I really liked your video. I have to rewatch it as I missed the Herschel Island part. 1 Aklavik means place of the brown bear. My great grandfather sent his assistant at Fort MacPherson to find a new spot for a trading post as the Inuvialuit no longer wanted to travel to FM due to an attack by the Gwich'in. There was a family of grizzly on the beach on the big point so they named it Aklavik.
I am so glad I found your channel. We were lucky enough to travel the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk in late Aug this year. Seeing your journey through the Richardson Mountains and the border region was amazing. This particular area is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. It is hard to describe how spectacular the Arctic region truly is and how you feel standing on the tundra for the first time.💚 Have a wonderful day.
Loved the Journey, thank you for taking us along , incredible country up there , Phillip really knows how to Trek , always reassuring , never panics , and always thinking ahead, obviously a well planned trip , definitely type a guy I’d want to overland with . Well done ..looking forward to your next adventure……Cheers
Hello, greetings from autumnal Finland, north of the Arctic Circle. It has been a pleasure to follow your family trip. Amazing videos. Hopefully, we will see more of them. Here in Finland, winter is approaching. I’m eagerly waiting for my brand-new snowmobile (Lynx Commander TurboR) to be delivered so I can embark on similar, but shorter trips myself. Mine always include some ice fishing. Best of luck with your upcoming adventures!
Cool journey guys. Thanks for sharing with us. Reminded Chris and I(in some ways) of our years in Pang...skidooing in whiteouts, flat lighting, jumble ice.
Hey guys! I just watched your last 2 videos u posted…. What an epic adventure ! Leandra I love that you said , better than any beach holiday! We must have a lot in common! For my 30th wedding anniversary my husband fulfilled my dream of driving the dempster all the way to tuktoyaktuk and getting in the Arctic Ocean!!! It was the most memorable trip I’ve ever been on.. I always said , is wish I could see it in winter. I look at the three webcams on the dempster every few days..my heart was left up there. You guys did such a great job filming. And oh my goodness you cleaned that hunters cabin up so well!!! That was so awesome of you guys! That’s something my husband and I would have done.. I have since lost him to brain cancer back in April of this year, we never got that trip to Atlin , but maybe someday I will be able to travel again .. he was my best friend and travel buddy so it’s a bit tough right now. I took off for the Yukon a few months ago and made it half way to Whitehorse and had to turn around.. I completely lost it without him in the passengers seat. I couldn’t do it… it was too soon. So many memories around every corner… but If I ever make it to Atlin I’ll let you know! Would love to meet you all! Thanks again Leandra, Philippe and Justin you put a smile back on my face.. the joy and amazement and fun you had fulfilling that dream was very evident.❤ and made my heart so happy for you guys!
Thank you for sharing, I am so sorry to hear he passed away. You have both been in our thoughts for the last years. I am happy to hear that you made it to Tuktoyaktuk together, I am sure you made so many beautiful memories together. ❤️ Thank you for the kind words, and the super thanks. If we make it to Alaska before you make it to Atlin, we will make sure to let you know! Sending you love and strength, Leandra
@@TheBrientFamilythank you guys! It means so much to me that you respond to comments, you made my day!!! ..And ..alaskagirl actually lives in Washington! 😂😂😂😂lol so if you ever make it south ..let me know!
Thanks! He did indeed. As we had this long trip planned, and more long trips this upcoming winter, we thought he would be better off with a more fuel efficient (and newer) Tundra. He took over the Tundra as Leandra got the Wide track.
Just watched your series. What a great way to have a vacation. Beauitful country we live in. Just about went to Atlin this past summer. Now im going this summer to get some coffee. If i knew i would of pushed our group harder to go. Hey seen you on Destination Adventure with Dustin. Another great adventure channel. Keep them coming please. Hope all is good
Thanks for the kind words. We are glad you enjoyed it! It was so nice to meet Dustin and getting to know him and Emi a bit better. We haven’t had time for making videos this summer due to building projects and growth of our coffee roastery, but we have some exciting trips planned for this winter that we will share on here 😀 If you end up making it to Atlin, let us know!!
Comment 2 the creek where you hit that water. My son Samuel broke the trail. He said there was no water when he went through. The guys that got stuck in there ahead of you was a RCMP patrol. I think they turned around from there Myself and two Yukon COs went through there while you were at Herschel. It was all frozen. I think a beaver dam busted on the side Creek. Lots of beaver up there. The Creek is called Uvavialuk. Good for berries in there summer time
I contacted the Otter tent company and was told these tents are not waterproof. They said use seam sealer . Probably the best solution is to put a tarp over the top. This will also add air space for extra insulation. Have you had any issues starting the skidoos in the cold over -30? What recommendations do you suggest for starting skidoo in extreme cold weather? Do you carry a battery booster as the Skandic does not have a pull start? I just bought the 2025 Skandic 900 ACE with 24 inch track and will pick it up at Yukon Honda soon. Did you buy the left throttle or did you make it? Enjoy all your adventures and helpful hints. This inspired me to buy the Skandic. Looking forward to your next adventure.
@@rufusirvin5279 hello! This is exactly our plan for the tent. Silicon on the seams and a tarp on the roof. I think our tent has a defect. Most seams are fine but about 25% are off (like they used a needle much too big for the thread and you can see the light through the holes!) The 900 aces we have start very well by -40c. Haven’t had an issue with cold weather starting. I was concerned before we experimented with them and had installed block heaters on them, for those big group snowmobiling trips with generator, but never actually needed them. We do not carry a battery booster with us as we could jump start them with cables and because of weight concern on some of our trips. But I would carry a battery booster, if I was travelling on my own or if weight wasn’t a concern. For the left throttle, I’m using a “gold finger” with a bracket that I fabricated (since they don’t make one for that model). Thanks for watching our videos. Have a nice winter, and maybe we’ll meet on the trails. Cheers
It’s a gold finger throttle with a homemade (by Philippe) custom bracket for the ‘by wire throttle’ on the SWT. Philippe talks about it in his swt review ua-cam.com/video/_jdFSnzDcA4/v-deo.htmlsi=xGik8i62d4mtfQwO
@@TheGreatWhiteNorth1that’s correct. This is a goldfinger, and it is indeed not supposed to fit, according to the people who sell them, but Philippe decided made his own bracket to custom fit it to his swt, and so far it has been working great. 😊
Hello from Bali brrrrrrr 😊Lol
