Sure Custom Shop LPs are pricey, but they're inspirational af to play, which in my book makes them desirable. And consider, your stocks, bonds & real estate may crash, and for sure, your dollars *will* devalue, but your Lester will have value in multiple ways for as long as you care for it.
Bought one of these in tea sunrise, best Gibson ever, I also bought a 2020 R9. But you failed to mention the analin dye will bleed onto the binding turning it pink.
The correct term is typeface. Font refers to size. The Bolivian fingerboard wood is not rosewood; i.e., not of the genus Dalbergia. Thank you, Mat ― and everyone at the Gibson® Custom Shop for listening. Cheers!
As I am not as good as I wish to be in listning people speaking english, I am not sure to understand what they say about True Historic at the end of the video. I understood that they had to invest for researches to create the components but now, as they got them for larger production, prices are lower for the same quality product. Someone can confirm please? 🙏
I would have liked to see all 10 different finishes on these guitars, but no go. I even checked out Gibson's website and still nothing... It's nice to see that these have been reduced in price, but if I can't see the different ones, how can I make a decision?
I don't understand the story about paper in oil capacitor. Back to 2015 during True Historic period, they told "we are using bumlble bees which are perfectly accurate to the 50s" and now the accuracy is reached by using paper in oil..... ?? Which one were really used in the 50s?
is it because its a reissue that the top isn't really that good? I mean its pretty, but its not a very high grade A flame top. Is that because its a reissue?
The guitar for those who have ton's of money and are super picky about every little detail like the clarity of the silk screening on the headstock. Nothing wrong with that, but that ain't me. Nice axe though. It better be!! It will surely get sent back if there is the tiniest imperfection anywhere on the instrument.
From what I understand, they got some of the true historic features and implemented them on the standard historic line, like the plastics, the glue and the gold logo. Some of the constructional features of the true historics like the hand wet sanding, the double carving and the body-neck grain match, could be discontinued, Gibson has no info on that. The 50s guitars had paper in oil capacitors that were called bumblebees because of their look. Gibson custom shop used either ceramic or film capacitors (not sure) encased in a bumblebee styled shell. They were cosmetically identical to the original bumblebees but constructionally different. However there is a company that makes paper in oil capacitors with the bumblebee look, they are called "Luxe" if I recall correctly.
Patato Keftes thanks for your reply! Do you think that hand wet sanding, double carving impact the tone of the guitare and could maybe justify the creasy price that was asked for true historic line or all of this was just nothing but marketing? What you just learned me about capacitors is surprising me as I remember Gibson argument about bumblebees which were supposed to be accurate..... another exemple of how tricky a company could be to sell more......
@@wallywanker7435 You don't own a real one. And I've played many many original bursts. The knop placement is all about the carve. I'm not wasting my time with a bullshit artist like you.

Well I'm really stoked about the new gibson custom shop guitars I'm really hopeful that they are successful in the coming years
Mat is the real deal & has a ton of knowledge about vintage guitars…even before he was at the Custom shop. Kudos Gibson !

I believe 59 Les Pauls were not all fancy AAA maple tops. More so than 58s,

I've never heard people speak positively on unpotted pickups. 😕
"99,9% accurate this time". Wasn't True Historic ? Oh non it was 99,8% sorry lol!
