There is a very similar game played in various parts of India and is called by different names with slight variations. Its called 'Pallankuzhi( pronounced as puhl-uhn-koo-yi) in the tamil language, which loosely translates to 'Pits and holes' describing the board. Very interesting to see similar games played across different cultures !
You only take the opponent's stones when the last stone you land goes to an empty cup on your own side. Not to non-last stones and not on the opposite side
Mancala is a great game - and the boards are not that expensive. Get your own HERE - amzn.to/3ONCRQs

Do Indians also use red beads from a tree? I'm from Sri Lanka and even the game named after that tree.
Tamarind seeds
@@saatv7231 yes...we either use red beads or tamarind seeds whichever is available in a region

I've always wondered about this game. Seemed easy to learn and your instructions are wonderful. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
What’s with the scary horror movie transition sound?
This was my question too

Where can I find the digital version that you are using for your tutorial?
When one side clears towards the end, does the side that still has beads collect them and put them in their mancala?
We've always played with 3 stones in each section to start
It's not the same way for me . when I arrive on a cup with 2 seeds , i have the right to take them including my last seed droped in this cup .
Question.. Do the moves have to be contiguos or can you hop to any other gaps (mini mancalas)?
The Arabs invented this game
"my opponent gets a free move because he moved them in" around the 6:31 mark. I don't understand what happened there...please explain?
He moved just one and it landed in the mancala. I think he made a mistake saying "them"
