This is a professional review, with insight that is lacking from most youtube reviewers.
Appreciated!
Ordered a 2022 limited wave-runner back in August 2021 and this video helped explain even more than my sales guy did. I already knew it was the right choice, as I have owed many Yamaha products before. Great job getting me syked up for my highly anticipated watercraft!
That time is just around the corner.
Glad we could help!
Happy to see the industry finally catching up w/ features and options "from the factory"! Call me a dinosaur but the new "freestyle jetblaster" is still 3inches longer than a 2000 Seadoo GTX 3-seater haha... Now, that new Superjet sounds cool! I've been saving for years and the VXR is close in my reach :-D
Is it really that long? Man have PWC gotten big!
The '00 GTX is 0.7" longer than the Jetblaster. Idk where you got your numbers man lol
Kevin the sad part is when we will see them at the dealership. Thank for keeping the watercraft community up to speed with all the powerful info.🤙
They're hoping to be "on time" which means around November/December.
@@watercraftjournal 😅 hopefully, I am guessing 2022 will be the year wend we finally get to see the big 3 go head.thats if " team green bring the secret sauce" we all are looking forward for 2022..thanks brother
Wouldn't that be awesome?!
@@watercraftjournal yes indeed.
WOWZERS! Was not expecting those changes.
Right?!
Awesome review! What a change for 2022! Love the colors and stoked for the 7" gps screen
Awesome
Yeah big stuff
Thanks Kevin for the video really shows all the highlights that Yamaha has done !!
More to come!
hey guys I just rode my first jetski last weekend and I believe it was a 2022 Yamaha I'm not sure but regardless it was an amazing time and made me want to buy one... I'm looking at different videos to see which ones were better and I honestly want anyones/everyones opinion on which jetski you would recommend. my budget is round 10k max so any recommendations and why would be appreciated thank you.
Pfft. That's an impossible question to answer. That's like asking, "Why guys! Tell me what kind of shoes to buy."
We snagged a new 2021 EX Sport on Tuesday from our local dealer here in Central Washington. First time for us buying a brand new power sport toy. I usually pick up projects to fix up and play with.
Very cool!
.great video my 2017 vx curuiser ho is still going strong we do long ocean rides here in western Canada off british Columbia coast line,
Great to hear!
The FX Garmin “large screen” option F3X-H21G0-T0-00 comes with 63cv fishfinder/chartplotter. The preloaded maps are for inland lakes only. For coastal anglers you are out of luck unless you purchase the coastal maps. It would be nice if Yamaha offered this kit with the 64cv as it the same unit however it comes preloaded with the coastal charts.
Thanks for the info!
@@watercraftjournal And thank you for the new line up review!!
Just get a boat to fish on dude
I just put my order in , I will be driving to the dealer on Friday . Gonna order two
Awesome!
@@watercraftjournal I got a response from Nash powersports in Phoenix , the financing Guy told me they got 65% cut from Yamaha for 2022 ....bummer but I am the only one who put my name on the list for the 2022 Yamaha fx svho cruiser so I put a deposit on two , he swears they do not and will not sell it from under me , he said have a 1 week policy they call you come in and pay or finance or they look for buyers . Fingers crossed , I know deposits are a joke I told him at any time I can put 5-10k down easy . I also pick up my triton tandem torsion dual jet ski trailer in October in Sacramento so here's to hoping it all comes together.
Soo thankful they addressed the tiny screen & added auto trim!! 😍. Also glad they put hard navigating buttons in reach from the seated position. I can’t even reach my tiny screen on my ‘19 FX.
I LOVE the new glove box! 😍
Not a fan colors Yamaha went with this year.
1. Is the new ride plate the same as the RIVA ride plate? If not, which would be better to install on a ‘19-21, the Riva or the ‘22 ride plate?
2. Will the ‘22 grips work on the ‘19-‘21 FX’s? Are they worth upgrading?
The ride plate is not the same as RIVA’s but shares some traits. The new Connext screen isn’t all that new since it’s used on their boats, so there’s little threat of failure.
thanks for not starting the video with an obnoxious commercial
Yamaha didn’t pay for a mandatory ad. Sorry, but since you’re getting this for free we need to pay the bills elsewhere.
They really listened to their customers on the refreshed 22 models. Big upgrade imo.
Looks to be that way.
This is the year!
Sure seems like it!
Welp... I suppose the good news is that the value of my 2015 nano XL2 hull just went up. A 5% weight difference can be the difference between 1st place and 3rd or even further back!
Possibly.
Good riddance to Nano
Probably the opposite. There were problems with the nano.
The value of old junk doesn't go up...🤣
@@MrTheguywiththemoney Classic car enthusiasts might disagree buddy
Thanks 🙏🏻 Kevin, been waiting for this one. Can’t wait for you to test the Fx SVHO. I love the new color scheme. Old school colors. Nice changes to the Fx line. And the new deck and fishing accessories are wicked. Everything the girlfriend and I are looking for. Calling the dealership this week. And see what it’s like getting a pair up here on the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦 for 2022.
The review of the ‘22 FX SVHO Limited is coming soon.
Excellent presentation Kev. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
OMG finally changed the bottom hual. Just in time. Im on the fence on switching to kawasaki for the Mark Hann
Wait just a little longer
Kevin i remember predicting the ride plate would improve on the FX line 👀 Yamaha's made some great improvements on the comfort and everyday usefullness of the FX. Not upset that I sold my 19 a few months ago 😅
We all knew it needed a ride plate.
The hulls that had NanoXcel in 2021 that haven't changed and still have NanoXcel or NanoXcel 2 for 2022 are:

The hulls the have SMC are:

FX Cruiser HO
FX SVHO
FX Cruiser SVHO
FX Limited SVHO
Yes, that's a perfect summary.
I'm a seadoo guy but I'm blown away with Yamahas line up here #gamechanger
Nice!
how so? it's a direct copy of what sea-doo has on the market regarding the linq and fish pro. the blaster package is disappointing, was hoping for an actual updated waveblaster, not an EX in Blaster clothing. it's a step in the hopeful direction of the past, though
Those rear deck accesories cost more than I paid for my whole old waverunner, trailer, registration, parts and safety equipment combined.
Yeah, it ain't cheap these days.
My eyes are on the FX SVHO🤟
As they should be!
Excellent footage
Thank you
Great content Kevin. Appreciate all the great information. Looks like Yamaha will have a great 2022 with all the new changes. Can’t wait to see them in person.
Billy D
Thank you Billy!
Good to see some of these manufactures going back to some of their roots of what a PWC really is, a small nimble craft . Good to see a version of the Blaster come back. Thought not as small as its hugely popular predecessor, it’s a step in the right direction (in my opinion) to help bring the masses back. PWCs today are just way to big and I rather buy a boat and fit the family on it than buy a 3 seater. I know sales numbers say otherwise.
Quick question, was there any update to the 2022 Superjet? (Color, hull, minor tweaks?) Thanks Kevin!
It’s a step in the right direction.
Great review one more time. Thanks Kevin!
Glad you enjoyed it
the new freestyle 110hp ski must be yamaha's answer to the spark
No doubt. A way better ski though. I have a 2020. I have the Spark as well. Not to sure about that color though. Very retro. Yamaha needs to step it up with nicer colors like Sea-Doo. Just my opinion. Great skis all around..
Exactly
@@seadoo4life127 Said it perfectly
It costs $4000 more then a Seadoo Spark Trixx ( canadian $) still. Its the same price as a 2022 Seadoo GTI SE 170 lol. I don't see it being competition at that price.
@@MikeZ32TT price vs value genius 🤯🥴
Kevin, I’m looking for a ski for my family. I’m 6’3 need a three seater and looking at the GTX300, FX SVHO, or Ultra 310. It will be a 22 model year. Can you give me the pros and cons and recommend one? We’re mainly using it for two riders but sometimes three and will be pulling a tube from time to time. We will be riding on a lake here in Ohio so heavy chop doesn’t really factor into our decision. Thanks for any help!
That’s really too tough to answer in the comment section of a UA-cam video.
I was one of 80 or so at my dealer whose 2021 Yamaha VX model was canceled mid summer after ordering in early March. Very frustrating. Dealer said Yamaha was going to offer those of us whose orders were canceled $500 off the 2022 models, which were made available earlier this week. Yamaha then bumps the price up $400 and I'm told they may bump freight charge as well. Not too happy about this but they seem to have a really good product that is in high demand so have to suck it up. Dealer said they could start shipping next month. Yeah...ok.
Ouch! We did not know that!
Finally!! I've stuck with Kawasaki due to the true fiberglass hull. Even though they are still a favorite of mine the lack of innovation was pushing me towards Yamaha but I've seen so many issues with that nano hull. I just may have to go put a deposit in on a new one now!
Let us know which one you get!
Great video! I am thinking to sell my 2014 FX SVHO Cruiser and consider a 22' Yam FX SVHO or a Kawi 310R. Time will tell. It would have been nice if Yamaha added a deadrise of 22 degrees to handle rough water better on big wave lakes!
Hulls typically last 8-9 years, with Kawasaki being the big exception. The current FX hull is only 2 years old.
Im thinking of getting a freestyle jet ski should i get the new waveblaster or a super jet or a sea doo spark please i need help im new to this
We will always recommend that someone learn to ride a standup. It makes you a better rider of everything.
That jet blaster is dope!! Wish i didnt buy a spark this year
Nice!
Great video kevin love the new fish model
Cool!
Great review and the new upgrades to the FX line are impressive. My only knock is the FX SVHO color. What were they thinking with the powder blue? Love the limited colors but don’t like the seat and some of the other options would never be used. Love, love, love that they went to a fiberglass deck. Also, I never thought the audio system is worth the money but with the phone and mic integration, I would add it without hesitation.
Fiberglass HULL. Nano2 deck.
@@watercraftjournal my bad. Meant to say hull. Respect how you keep it real and call things how you see them even though some of these companies advertise with you. refreshing to see. Keep up the good work.
Wow I’m amazed at the new line up. Sure many sea doo features but their spin is cool. I love the rear seat idea. I’m ok with 50lbs more for more comfortable ride. I’m so glad I held off on the fx svho for this.
Fingers crossed!
More comfortable ride is only the start.... hull and paint not cracking is gonna be great
@@conpoulos7233 defiantly an advantage. The svho going up 50lbs is a easy compromise for me. Not like I’ll feel the difference since I’m not a pro racer.
Dope! Definitely gonna look into trading my 21 VX Deluxe for a FX SVHO or GP1800. Love the colors for the 22 models too!
Very cool.
I had a dealer tell me Yamaha seems to be pulling back the most on the FX line, with all their supply issues right now. It was my first choice
Dang. Sorry to hear that.
Great video Kevin
Thanks!
@@watercraftjournal love the new blaster
Why not make a fixed steer Superjet to bring back the Waveblaster?
We inquired the same thing about a future Kawasaki X2. Kawasaki felt there was little market demand for such a unique craft.
That rear lounger is 🔥
Yeah it’s cool.
I’m still riding my 2016 FX-SVHO, FOR NOW.
Same engine, but I have had to repair my Nano hull twice.
Ouch!
So glad I've been waiting!
Yeah?
@@watercraftjournal You not a fan of Yamy?
@@ricksters11 yamaha makes the best pwc
do we know what the top speed of the 2022 jetblast is?
54mph.
So if it doesn’t come from the factory. With the integrated audio system. It can’t be added later did I understand that correctly???? Great information
You heard correctly
Nice. So, 2024 FX SVHO models will have an engine upgrade and an IDF like Seadoo? I like to see the new 310R.
Doubtful
Getting the FX SVHO w/ a recdeck
Nice
SXS 2 and 4 seat PWC would be a welcome addition
LOL well, that would be different.
I was looking at the FX series. I am looking to see if there are any differences in the HO and the cruiser HO. Is it strictly the seat?
Seat, colors and pop-up cleats.
Time to upgrade
Yessir!
@@watercraftjournal Wait I have to get that light blue FX SVHO for a 7 inch screen. No way I would ride that. I will have stay with my 21 VX deluxe another year or so until all models have phone integration.
I ordered the 2022 FX Cruiser SVHO in red with the integrated audio system.
How easy would it be to switch those speakers out for some JL Audio replacements?
Seems like a MASSIVE waste of money to hack up a brand new sound system that would likely void your ski's warranty.
@@watercraftjournal
I like all the other aspects of the system but I’m sure the JL speaker sounds better than the stock ones.
I wonder how easy it will be to swap them out.
If it voids the warranty then of course I’m not going to switch them out. I’m sure they’ll be tolerable though until they get upgraded. Perhaps if Yamaha did the service it wouldn’t void the warranty.
I don’t think that swapping out a pair of speakers should be looked at as “hacking” up a system if it’s done by a professional.
Im still happy with my EXR. Doing wheelies does not interest me. Would get boring real quick. Trim would be nice but.
We love the EXR. Plus Yamaha says the 'Blaster isn't meant for wheelies.
The blue and yellow makes it look like a blue angels jet that's probably going to be a big hit in Pensacola Florida..
LOL
For exploring the Watercraft Journal JetSki many more I wanting to learning about living of life's about of you 💓 Kevin Shaw's .
Nobody knows what ANY of your comments mean, David.
Nice bro can't wait 🔥
Great!
2022 gp1800 svho or 20200 fx svho?
FX HO
Is the wave blaster and the EXR pretty similar in terms of features and performance?
It’s not a waveblaster
The new Jet Blaster takes the previous EXR in a whole different direction. The new 30" wide bars, foot wedges and extended trim allows the 'Blaster to be super loose and playful. While the EXR was intended more for sportier/racier handling; the Jet Blaster is really meant for donuts, powerslides and even jumping wakes. (We know, right?!)
@@lpitte3847 Oops. I guess I miss the old days
@@watercraftjournal That's awesome! Thank you for informing me of the differences. Great video as well!
Is the SMC fibreglass hull only for FX models?
Yep > watercraftjournal.com/gallery-introducing-the-2022-yamaha-waverunner-lineup-video/
Yes
Interesting as I don’t see the SMC hull on either the Yamaha USA or Canada websites.
Good, nothing there to make me sorry for buying my 2021 GP1800R SVHO which I absolutely love. Ive had the thing in 7 different lakes and I have yet to see another one.

Maybe opt for a '22 FX. The improvements are significant.
Gives me goosebumps the future is bright as soon as we can fix the supply chain
They’re working on it
Great video. When do you think 2022 FX SVHO Cruisers will be delivered to dealerships? Thanks.
Good question! Obviously, Australia is getting their orders first as summer is nearing right now.
I want rec deck on the vx but idk how stable that will be
Not available for the VX.
@@watercraftjournal i can dream
when should we expect dealers to start receiving the 2022s?
It's going to be varied. Containers full of units are on their way to Australia and Brazil. US dealers will see them in waves; obviously, states like Florida will see the first. Next come high volume dealers and then lastly, low volume and/or seasonal dealers.

Absolutely not. They want you to buy a NEW ski.
What is the top end for the Freestyle 110hp? Out of all the new 2022 models which one is the most fun to ride with one rider?
Of which skis?
@@watercraftjournal Yamaha
The 'Blaster makes 110HP and is a riot. Super loose.
Any idea when dealers will be getting '22 FX's? Some just received '21 models a few weeks ago...
Exactly. Yamaha has said October, but expect it to be slightly later (just to be safe).
will the wreck deck fit the ex lineup?
Not in the least.
Hey Kevin is that jet fish stuff from the same company with the "jet fish" deep sea tuna kit from Australia (2016 to 2018 fx waverunner kit) or different all together.
Very unlikely.
@@watercraftjournal So I email the jet fish guy I know I was goin to sell his other kits here in the states for the 2012 to the 2018 fx line but the covid messed that up and he says he did have a helping hand in this with yamaha to make the kits just thought I let you know.
Do you have any first hand pictures of the 2022 fx svho? I’m leaning towards that model, just not too sure of the color!
What do you see in the video and article?

Hi Kevin, I live in Australia and I've been holding off on purchasing a ski. I'm new to PCW and looking at the FX cruiser or the Seadoo GTX and be used for skiing and knee boarding etc. I'll be using it on rivers lakes and mostly at our beach house in Philip Island. What brand would you suggest.
Cheers Andy
Kevin’s done a video on this very topic already.
Thanks I’ll check it out
Hey Kevin. Yamaha VX Cruiser HO for $12,449 or Kawasaki STX 160X for $10,499? Or the three cylinder TR1 Yamaha VX for $10,449?
I'm leaning towards the Kawi. Zero interest in a stereo. The Yamaha ride system is pretty slick but I'm willing to forgo it for the $2,000 bump in price. Mostly interested in bang for your buck ride and performance. Also wondering who is going to have less problems with availability. I'm in Washington State. Thanks.
Kawi’s are a good bargain
Dawg u could easily pipe on that recdeck
Pipe?
Excellent Video Article Kevin, your competitors can't compare with WCJ.
I appreciate that!
WTF is with Canada pricing. $14,599 for the Jet blaster. Also the Superjet retails for $14,099. A 2022 Seadoo GTI SE 170 is $14,599. A 2022 Spark Trixx is $9,799 The prices are so high for Canada I know a local guy that has a deposit on a Superjet in Washington state. Were in Vancouver BC. (Canadian $$$)
VX cruiser HO is priced over 45% higher in Canada... that’s crazy!
CAN is worth 80% of a dollar.
Love your content Kevin and I need your help! Had my money down on a 2021 Yamaha that I didn't get so I'm stoked about the new Yamahas. It will be our first waverunner/s. I want one I can tow skiers and boarders on so thinking one of the VX HO models or one of the FX HO models. I know you love the FX SVHO, but I'm not sure I need the extra horsepower and I worry a little about those motors being a little less reliable. Plus, if I spend a little less on one of these I might also get the blaster. I would really love your advice!
VX Cruiser HO is the way to go.
@@watercraftjournal Why do you put the VX Cruiser HO over the FX Cruiser HO as the way to go?
I'm no where near as qualified as Kevin or his crew but my opinion get the SVHO once your more experienced you will wish you went with the higher powered model, secondly Idk about your part of the world but here in AUS an SVHO sells no issues a HO sits on market for long time unless it's priced very cheap..... everyone here wants the supercharged skis for resale SVHO mite be the way to go haha
@@conpoulos7233 Because the SVHOs are more high strung and running the supercharger does that mean that they require more service and maintenance? Also, my more sensible better half has convinced me to buy one this year and if we love it as much as we think we will, we'll get another one next year. That could be the SVHO. Although I am also really curious about the super lightweight chuckable Blaster? Thanks for all the feedback. As a Noob, I need all the help I can get :-)
Blaster is a rec lite model it's great in its own right but if your looking at an FX a wave blaster is not for you.... look if you take care of the ski and you don't abuse it the supercharged model will be just as reliable as the NA model, servicing price is about the same and the supercharged ski won't need any additional maintenance/repairs for at least the first few years and by that time you will be an experienced rider and be so very glad you chose the SVHO over HO.. the SVHO engine isn't really
Highly strung from factory it's very
Restricted and the motor isn't being pushed to hard at all when it is in stock form go SVHO you won't regret it.... also Kevin says he always recommends the NA ski to people who ask so that is the answer you will get off him as he looks at it from an experienced rider point of view if the power scares you just use the learner mode
Ex sport still the same?
Yup. Just new colors.
How about those who waited for there 2021 Waverunners? Can they get a free upgrade on the GPS and touchscreen with all the new upgrades? Just sayin.
BTW, I wish the damn dealer or anyone for that matter would have told us about ALL the new upgrades!
They 1. Had ZERO knowledge; most dealers are clueless. 2. Free upgrade? That’s laughable.
I can’t be the only one waiting to see people hit 360s on the new wave blaster
Larger video on it coming soon!
Man seadoo I believe still has me at the fish pro but that fx svho may have won for me but waiting on kawasaki now to show us the 310 lol
Don't expect a fishing-anything from Kawi.
Second jetski will be for play. Seadoo fishpro for fishing and for the mrs. Kawasaki was going to be my mess around ski or the Fx svho.
On the fxho was the transducer on the inside or outside of the hull for the garmin?
2:29 "reboarding ladder" design feels so wrong ..
It works though.
