, I’m sure you know about the textured Caran D’Arche Palette? Scribble some inktense, add a drop of water & paint! 😁. Add more paint into the wet, or more water. Also, since I’ve given away (“loans” apparently no longer exist) all but two of my Chinese ink stones..(including an elaborately carved antique ink stone I try not to use and if I do, I only use my best black ink sticks on it)…but I also have a collection of antique colored ink sticks-not many, all made from natural minerals, they stick mostly to primaries. The problem is these colored ink sticks are tough on my ink stones; that was how I discovered the textured palette. Then, inktense opened the door to SO much more! Because of the “traditional color scandal” currently going on in China; I’ve got 2 older professors now using inktense. In fact, a few weeks ago a Govt official criticized Dr Chen for not using traditional sticks and/or chips/paint in one of his recent renovations in the Forbidden City. Myself and others happily replied that if the Govt would classify traditional paints as an intangible cultural heritage-as they’ve done for all other traditional materials; MAYBE these huge companies, who until the past 5-10yrs had made ONLY traditional paints, would go back to the high quality paints & pigments they were known for for over 400yrs. But..the western market they branched into is so profitable, even with an ICH classification, they’ll do what some brush makers have done and move the factory out of China (there ARE still high quality, humanely produced Chinese brushes, my brilliant late Son spent 2 days with one and I have some brushes made just for me, including a goat brush from a spring haircut of a young goat and my favorite horse hair brush, made from the artists own horse-a spring trimming of her mane and hair. My rabbit hair brush, from the artist’s wife’s collection of long-haired rabbits..a BIT harder to paint with…for me). Anyways, the topic of paints being protected and overseen was brought up in the People’s congress in Feb and we think it might get its classification before the end of the year. While they don’t allow lobbying or things like political donations..billionaires like the owners of Marie’s, and the parent company of Paul Ruben’s and Super-Vision, still have more power than they should. But, artists, professors, students and other artists who happily adhere to their over a thousand years of art material production..THEY also have a loud voice right now. Even the famous Spring Festival Gala in Jan had a 5-minute dance, music and 3-D beautiful computer generated background…on Traditional Chinese Colors..kind of a nudge…it’s just not old ladies in the US Poconos with big mouths! 😂 Although I DO still have my antique ink sticks and paints and chips I got before the quality plummeted..I’ve spent almost a year experimenting with western materials to find those I can either use on xuan paper without any added binders (inktense) OR paint we can use with slight adaptations..(Rosa’s gallery, using brush water with some dissolved mingjiao..a “fish glue”, odorless, made from fish bones, was used in almost all Asian paints until Vegans screamed of the inhumanity of using thrown out fish bones from restaurants & factories…no offense to civil vegans and vegetarians. I’m primarily a vegetarian, which is why my son spent 2 days with the brush maker. 😂) PLEASE let us know if we can find any of these pencils in singles..VERY interested in the pale pink & purple! I’ve been mixing my carmine pink & white..but just can’t get it where I want, ditto for the purple. Also that blue.. 😍. A pale blue is a bit easier to achieve..but in my traditional paintings, my “mineral blue”, kind of a non-granulating (when using my paint chips or tubes..my ink stick has granulation if I need it) cerulean, is what I normally fall back on. Actually, my chips & ink stick, according to Prof Chen, are made with Lapiz and in mass tone, are much more vibrant than the paint..which he says has some chalk mixed in. Still though, haven’t found a western eqivilant
PS Hard to tell: how transparent are the pink flamingo, amethyst, lapis (which, on your chart looks like Iris?), and Malibu? For how I use these..(mostly, if I need opaque, I can mix with my ink sticks..or even some of my chips), I need colors with at least MOSTLY transparent. If you know anything about Asian painting..black INK is our “Host”, colors are our “guests”. There are many different techniques, but especially in landscapes, the entire ink outlines & backgrounds are usually painted first. I will frequently put down a light gray mist, then, after it’s dry, apply some watered down deep indigo, maybe with a touch of my more vibrant mineral blue. Another group of paints I didn’t mention..I use them a LOT in western style..but we’re still working on a way to use them on xuan, are the PrimaTeks. These paints excite my Chinese friends for obvious reasons..but trying to get them over there is nearly impossible. I have a friend who picks up a supply every time he travels to Taiwan and sells them in his coffee shop when he returns. He’s originally from the UK, and on a recent visit, he picked up a bunch of European brands (WN, Schminke, RS and one made entirely from botanical pigments, Lutea). Artists weren’t really interested.,they asked him if he’d gotten any handmade paints in earth colors 😂. I’m working with a handmade paint artist here to get some of her natural pigments overseas…only adding the gum Arabic & some glycerin since many earth pigments sre hard to reset. We’ve TRIED to get her some Asian binders, the aforementioned mingjiao and peach sap gum-very similar to gum Arabic..but, unfortunately, customs seems to have issues with bags of white or amber-colored powder from China. 🤷🏼♀️😂. All this talk reminded me..I need to do a floral for a friend for Mother’s Day. I’m doing it western style (mostly..I don’t use western brushes..9years using my Chinese brushes spoiled me 😁). I wanted to do a pale, vintage-type pink background for the mostly white & yellow flowers..PP just didn’t work, so I’m going to go try and play with my inktense to try and get the shade..and permanence, I’m looking for. Using the PP, as soon as I started doing some black outlines and highlights on top, the PP came up & mixed with them. Like I said, some Chinese techniques & materials spoiled me. On the other hand, things like masking fluid, most of the wet on wet techniques, or just lifting color..are difficult or impossible on xuan paper. (Believe me, I’ve torn far too many sheets of extremely thin, extremely absorbent xuan trying 😂…although, I learned from my bunny in the moon last fall that the paper can actually be repaired…at least in smaller areas. My eldest daughter was so impressed with the 3-D effect in my moon, she’s using xuan in her multi-media works. 🤷🏼♀️😂)
I just got my set today but sad to see a couple pencils were missing from the roll. Contacted them and will await the missing pencils to arrive. Where can I find the swatch sheet that you used since I also prefer the larger swatch area (squares) I am looking forward to your live tomorrow! Thank you and TFS.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Hi I searched that name on Deviant Art and it just came up with loads of digitally coloured images. Can you give a direct link please?
I watched a few videos like this trying to decide which colors to buy. When I made up my mind I was leaving I think 6 colors out. Then I went to order from Cult Pens and the total of the ones I wanted open stock was less than $5 away from the full 28, so I ended up buying them all since I also got the nice roll which I'm thinking I can use for the Graphitint (whenever I pick those up lol).
Yeah, the only way to get free shipping is spending over $135 USD I believe...and by then you might as well just pay the shipping unless you can really spend that much.
Thanks for sharing. My set arrived yesterday. I had printed out the color chart fro Colour with Claire and when I swatched mine out, the printed lines blead everywhere. Could you please share what you used to print your charts out? I'd love to know so I can redo mine. Thanks in advanced
I use a laser jet printer -- I highly recommend them if you print charts/coloring pages because the ink will not bleed like an inkjet. If you are using an inkjet, you can look for replacement inks that are not watersoluble, or spray it with fixative first.
I'm so happy for you that you were able to get those. Maybe someday I will be able to get more than just the 12 set of inktense. As it stands I really don't use them because I don't have the kind of colors that I would although I would just love to be able to add them to my arsenal of art supplies.
Thank you so much for showing 💚 I love hearing your thoughts on them. I do have theses, and I think they are worth it. There are a few I'd probably not buy open stock, but most of them I definitely would get. Though I think they still miss some natural greens and browns, like for example terracotta. But this is better then nothing and when it comes to Inktense, I take what I get😂

Although I DO still have my antique ink sticks and paints and chips I got before the quality plummeted..I’ve spent almost a year experimenting with western materials to find those I can either use on xuan paper without any added binders (inktense) OR paint we can use with slight adaptations..(Rosa’s gallery, using brush water with some dissolved mingjiao..a “fish glue”, odorless, made from fish bones, was used in almost all Asian paints until Vegans screamed of the inhumanity of using thrown out fish bones from restaurants & factories…no offense to civil vegans and vegetarians. I’m primarily a vegetarian, which is why my son spent 2 days with the brush maker. 😂)
PLEASE let us know if we can find any of these pencils in singles..VERY interested in the pale pink & purple!
Chinese traditional painting looks really awesome
I just got my set today but sad to see a couple pencils were missing from the roll. Contacted them and will await the missing pencils to arrive. Swatched the ones i receieved out in my "Painter's Color Diary" and they are vivid as usual. Agree with your assessment about the new colors. My faves are amethyst, gold, and Lapis.
Oh no missing some? How odd. Def reach out to them.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic yeah they must have been moving fast to fulfill orders. I guess mistakes bound to happen. They are sending the two pencils I didn’t get. (Mango being one of them ;))
Hi! Ive been putting off watching because i was afraid.😂
FFS gotta have them all.
Thanks for the review girl.
LOL well, if you want to avoid any colors too close, definitely consider the ones I felt were a lot alike.
I just bought mine from Cult pens! Thanks for the info on these! I can't wait to get them!! 😁👍
For sure! They're pricey, but they're new...so its expected lol
These are pretty new colors for sure. I have the 36 count set. Once I practice and get better using them I will most likely order a bigger set when on sale. Where can I find the swatch sheet that you used since I also prefer the larger swatch area (squares) I am looking forward to your live tomorrow! Thank you and TFS.
The larger box chart is from Mystic Sparkle Wings on Deviant Art.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Ok, thank you!
Ha yeah the open stock are pricey so it’s cheaper to just get them all until that rate goes down
I saw them on Cult Pens. I really had to talk myself down cause that shipping cost....whew! Going to try to hold off, but appreciate your feedback!
They aren’t for everyone and they’re def pricey. Nothing wrong with putting off buying them.
Thank you so much for showing 💚 I love hearing your thoughts on them.
I do have theses, and I think they are worth it. There are a few I'd probably not buy open stock, but most of them I definitely would get.
Though I think they still miss some natural greens and browns, like for example terracotta.
But this is better then nothing and when it comes to Inktense, I take what I get😂
Ah yes that would be a lovely color to have
Hi, I like your review, I just received my 28 new colours of inktense pencils from Cultpens. I would like to know how to get a swatch card for the 28 new colours.
I don’t have a swatch card for just the 28 only because I want them in order together but I’m sure there is one out there
Seems like they needed a pastel or tint set, and some grays.
I mean I enjoy they are so intense because I can use watercolor pencils for light washes. But these additions are great 😊
GAH, I was trying to hold out for either Blick or Jackson's art for open stock, but I caved. I ordered from Cult pens. I justified it with myself because it comes in such a nice little wrap. Perfect for taking your colors on the go if you are working on something. Such a sale out. HA.. TFS!
Yes yes the wrap teehee 🙃
I ordered from Cult Pens but have not received yet.
Hmm sometimes they can take a bit
I am tempted to get the new colors! 💜
They’re quite fun!
Am I missing something? I’ve scanned everywhere and can’t find the link to the chart?? Please help me find it. My new babies came in and id love to have that swatch chart.
There we go! Added it to the description. Thank you for letting me know.
Thank you for comparing the sheet is truly helpful 🥰
No problem at all! I'm glad it helped.
FYI for all, I just phoned Blick to ask if they expect to have these new colors open stock at any point in the foreseeable future, and they said no.
Quite interesting. That's not what they told me lol. I was told they planned to get them later this year. I'm not surprised though. Blick often sends different information out there -- their representatives seem to be off quite a bit. So, who knows.
Blick has the 28 new colors now open stock. @@ColorfullyOptimistic
Thank you for this. I think I’ll just get the Malibu, Flamingo and Lapis.❤
You're welcome -- lovely choices.
If the sticker glue doesn't release go over it with gamasol or a similar product. Remember a little bit of that goes a long ways.
A little heat made them pop off
Thanks for showing
Any time
Thanks for the comparison! How long did it take you to get your order from cult pens?
Hmmm about 2 weeks and I did the standard shipping
Had to go order before even finishing the video🎉
Haha enjoy.
I did mine yesterday! Now I must see if we agree! 😂😂😂
Buahaha!
Are these additional colors outside of the 100 count set??
These are the 28 that create the 72 into the 100 set
💖💛💜💙got all ink tense pencils LOVE LOVE LOVE
Oh yay!
Where did ou get the pencil holder from?
It comes with the 28 pencils
Ooh these are colors I need!
They definitely were needed in the line!
What kind of paper are you printing your chart on?
Neenah 110lbs -- it's always in the description if you scroll down to favorite papers.
Thank You. I didn’t see it.
I heard it problems when you sharpen them Derwent intense pencils
Wish they bluebell colour in Wales we have lot bluebells in the woods no colour like it in category
Nope, I've never had an issue sharpening these at all. They sharpen great -- no breaks, no issues with the wood
Where do you orders these from ?
Hi Debbie, there is actually a link in the description already and I talk about it in the video where I got them. They aren't in the US (as of the time I'm posting this comment) yet.
These are so pretty=3
I agree. I love it
Got mine today😀
Wooohoo did you like them?
Great review don’t think I need all 100 colours
Me neither. There are quite a few you can do without
We agreed on most!!!!
Woohoo! I am so behind watching everyones' videos, but will catch up one day ha
@@ColorfullyOptimistic good luck!!! 🤣🤣 I’m trying to be better commenting!
I’m still at that stage of “what do I need all these grays for?” Yeah, cringe! But those blue greens and the lighter colors I want!!!
Yes! They’re awesome
Cool 😎
Thanks 😊
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Your Welcome
Amen ❤❤
Oh yeah. I think I’ll take your advice and wait for Jackson’s to get them and have a sale….lol
Oh yeah, a sale would be ideal
Blick has the 100 set..😂 349!!$ not today 😅
Right? It’s steep!
Oo❤❤
💛💛💛💛
I’do❤❤
I have full set syndrome so as so these are available in the US I am snatching them up! Thanks for sharing!
LOL
Derwent is pricy but they make great products. This is bad for my wallet because I want all of them.
Yea they do get expensive
No Fair! What is this i see? Is that Kori with the new inktense pencils? Here in the US? Who dares to dazzle us with 28 new inktenss colors? The UK UA-camrs have all been popping up with these and im really trying to be patient! Im sure the new pencils will soon be available here in the US. But for now,( unless youre Kori )unless you order directly from Derwent or Cult pens and dont mind paying the hefty shipping fee from the UK to the Us, youll just have to sit tight and be jealous like me! Unless youre Kori! 😂Lol thanks for sharing with us.
I’m sure they’ll be on Blick this month
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉yessssssssss... so nice gotta watch it twice 😂😂
😂
