You don’t get enough credit. Instead of just going down articles or wiki entries you actually find the comics to get the source themselves and you buy them if they aren’t available online. Massive credit for actually putting in effort in a time where most UA-camrs who make superhero related content are top 10 channels or Hate creators!
Most good UA-camrs don’t get enough credit
That's actually a really good point. Big props to Drake and his dedication to the medium!
*spoilers for the movie* The armour wasn't on the island in the movie, it was left in the outside world (since Asteria had to wear it when she stayed back) and Diana tracked it down, so it wasn't a part of the games.
Right, even though I remember that part I was confused as to if the games had anything to do with her having the armor.
I actually was about to post this. I remember her telling steve that she found it when he first saw it.
I mean I guess if you still want to loosely believe in the theory still. You can say that whoever wins the race has the job of tracking down where Asteria is staying at now on Earth.
@@xanderm6090 They're very explicitly not allowed to ever leave the island.
You look great with Wonder Woman's Tiara and braclets lol
I couldn't pull it off, nor am I brave and secure enough
@@indatube lol
Why are you gae
He's Wonder Drake
Weird but true
First time I saw the armor was in the 2006 Justice League Heroes game, she spins and quick changes to it in the final act of the game. What does it do? Nothing, like it's other appearances, when big stuff happens, she wears it apparently.
It took me waaaaay too long to realize that the DC Universe Online video game rewarded you with THIS armor for picking Wonder Woman as your mentor...
I see you everywhere
That armor was the equivalent of the helms of battlefield commanders when combat still used the sword/shield/armor and the one commanding the troops NEEDED to be in the fight. It's also great PR if you win a battle wearing that armor, the stories from the troops would be endless.
If you want to buy Kingdom Come, it's a legitimately good book. I'd you buy though my link, it helps the channel. :) amzn.to/2X0gRXe
Actually just picked it up from my local comic book shop. The sold kind of like a tpb, but just all the individual issues. Looking forward to reading it
Duuude!!! I'm loving your mario mug
My understanding was that Diana found the armor wherever it was that Asteria dropped it in the men's world, I assumed as part of her duties as an anthropologist. They've definitely made it seem like no other Amazonians have left Themyscira, and Asteria didn't go back.
Also, yes, Kingdom Come is great, and anyone who hasn't read it definitely should.
That Mug is Badass
Armor looks really cool, but the justification in the movie was lacking and it’s barely in the film for like 10 minutes.
I liked the movie quite a bit, but they overhyped this armor in all the promotional material
Kind of like the final bat costumes in Batman Forever.
The whole movie is a disappointment
@@extonjonas6820 not really. Thought it was pretty good.
@@daltonwilliams1723 I thought the movie was boring, thought the villians powers were poorly defined and convenient and some of the effects were painful
I watched the movie when it debuted on HBO Max, so coming back two months later has given me a good sense of clarity and objectivity. Movie wasn't the best, but I think it was pretty fun. Diana just went to find it since it's from her home and even in the "modern" era, she deals with artifacts from long ago.
As Drake mentioned, the armor can do all of the things she can do, so she doesn't need it. I think that her using it when she's still recovering from her power loss and fighting someone who wanted to be "just like her" is a good justification.
Then again, it's been months so maybe I'm remembering wrong.
The film added a ton to the lore. A new take on Invisibility and use for it. Great. The armor's history. Great. How flight came came to be. Poetic. Loved it.
I've always wondered... WHY DON'T THEY JUST SHOOT AT HER LEGS (For her bracelet times)
She'll just kick the bullets off with her boots anyway.
That's why I like the boots idea
Then she does the Amazon warrior version of Riverdance. ;)
Didn't she have super strength like Supes as well? Hence why she also immune to bullet damages
@@ShatteredGlass916 she's super strong alright, but she doesn't have any special cut weapon blocking skin
"Fan Service! Have some Fan Service!"

The biggest shame in all of this is Alex Ross not getting his due in WW84 for creating the Golden eagle armor
He actually got a thank you credit in the credits of WW84.
Haha what you talking about, it was in the credits, having not to credit someone for its art is dumb, and clearly they’ve been in the business for so long, thus they won’t forget to credit the artist. Stop making a publicity, where you don’t even have proof, it’s clearly in the credits.
@@joshcaparas2536 sure Karen ;) a thank you is totally enough

*Super Powerful Golden Armor*
*Gets destroyed by a Cat Lady*
to be fair cat lady also had super strength
The armor reminds me of a harpy eagle! They’re beautiful birds 👏🏾
"It doesn't do anything really in the comics."
hmm, kinda like the movie.
The first time I ever saw that armor was in the crossover event Our Worlds At War where the Justice League, Teen Titans, Young Justice, etc. all had to band together to defend the Earth from massive numbers of alien invaders. Diana, Donna, Cassie, and Hippolyta all had their own versions of the armor, and it allowed them to function in space (which was very important). It also provided better protection than the metal and cloth Amazon garb they normally wore.
Yeah, I assumed it was just more protective.
I call wonder women's new armor the golden eagle 🦅 😁
Same
@@Materminds187 lol thank you for agreeing with me lol 😂😁
It's an golden golden eagle armor/suit/costume you see the animal it represent it's an golden eagle(Zeus's sacred animal) and it's also golden as the metal, so yeah
In the movie the winner of the tournament did not get to wear the armor because Diana didn’t find it until a millennial later in the world of man while she was looking for The ancient Amazonian
i guess even Diana feels like being all fancy & stuff
Drake, you have to wear the bands and tiara again. That was adorable.
i really appreciate the bracelet-tiara combo you're wearing.
Love seeing the art of ALex Ross, George Perez and Phil Jimenez. Great video. There WAS a time where the armor saved Wonder Woman's life... I cant remember if it was Diana or Hypolita. It was during Jimenez' run and involved space and Green Lanterns.
Breathtakingly elegant analysis/&dissection📽👑
You didn't do the Wonder Woman Spin when you put on the tiara and bracelets. Also in WW84 i think Diana says she just search for the armor. So they couldn't have had it for the Amazons to wear.
Screaming Chicken Armor? I like it!
I love how I always learn something fun from these videos Drake! :)
Nice look, chuckle. I'm wondering if it adds to your curls or takes aways? Either way, nice touch and thanks for the content.
Thnx I didn’t know much about it’s history but now I do
0:45 come on, that's a great name!
Drake do be looking absolutely ✨pretty✨ in that Tiara tho
Bless you for wearing the tiara and bracelets.
bro, i love your videos and love your content. i don't know if you heard about the invincible tv series adaptation coming this 2021. you gotta make a review of that trailer bro..that is all more power to you
Probably not what writers were going for, but the bird-themed armor (to me) could be a reference to the Stymphalian birds in the sixth labor of Heracles or the arrow-birds Ares gave to the amazons to guard his shrine. They are sometimes identified as one and the same. They were metallic birds the size of a crane that can shoot their feathers like arrows/bullets. Though, like I said, they probably didn't get their armor idea from greek myths.
I was kind of disappointed with how the armor was integrated, I didn’t know about this armors existence so when I first saw the trailer I though Hawkgirl was gonna be in the movie which got me super hyped
Yow Drake Happy New year I wish you a blessed 2021 could you do a video on what Damian Wayne is doing after Alfred's death
Oh! What a pleasant surprise! The movie is not great but I LOVE the armor.
I'd like to make a recommendation.
I'd like you to go over all of the times in Marvel comics that the other dimensional world of Avalon, or other world if you want to call it that, appears.
From the research I've done, it has actually been a very important focal point to many heroes and groups of heroes in the Marvel comics universe.
Plus I also like its ties to Arthurian mythology.
I wouldn't say it does nothing. It's basic physics that whenever you wear a full set of golden armor your power increases relative to the position of the sun
*pride increases*
Was anybody else’s reaction to Wonder Woman’s armor when they first saw it in the trailer “OH MY GOD ITS THE GOLD CLOTH FROM SAINT SEIYA YES” no just me? Yeah that’s understandable
Awesome video. I thought the armor was made for the movie at first.
will you ever bring "drunk drake" back? I loved these videos
It's a Patreon exclusive show. that kind of language is a no go for the channel now since my content is frequently played in comic shops.
@@ComicDrake thanks for the reply. well I guess I have to support you on patreon then 😂.
Oh, cool. I first came across the golden armor in Kingdom Come, but I had no idea that was its actual first appearance.
Wait, when is Wonder Woman bullet proof? Every time I read about her she has to block with her bracelets
No, if she doesn't block them with her bracelets she gets shot like a regular human
@@okgreatprod which is why I asked because Drake mentioned it in the video
@@deeksbogard6137 probally his mistake.
Wonder woman is weak to piercing weapons. She like earth.
pounding on it don't do anything.
They should take inspiration from Saint Seiya with this armor. Make it a sacred relic gifted to the amazons by Athena herself, a living and almost sentient armor that can only be worn by a warrior loyal to Athena and that gives a x100 boost in power to the wearer, makes her impervious to all damage except divine attacks and that is equipped with a golden bow and a single golden arrow capable of one shotting a god.
I think the armor should be called the Nike Guard, because Nike was the Greek goddess of victory & she also had bird wings on her back.
I love the fresh format xD
The dome head protects her from radiation, even though her arms and legs are exposed.
Logic is not important xD
just feels like a Saint Seiya reference to me
It does
That Mario Mug is Magnificent!
SPOILERS FOR WW84
No, the armor wasn't a prize for the initial sequence since it was on man's world, not Themiscyra
That bubble that went around her head was actually a small portion of the Wonder Dome, the Lansinarian technology that was also used to make her invisible jet.
ah yes, the invisible plane goop.
Why not make it canon that it is magical Nth Metal, the same divine substance that holds the Source Wall together. Hawkwoman & Hawkman have wings and mace, this is a full suit of armor made by Hephæstus or Nike goddess of Victory or something.
Is it just me or did anyone else cry tears of joy when Diana turned the jet invisible lol 😂😁
You and the rest of GA.
@@knullgorr3822 lol 😂😁
It's explained in the movie that Diana tried to find Asteria (the original owner of the armor) when she moved to the world of men but was only able to find the armor itself. We see Asteria mid-credits played by Linda Carter which is probably just fan service and won't be a thing moving forward.
6:08 - 6:12 I literally though that what the wings were for lol
@Daniel De leon lol yessssss I would to see that 😂😁
I kind of like that it is just some armor, for it just sounds so grounded.
Would be neat if she didn't wear it after use for repairs.
nice to know it is mostly cosmetic in the comics I've been meaning to get to kingdom come for awhile now better make use of the link
thanks i needed this explanation. though i am also now disappointed that its just an armour and nothing else. though also also, it is kinda nice to see that not everything is so god tier and sometimes they just want something "Normal" ish. lastly, i think your bracers are upside down in the video.
The vignette is strong as ever
I always think of Silver Swan when I see it.
Funny. Was thinking they could have done Silver Swan than Cheetah for the movie.
another good cosplay
Love it
Even if it just a bracelet and crown made out of paper. ❤️❤️
Those are metal.
@@ComicDrake wait? really?
dang, I am too sleepy to tell.
That another plus for you then 😀
You see the deal with the armor shape and name is that Zeus's sacred animal was the golden eagle (an smaller species very close to imperial eagle ) also known in pop culture bcs of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and is modern's greek national animal and bird. So the armor is just an golden golden eagle to represent a superhero greek armor bcs the hoplite armor does not look flashy enough to be something special in a comicbook and the ranked officers in the Ancient greek army did not had different gear than the simpler soldier except some individually designed helmets and capes
So basically the story of the armor is it's her other superhero costume it's... What would you get if you cross an Ancient greek armor(which actually did leave the feet bare) with an superhero costume in the image of a golden eagle, in gold in fact to put emphasis to golden ? the answer is this golden golden eagle armor.
I really want that cup
Loved this vid! I that Patty Jenkins just made this armor up.
To be fair the armor doesn't really have to do anything except be strong enough to protect her from attacks. I mean that's what armor normally does. I imagine this fulfills the same role as regular human armor but on a whole other level. But now I'm wondering if it's supposed to be made out of one of those numbered metals they introduced in dark knights metal. Like 8th metal or whatever it was.
Great video xo
I can never get into the Injustice storyline because I feel Kingdom Come is much better. People who started with the games might prefer injustice.
I shall name this armor Golden Griffon
Wonder Woman isn’t actually 100% bulletproof, she uses her bracelets or lasso so the armor does give her that
Can you introduce Astro Clty?
It covers more of the body than the standard costume so it's going to have that benefit, but she's also gonna get tired out quicker because it's heavier. So, boring practical reasons.
It reminds me of the Gold Saint Armor from Saint Seiya
HeyComic Drake would you review Blood and thunder a comic book event
Love the tiara
Can you Please do a video on infamous iron man doom
Maybe someday, people will use influences like the Caucasian Eagle for the suit. It generally carries out Zeus's will like with punishing Prometheus or carrying Thunderbolts (www.greeklegendsandmyths.com/caucasian-eagle.html). Maybe it would function in a more powerful manner to Wonder Woman's bracers by channeling her godly power without falling to the madness.
After 2020, I almost dread saying those words ... But here goes nothing :
Happy New Year to you and yours, and all the best for whatever shit show comes next.
It would be cool if that ancient warrior who originally wore the armor was Nubia a good set up for a third movie
I have no idea if he being sarcastic about kingdom come or he actually don’t care about it
Bc kingdom come is one of the best stories of all time
I'll call this armor the golden eagle
With your leg how it was, glad you weren't wearing Wonder Woman's full outfit haha
Diane states that she search everywhere for the armor. Because of the events of the first movie, she is forbidden to go back to the island because she went off with a man. So, I don't think the armor is won due to a rite of passage but just an Artifact left over from another time.
The Golden Eagle armor is basically indestructible, it exists because Wonder Woman has a lot of weak points in her armor and the Chicken Suit closes those gaps for sword fighters or Cheetah, who’s claws can pierce her skin and can kill her
Can you do an armory video about captain america's shield?
I completely fail to understand the use for the armor in the movie. They set up the armor as “strong enough to withstand the strength of the world” or whatever (even though Cheetah tears it apart in seconds but whatever) but I don’t understand why Diana needs it. She has her powers back by that point. So what is the armor doing against Cheetah that her powers can’t do for her?
If you removed the helmet and added that American half cape thing( as much as I love the American and its god awful design, maybe just switch it for something with the same colors and stars but different pattern.) It would be pretty cool .
"Kingdom Come" was the worst thing that ever happened to Wonder Woman. It's a great story but it's also the root of every bad direction the character has been taken in. The Screaming Chicken armour is meant to be Wonder Woman at her lowest point. Her entire arc in that story was realising she had lost her way and needed to rediscover her true nature as a champion for peace. Sadly so many writers didn't get it and that lead to WW being written as a bloodthirsty savage. Don't give me that "she's a warrior" nonsense; practically EVERY superhero is a warrior because they fight evil. Superman is a warrior and he doesn't go around chopping people up with a big grin while boasting about the enemies he's slaughtered.
The "warrior first" direction completely ignores what Wonder Woman is supposed to be; a champion for peace, compassion and forgiveness. She's not Xena, she's not Red Sonja, she's Wonder Woman.
When I first saw the trailers I face-palmed. Like you said it was a classic example of throwing something in so they can go "see, see, we researched the comics" while completely ignoring the context and what it actually means. It's disgraceful.
This makes her getting her powers back really dumb as getting the armour would have actually been her loop hole for the wishing. She could have realised she relied too much on the armour and took back her wish after.
@@Cobra-Commander83 this would've been so much better
@@louis4396 I agree.
