      @@keithroberts4952 True, I guess I should’ve said that McCartney shouldn’t have disbanded Wings, but Back to the Egg was underwhelming and George Martin told him that he should add his name to the band.

    • @keithroberts4952
      @keithroberts4952 Рік тому +6

      @@DJ-bj8ku I hear you. He probably had reached a point where he couldn't go any further with Wings. He appeared to be uninterested in his performances around 1979. That would have been the fourth installment of Wings, plus Back to the egg wasn't getting a great response, then the Japan bust and lastly, John's death. All in the space of a year. However, Wings went out on a high with the live version of Coming up hitting number one in the U.S. A great way to end, I guess.

    • @tod3msn
      @tod3msn Рік тому +11

      Denny Laine was not with Wings because he was a nice guy. He had a lot to do with McCartney's solo career and its wild success. He was a great arranger and knew production and was a good musician. He did not need the limelight and was cool with laying back. Paul McCartney could have had a better musical partner for his solo career. Paul never found another Denny and even Eric Stewart of 10cc didn't last beyond a few records with PM. Denny was a real boost for Paul's solo career and a needle in a haystack musical sidekick.

    Put a Wilson sister’s vocal on it and it works…. They get it, they understand the phrasing, the vibe. They were born to play this music.
    Take Ann for example. There isn’t another person on this planet that does a Zeppelin vocal cover better, and I don’t really want to hear anyone else. Her and Nancy get it. They understand the pacing, the how much, when, and when not to.
    And Denny Laine. Part of my all time best McCartney line up, ever.
    My brother had a chance to work and speak with him a few years ago at a show in Illinois. He was a true gentleman, and they talked about a lot the music he’s been part of over the years, the current state, and his philosophy for the future for well over an hour. The man is a well of talent, knowledge, and information.
