I'm looking at a deal on one of those 430's with a 4 way hydraulic plow and a deck. After watching some of your videos, I'm liking the idea of having one. Love the rear tires you have on it. 👍

@@skywatcherranchswr go for it! It's worth it for the winter plowing (if you live in a cold climate)

My 430 isnt as fast as my zero turn but it sure produces a nice cut lawn. The old garden tractors are a blast on little farms. Nice woods I think everyone needs a back yard like that. Good for the soul.

I agree! I spend a decent amount of time on nicer days just walking through the woods and daydreaming about what I'd like to do in certain areas.

Oh yes the 430 has tons of power! I’m glad she starts easier now w/new battery. I love to see how impressed you’d be w/filled tires and suitcase weights on the back. The only downside I see is if you decide to get her stuck in the mud again extraction will be 4X harder ( on your SIL) ha ha.

      Hey! Lous back!
Yeah, it's an awesome tractor. I can always extract it with the Massey if I get a little too bold. If it had 4wd, it would be the best!

Okay I agree, here’s a work around. Sell the Massey and buy. 7554wd w/70 loader! Ha ha
Good luck finding one w/a backhoe though.

@@loutoolguy2644 seems like the 855 is the top of that line. I think it was a TTWT video where they mentioned that that was the tractor in that series that had a foot-controlled hydro. So if I was looking for one in that line, I think it would be the 855.

I’m genuinely curious why you try to justify the JD430? The MF is 8 times the machine and will do everything the JD 430 does and a whole lot more. Ive been thinking about spending $6k on a 430 that’s for sale in my area and researching a lot and luckily I’ve seen enough forums and videos that warned me that I didn’t waste my money. I’ve been on a lot of JD forums and watched a lot of 430 videos and it seems everyone on the forums and the YTs all complain or show the same thing…. The design of the 430s provide ZERO traction for use in snow and a lot of owners say it’s just an extra big lawn mower and has no value beyond mowing the grass your little orange rider probably cuts better. I’m told by the jd crowd that other 300 and 400 series are where it’s at and some of the. Own 430s too…. I’m genuinely interested in your opinion and thank you for the videos you put up.

That is a very fair question. Thank you.
So I'm sure you've seen on this channel many videos where I have used the Massey because only it can do some of the tasks I need it for.
There are a couple things that I do like using the 430 for.
      1. Snow plowing and some dirt work. The angled plow just works better in my opinion than my loader bucket. In addition to that, I'm closer to the work in the 430 which allows me to finesse it where I can't even see level on my Massey bucket.
      2. The 3 point hitch is just more accessible and ready to go whereas I'd have to uninstall and reinstall the backhoe to use the Massey"s. This because I only have room to store it with the backhoe installed.
But you're right, the Massey is much more powerful all things considered. Good points!

I also wanted to add something based on your post. I wouldn't pay 6k for a 430 with the following exceptions.
If it had a few attachments and/or a factory cab already not including the mower deck.
If it was something uniquely rare such as mint condition with super low hours.
As you could see in my timelapse video with all the add-ons I did with mine, I believe my total cost was under 6k.

@@tractorstrailsandlivingfree I paid $4000 for a minty 455 with the 3 pt hitch and 60in 7iron mow deck. There are good deals out there. The 430 in nice, but the foot pedals are much easier to use.

@@D.Trider I've always though the 455 was/is a great machine. The foot controlled transmission is ideal for sure but I will say that with practice the 430 hand controlled is a special kind of fun.
I would trade a 430 for a 455 given the chance because of the foot pedals and the more standard 540 pto speed.
