As a fellow Sayaka x Kyouko enjoyer, i appreciated your reaction to their interactions (and cohabitation) The duel between Mami and Homura is easily in my top 5 fight scenes of all time. The whole sequence is just beautifully animated, and the time-stopped bullets make for a truly spectacular setpiece. Then there's the music and sound design which borh add a ton to the scene. That guitar riff that plays when the two of them fall as they continue trading shots at point blank range is just excellent. One bit about the end of the fight, that seems to confuse a lot of viewers is Homura shooting herself in the head. The thing about that is that magical girls' consciousnesses are contained in their soul gem, meaning that damage to the brain doesn't really matter much to them. Homura knows this, and she knows that Mami does _not_ know this. She exploits that by getting Mami to try and pull her using the ribbon (requiring it to be tangible and thus vulnerable).
That whole group transformation sequence is both beautiful and creepy. The music and animation is gorgeous, but at the same time, there's something really twisted and unsettling throughout each one.
just a heads up in case you haven’t recorded it yet bc i’ve seen people struggle with copyright issues with this movie before. the second half of this movie has more copyrighted music (with singing) during one of the most IMPORTANT (and adorable) dialogue scenes happening simultaneously. so for your own enjoyment, please don’t watch it muted. you could edit music on top of it or cut it out of the video entirely and talk about it afterwards! but if you’ve already seen it then you probably know what I’m talking about 😅
Their deaths were rewritten because of Madoka being able to take magical girls away before they were corrupted and become witches. Since there are no witches to kill Mami and Kyoko they are still alive and exist in the current timeline.
