JOHN DEERE 430 STUCK in MUD! (I pushed it TOO FAR!)

- Today, I managed to turn a beautiful day with family into a desperate struggle to free the John Deere 430 garden tractor from the super sludgy mud in the lowland near the creek. Watch and enjoy our misery as we struggle to free it from the soup. Thanks for watching!
I put a cheap winch on my 455 and it has no problem pulling me out of mud like that. I'd definitely recommend it. I put it in the back of mine.
How many lb winch was it and does it pull your battery down much?
Sounds like a good idea!
Thanks for watching!
@@tractorstrailsandlivingfree It's a 2500lb ATV winch. The alternator on the tractor keeps the voltage up even while the winch is running. (which is not for long periods at a time.) I installed a voltage meter in my dash so I could monitor it.
@@LukesJohnDeereGarage ok, now my mental gears are turning. Gonna have to work on something like that.
@@tractorstrailsandlivingfree I think it's worth it. My tractor is weighted and has a FEL, but the winch still pulls it out fine.
Hey man, I got my 400 stuck with the 4 way blade on one time, and I hooked the chain to the blade, and then to a tree and actuated the blade to pull the chain for me in a sense. It worked awesome. I don’t know how much chain you have, but it got me out. 🤷🏼♂️👍 fun video.
Thanks for checking it out!
I'm guessing you were moving a few inches at a time and then repositioning the chain each time? That's pretty impressive!
If this tractor was 4wd that would have changed everything.
Glad you enjoyed it. This was my first real walk of shame on this channel.
@@tractorstrailsandlivingfree yeah just about a foot, foot and a half at a time, but I wasn’t in nearly as slick as a spot as you either. Tractor stucks are only fun on small tractors. I commented before I finished watching the rest of the video. 🤦🏼♂️ I can admit that. 🤣 but yeah, the 4 way plow is actually a decent little tool to have for sure. I was surprised the hydraulics had enough power.
Those 430’s are so front heavy they need a lot of weight on the rear. Wheel weights or fluid in the tires is good. But I enjoyed the video, I am glad I am not the only one that gets stuck
Thanks for watching. I am blessed to have my son in law, otherwise that tractor might still be down there.
I thought of taking the blade off for that very reason but I figured I be carrying it up the hill. No thanks.
That was entertaining !
It wasn't what we had in mind when the day started but this is what it became. Another happy accident
If I may suggest for the next time, grab some 2x4’s and throw a few tacks in for traction, it’ll drive itself right out of the ruts with them.
I did grab some flat rocks from the creek and put them under the rear wheels but they just were not enough to make a difference.
Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
I've never stuck my 430, I don't think it's ever been in mud. I have stuck my 1200 lb. zero turn many times trying to mow those extra few inches by the pond. My truck can get everywhere on my property and I probably have a hundred feet of tow strap and chain. Now when I was younger before cell phones and had four wheel drive trucks, that is a different story. lol On another note I have decided to pull the trigger and build a FEL here in about a month!
I can get my truck way back in the woods on that main trail which i made pretty wide but i probably wouldnt be able to get down to that low area and get back out for sure. So if I had much more chain/strap, I could've pulled it with the 4wd truck, but I had nowhere near enough.
Seems like building a loader for the 430 is about the only option anymore. Good luck to you on that. Will be interesting to see your final results.
Never admit defeat… glad that you got it out!!
Defeat was never an option.
Thanks!
Big branches length wise under the rear tires! Also you can try using the plow blade and wiggle the angle back & forth to break free of the mud.
That's what another guy suggested, using the plow blade. I also have this "tow truck in a box" thing we picked up at a garage sale which might have been good to try. Thanks for watching and commenting.
A 3ft cutoff 4x4 post and chain you'd been out in under 5 minutes
Yeah, I bet you're right!
I would never admit to this
Gotta keep the bad stuff in there too! I knew it was too muddy, I just got cocky I guess.
So the grease like mud on the trail heading to the bog wasn’t enough indication that you were about to be screwed ? 😂🤣
Nah, I believed in those ag tires too much. Learned my lesson.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Why did you lock the breaks? It's literally stuck, it's not gonna roll away.
Good point! Just a habit I guess. Which is odd because I had the brakes off AND the tractor in gear while we were both off the tractor pushing.
You need to get some wheel weights on not tractor what you need
That seems to be the majority opinion here.
Thanks for watching!
Hehe. Quite a day. I’m wondering why you didn’t put the power winch at the back of the jd 430 and use the battery power from it.
Yeah, that might have had a different outcome but maybe not. Not sure exactly how the winch blew the fuse in the Husqvarna but that might have happened with the 430 as well. We still haven't set up the 430 for the rear receiver mounted winch yet.
@@tractorstrailsandlivingfree well my thought was, the 430 would have a higher amp charging system than the other tractor. Any way, you got it out.
@@noelstractors-firewood57 that's true, might be enough to have worked.
No diff. , 4 wheel drive ? I only saw 1 rear wheel spin the whole time.
Wow what is the plot for genius
Try getting some actual agricultural tires for the 430 .
The rears are pretty much ag tires, but the fronts are like skidsteer industrial type tread.
Put tire chains on both of them and go a lot better
Thanks! Even in wet mud you think?
Put a log underneath the tires
That's exactly how we started. Except our "log" was about a 2" diameter.
Thanks!
Thank you for the ❤ you gave me I appreciate it very much

Why drive a heavy tractor mower with a plow across a stream I'm not being negative but lot of people would love tractor your an
I thought it could make it through to get across to do some trail work on the other side. It's a good thing I got stuck before I got into the drink.
Why dont you just go get another tractor and a chain and pull it out .instead of beating the shit out of the 430 .
.
I can assure you no beatings occurred. The only tractor I had at that time was the Husqvarna which wouldn't have been much better than the stuck 430.
