starting classes this month (8/2024) excited
Congrats!
Which school do you take?
Looking at going to school to be a surgical tech right now, & I definitely plan to travel with it in the future. Thanks for this video!! 🙂
Welcome.
Good to know. I’ve been thinking about going this route and then eventually becoming a CSFA
That is a great route! CSFA’s can make more money and have a bigger part in the actual procedure as opposed to managing the entire back table and supplies.
Do you know of any schools that offer EKG training online as well as x-ray technician? I'm in the state of Michigan and a lot of these don't have a lot of online training although they do accept reciprocity
Here is a link for a school that does EKG training all online and finds your place to do an externship for you. deals.preppy.org/ekg-technician-program?affiliate_id=4248789
Orthopedics is hot up here in the Puget sound area.
NH checking in, Wife has been in the field for about 12 years and just broke $31/hr at a surgery center. She also gets a stipend for cases that she scrubs as the First Assist.
Thanks for the knowledge! Is NH for New Hampshire?
@@thesterileguy Yes, the southern part of the state specifically, which is a bit more populated.
Thank you!💯
Welcome.
Is this a class that people can take up online that you don't have to have Community college training I would love it if it was just an online class not necessarily a community college course 🤔
This course from Preppy is 100% online, is self paced, they find you an externship place close to you, and is only $1599 total. Plus you get a free laptop. surgicaltechonline.com/
@@thesterileguy are they accredited?
@@fromjaxflorida Yes they are, it runs through Auburn University.
Thank you
You’re welcome.
Could you provide insight on getting a ST-C instead of CST in California?
Absolutely. I started prepping for that video which will also include the NRST certification.
@@thesterileguy Thank you! I will keep an eye out for that 🙂
Can a Nurse works as Surgical tech in US...if I bachelors degree do i still need a schooling?
Kind of, let me explain. A nurse works under their own license, so they can work as a “scrub nurse,” however, they still have to undergo Perioperative Nurse training. A lot of times hospitals have their own internal training programs for nurses to move specialists like Operating Room, Emergency etc. So yes, but you’ll still need Operating Room training for nurses which includes scrubbing tech roles.
Any tips for the CER?
Yes, I have a video all about it here: m.ua-cam.com/video/Pyexv2ipvOA/v-deo.html
What would you rate the difficulty of the surgical tech course overall 1-10?
Are you referring to the course I have linked in description? If so I would say probably a 6/10. If you are a procrastinator and have difficulty motivating yourself then maybe 7-8/10.
@@thesterileguy sorry I mean to get certified as a tech from program or school
@@TheTiberuisWay Depends on the school and if their curriculum properly prepares you. But the Surgical Tech certification test is definitely difficult for sure because it covers so many different areas. You'll definitely want a good school, and definitely want to continue studying the books while taking practice tests.
❤
23 an hour for a surgical tech is abysmal
Yeah, no bueno.
$23? Here at Kaiser in SoCal they start over $30
Im in NYC I've been a tech for 2 years. In 22 at NYU i was making $34.58hr and before I left in 2023 Was making $37hr and went to an ASC and I'm making $60.00hr and I'm 15 minutes from my house in brooklyn. 4:25
@@TheLibra926how many hours a week do you work?
@@Sowhat-b7e 40hrs plus and now I'm also working as a traveler so maybe 80hrs plus a week I work! I'm soo Gr8ful.
You can easily past 130k, i know a tech thats made close to 200k one year
You definitely can. $130k is more easily reached and reasonable as an expectation for most.
u mean acsergical technician can make all that, or sergical technologiste abd wgats te difference plz i m cnsidering it
There used to be a bigger difference over a decade+ ago as far as pay, however, most hospitals don’t care how you got certified as a surgical technologist/technician, you get paid the same amount. Surgical Technologists have a degree in Surgical technology, whereas Surgical Techs have a shorter program like a certificate, or course etc. Spending more money on an associates degree doesn’t get you higher pay anymore. Nor does it state if you’re a better tech or not. It just means you were able to memorize more and pass tests. It all comes down to your performance in the operating room as to whether you’re a good tech or not.
