Ukraine can already go "nuclear" in other ways, at least 3 and probably more. 2 are already availabe. I wrote some stuff about such.
First, lets clarify some context and considerations
The general idea of nuclear deterrence is the option to do horrible things to your foes, but with the goal to never ever let that happen. This also includes the other ‘nuclear’ options Ukraine can execute - those will probably have big ecological and humanitary consequences for the region and beyond.
In this context, such options would only be used in very desperate scenario’s, with Ukraine facing full genocide and extermination by Russians, with allies also backing down or want to enforce a very bad deal upon the Ukrainian people. When Ukraine gets cornered, such options will be considered.
Regarding ‘classic’ nukes, it might take some months to two years to get some. Ukraine is a lot bigger in resources then Israel, Iran and North-Korea - all states with nuclear potential. Some people think it can happen even faster, in weeks. Lets hope we will never find out.
Ukraine can already target Russia’s oil export terminals in the Black Sea, worth of transferring millions of barrels a day. This will hurt the world economy and can also could cause a huge ecological distaster in the waters, for all neighbours around the Black Sea.
Someone had a different plan to paralyse Russia’s energy infrastructure. It does require a persistent campaign, but has potential. As Goran stated: HV (380 or 440 kV power grid) pylons are even EASIER targets, than oil tank farms & their distillation/ separation columns: unlike columns, there is plethora of those, free standing in the wide open spaces; and hitting just a SINGLE one will grind that whole circuit to a halt, for few weeks, minimum (and with it, entire production lines, civilian & military purposes alike)…
So...dont cherish any illusions : no one can stop Ukraine from resorting to nuclear options. If we want them to honour the interests of allies and the world, we also should do the same to their struggle for survival. So lets reflect on ourselves first, before we pretend to be on a higher moral ground.

@@Forrestlynx We assume the Russians are paying for it. There's a good chance that they're paying without goods or money. Ukraine would have also had to pay for the aid they got with beneficial trade deals. Russia could have done the same for NK. Though what is most likely is tech, food, and oil. Russia made a push on Kiev, if they had succeeded do we think they would've settled merely for the eastern oblasts? Any peace deal based on current positions is appeasement and Russia will be demanding historic claims in five years.

You make it sound like the Ukrainians want peace and we are forcing them to continue fighting. But the Ukrainians realise there is no future for them if Russia steals their land, and it is EXACTLY like AHeresheyHare says, and clear now to every dictator around the world that borders are not real, anyone, any people with the money, guns and willingness to suffer and die on mass can move any border at any time. The video is informative but the Russian casualties should be taken with a pinch of salt because Russia is not fighting those Bakhmut, Avdiivka style gruelling urban battles anymore They are not attacking big towns and cities head on instead they are flanking them from sides to force Ukrainians to abandon their positions and retreat like they did in Selydove. After previously attacking with tanks head on towards Vuhledar and taking huge casualties Russians this time flanked Vuhledar which forced 72nd Brigade to retreat to avoid being encircled. Russian have changed their tactics by not attacking in huge armoured columns but instead are attacking in small groups of 10 man on bikes or on foot which has dramatically reduced Russian casualties. Independent neutral sources have indicated Russian casualties to be as high as 250,000 not more then that. Its best to hear from Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines rather then thier generals who are mostly playing politics and PR attacks rather then proper war planning. Ukrainian soldiers have admitted that russians are now attacking them in small teams which has made it harder for them to target Russians. Russia now barely uses its armoured cars and only uses them to transport soldiers rather then to attack and has mostly stopped its tanks attacks also

While you make very good points for how the "fog of war" works, I really don't buy that Russian casualties have "dramatically reduced" at the exact same time they are estimated to be the highest per day basically ever. Two new fronts have opened up since the spring, Ukraine remains on an advantageous defensive in both, and Russia is going HARD on an offensive in Donbas right now. The casualties are probably not being lied about, they are just high for slightly different reasons than before.

Once you have created training program for NK troops maybe couple more dozens will come next year by which program will fasten for sure. Maybe even in NK next batch of units already are learning Russian language. Btw these are profesdional soldiers almost, not merceneries or recruiters... So most focus is on learning language and then modern warfare update... Ukraine is finished by the end of next year. I don't want to stop supporting Ukraine, but with the sheer level of fatigue with the war - both from those who are on the ground fighting it and those who are supplying it - I don't see this conflict ending in a Ukrainian victory no matter how much we may want it to. It would take Russia running out of soldiers to do that.
Ukraine simply doesn't have the manpower to fight both Russia and North Korea in the long-term (as we can see here with the pressure and trepidation to lower the mobilization age), they can't outpace the increasing support of Iran, China, and India (not to mention Russia's own internal production capabilities), and with the U.S. electorate voting in both a new President and Congress partly on the basis that they can't afford groceries, I don't think most are interested in funneling more American money over there for what seems to be a cause that can't be won. You can also blame our support of Israel and growing internal strife over their displacement of Palestinians that has harmed a lot of the American populace's interest in being involved in any external war right now.
The only real solution is a negotiated peace where Ukraine is able to join NATO and obtain the direct protection of the alliance to prevent any further Russian aggression. We've already seen a desire to do that with both Finland and Sweden joining NATO as well to protect their borders.

@@sircatangry5864 Oh, no argument there, I agree.
As I see it, the problem is not equipment per se but rather manpower. Kursk was a stunning offensive that definitely buoyed morale for Ukraine, but they are already losing their gains there due to the inability to reinforce and fortify that land with fresh troops.
Plus, the offensive in Kursk probably made it possible for Russia to begin advancing along the front elsewhere since the Ukrainian troops used there couldn't be allotted to hold the preexisting frontline.

    • @sircatangry5864

@kempana9414 Same can be said about Russia. Have they reached any strategic success? Have they taken Pokrovsk? Did they cut off the Slovyansk-Konstantinovka agglomeration?
Small wins signal the possibility of strategic success. If we go by book, the only strategic victory in the entire war was Ukrainian Kupyansk offensive.
Kursk took attention of about 50 thousand russian troops. It is a size of force that is storming Chasiv Yar for example. Imagine what would've happened if those 50 thousand helped in the Pokrovsk direction for example.
Plus the fact Russian territory is occupied complicates every negotiation where freezing the frontlines is the main idea.
