I follow Leland Sklar's channel. He was on tour with Lyle before this event. Lee posts videos every day and in one of them I got to hear Lyle practice for his performance with Peter Asher. Singing along with this. I haven't heard this song in years but I remember the words. Why don't i remember all the poems they wanted me to memorize?
Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge breech (?) new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers doth take their life. Whose misadvetur'd piteous overthrows, do with their death bury their parents' strife. The which if you with patient ears attend, what here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend
Peter has a great muscical legacy and he inspired everything about the way Austin Powers looks. Dont know if those movies would have ever existed without him
"Nobody I Know" wasn't the B side--it was the follow-up record. The B side of World Without Love was "If I Were You."" Of course a later rerelease might have combined P & G's first two hits on a single disc, but that's not how they were originally released.
A lot more than luck involved with Peter Asher. He has incredible musical and pure business sense. He’s also widely and near-unanimously described as one of the nicest, most ethical people in that world. His career has covered it all, from performing to production and management, with stars everybody knows. AND he’s written a great book about it all. Sure, you gotta have luck. But Peter did the work, too.
Wonderful thing is Lyle Continued this with his large band and gets Jim Cox to be his Gordon!!!! They DO a great job of honoring Peter & Gordon ............& McCartney!!!
I'm too old to remember this song. But I do recall being told - over and over and over again - that some pop group from Liverpool was just a fad... and will disappear in a few weeks... apparently like COVID-19.
The best thing about this clip was Peter's reminiscing and the sound of the Vox Continental organ. The song performance was not bad. They should have lowered the key.
This song is a beautiful Paul McCartney composition. What a talent. FYI.....this song was refused to be recorded by The Beatles and several other musicians. When Peter and Gorden recorded it, it became #1 in both the US and GB. Go figure.
It's amazing when you think about how certain things come about. 1 thing happens that changes the course of Human lives. Jane ended up her relationship with Paul, but Peter still to this day is so grateful that those things happened. And Jane was responsible for 1 of Paul's songs, "I see through You. " maybe another but can't remember.
Lyle Lovett has Lewy Body Dementia. Commend him for being able to continue as well as he did. Commend Peter Asher for being a compassionate caring man.
...... And "still" has despite his so called Demise (death).......as all can see, there is no death, as John said, only a change in vehicles, and he was "right on" 👍💙
Bad karaoke Silly song but we all liked it Talk about being in the right place at the right time Obviosly talented in the industry but got a big slice of good luck
Oh Adam, you ARE a moron if you believe that. Lyle Lovett is one of the world’s best singer/song writers and more than that, he is one of the nicest people someone like you could ever hope to meet.
Peter Asher is a treasure. Such a wonderful person, with a great perspective on the greatest music era of all time.
Peter Asher.... What a lucky guy. He was in the right place at the right time more than once... James Taylor's first manager as well.
...and Linda Ronstadt's!
Right place at the right time would also describe John, Paul, George and Ringo's paths crossing.
And anybody who makes it big in the music business. Reality
I met Peter Asher at a festival in England about six years ago. What a lovely guy !

One of the coolest things in a long time. Thank you!
I was fortunate enough to have seen him and Gordon at the worlds fair in Flushing NY in 1963. I was 13 YO
They sound like a neighborhood karaoke!😮😮
You mean 1964 or 1965.
@@mikeymutual5489 whenever it was. It was long ago 😃
@@judymcdougall June 1964. The concert was held in front of the Unisphere. Google it - there are articles about it!

That was a great time to be alive and like music!
Peter was Linda Rondstat's producer for many years. What a talent!
Ronstadt.
Also managed James Taylor of course.
He was Linda's manager also
Loved the drummer - really got that big 60's pop beat down.
unforgettable song of my past
What a wonderful song. In my car I sing it loud playing CD with Peter & Gordon and the version of Del Shannon, too.
Beautiful version of A World With Out Love by Peter and Lyle.❤😊
Fantastic job! Perhaps the two of them should continue Performing together.
Love to know what John's reaction was when Peter and Gordon's version became a huge hit. Put them on the map, at least in America.
I love this song. Also the B side, Nobody I Know

A great song and great story. Great memories.
Amazing story behind the song....
Peter & Gordon.😊
Not to be confused with Chad & Jeremy.😊
Both great groups!❤❤
Maybe with Jan & Dean, eh? ha ha Garmon and Sifunkel?
Isn't it strange how two sets of British duos look so much alike with two different sounds. 😊😊
Chad and Gordon were playing together on the sly too.
Awsome great job Peter and Lyle and band
Brilliant 🎉
Fine job! Thank you!
A lovely song, and I went out and bought it on its release!
❤ Hello from FRANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothings better than the original.
I still adore Peter Asher.
Underrated player in the music explosion of the sixties and seventies.

Wicked cool!
I remember when it was #1, Oi!! LOL --gary
he is also a well known manager and producer for linda ronstadt.,james taylor and others.
Great producer!
I saw Peter in a film on TV recently, he was an 8 year old in it..
Is the lyric … when she does I’ll KNOW ??? Been bugging me for decades. Love this song.
Really enjoyed Lyle Lovett on Blue Bloods.
Can't wait to see Lyle Lovett on the Cayamo music cruise.
Cool.
Is that Steve Jordan and Will Lee on drums and bass? No Paul Shaffer?
❤❤❤
I wonder if the fact that Paul McCartney was going out with Asher's sister impacted on the career of this fabulous guitarist !
Do. You have. Rest of show please post thanks
Really nice drumming.
Is it Steve Jordan?
Peter didnt mention that Paul was dating his sister Jane Asher.
Love the Mavericks version .
Whatever Big John said about this number, he was, as usual, absolutely correct.....
Music from my pre-teen and teen years. John 3:16

Does that include the tank leak on Pike's Peak, Mr. Spy?
Any body know how tall Peter Asher is..........
Peter needs to thank his sister Jane for dating Paul McCarthy!
Rubbish.

Peter Asher is the brother of Jane, who was the fiance of the late James Paul McCartney (died Sep. 11, 1966).
Paul was going with Peter's sister Jane for years.
What that guy said!👇
What happened to Peter Asher's British accent?
I gotta ask: Does Steve Jordan just get ALL the cool gigs now?! 😆
I remember when he pooped his pants on stage back in the 70s good times

Lyle Lovett…one of the biggest musical losers that ever existed. 😂 Just astounding, how anyone could think differently.
