I first came across Blue October through one of my bosses (younger than I am.) His MP3 player had "You Make Me Smile." I mean this as the greatest compliment, I thought it was a Peter Gabriel song. He said, no, Blue October. Then, through one of his colleagues, I came to have "Foiled." And while "18th Floor Balcony" has some darkness to it, "Hate Me" became my favorite Blue October song. No surprise. of course. Thanks for sharing the pain in your life. "I am drinking what used to be sand and touching the edge of her skin" was my introduction.
I found you about a year ago, fell so in love with your music. I like to research people who really touch me like you have. Was blessed to go see you in concert in Chattanooga in March this year and tookmy daughter who said she was just bliwn away at how powerful your band was. Halfway through she said is this a christian band. She knows thats moatly all i listen to in my life now, though loved rock throughout growing up. I managed to overcome my social phobias, was so nauseous due to being so close to people in the concert, but focused on your music once you began singing...that it dissipated. Thank you for being so positive, for your music!
Justin, I hope you know what an inspiration you've become to a lot of people. I'm 45 years old and it took me a long time to face my demons. I'm still battling them to this day. The things I've been through should have killed me, with or without drugs and alcohol. Thank you for being real. Thank you for openly being human...a human with thoughts, feelings, flaws and attributes. We are all perfectly imperfect and learning to accept ourselves as we are, right here right now, opens the door to change. I love you man, thank you for being you. Namaste ❤
Thank you so much sharing your experience, strength and hope 💙 I went down a dark path after my husband died last October leaving behind myself and our 2 year old son Fisher that we tried for over 10 years to have a child. Been sober for over 2 months and you are absolutely correct, the 12 steps are a life saver. Thank you again and... WE DO RECOVER 💪
Your songs seriously speak to my soul. Got me through some rough nights in the service when I was deployed to Iraq, and just couldn't sleep... Sound of Pulling Heaven Down and 18th Floor Balcony calmed me down enough to drift off. It feels like your music has matched almost every change in my life as each new album came out. It's raw, it's real, and I can definitely relate. Huge thanks to your wife and family support for sharing you with us while you're on the road! Keep it up, man. Your music changes lives! ❤
I cant tell you how much I needed to hear that song. My little brother passed away two years ago this coming Monday from a drug overdose and this time at home, has really made it difficult to deal with.
I've seen you in concert, n actually got a hug m u signed my arm in Wilmington Delaware, also have 16 years clean! Your music has helped me n I've been a fan since the late 90's n keep rocking
Talking about the fear of having your first child. My son was born premature and had what is called a TE Fistula (born with no esophagus) so he was 8 hrs old and spent the next 6 in surgery. 13 weeks in the NICU. Bringing him home for the first night was terrifying. He is 12 now and doing great but man talk about a terrifying time in my life. I hope and pray their baby is born healthy and strong. Thank you Justin for all you do. Your music has helped me through more hard times than you can imagine.
Thank you for your encouragement and passion. Depression sucks the life out of you.....crawl in to that cocoon of misery. But I knew that I was there. So look into the mirror of your life. The sadness stares back at you. The tears well up and you finally go......I love you. Your are worthy. You are loved. You can do this. Metamorph into the butterfly.....you are beautiful. Love Venus.❤️
I couldn't stay up last night for this lol different time zone but im here to say. I am living for this! Met justin a couple years back and he is one of the most humble and soothing person. So to have you doing this during this time 🙌 I can't thank you enough! Such an amazing songwriter 🖤
I was gonna get to see you in Denver this summer 😢 dang ol quarantine. Never been to a concert. I want my first concert to be you guys (you’re my favorite band!!!!!) so hopefully that gets to happen this year! Stay safe and healthy ❤️
Are you guys going to be coming back to New Orleans in July or August? Didn’t get to see you this March because of the outbreak of this virus. Also just wanted to say that, dude, your music and Blue October’s music brings me a peace like I’ve never known. It takes me so far away from reality at times then spins me right back around and puts that same reality right back in my face. Difference is, I see it in a different light, a more positive light. I’ve never found that in the words or music of any other group/band. Really just wanted to say thank you for that. Thank you and all the guys, thank you to your wives and families. Everyone who’s involved in the art that you produce, thank you.
(EDITED) Ooook..lol I just realized I am looking at BLUE OCTOBER'S page and NOT where I mentioned before! (Just woke up...that's my excuse!) It was on one of Breaking Benjamin's lol but in case you want to read what I wrote, here's the link: (my comment I was referring to is the 2nd one down. I hope you read it! Sounds like you'd actually appreciate it and relate! I'd like to know your thoughts on it...maybe I'll just post it on here as well...🤔) Either way, I hope you Enjoy!! 🤟💙🖤💙🖤🤘 ua-cam.com/video/x9hZFyoqp7Q/v-deo.html !!!!!OMG YES!!!!! Started going to “Celebrate Recovery” (a church/scripture based 12 step program) in 2012. It literally saved my life. ✊🏻 It works if you work it. So do the work!
Thank you for letting people know that addiction is not the end, you are using your platform to pay it forward and let people know they are to their past and their future can be anything they want. THEY MATTER! My mum became addicted to alcohol and medication for 3 years until she nearly died from an overdose, I was 10 years old when the paramedics had to teach me how to look after her when she odeed, and 13 when I made the call to get her to the hospital 2 minutes before I lost her, my brother and I were put into care while she spent 3 months getting better for us, I was 9 when she naively got involved with the wrong people, pent up anxiety that wasn't dealt with from my father beating the life out of her, then my brother when he was 18 months old, she let go, I watched it happen, I watched them all, it's like everyone was made of glass and I could see inside them, their pain, their fears, their fear of being betrayed, the need to erase memories, and they taught me so much. I was lucky, I was born mentally unable to hate or hold grudges, no one knows why, my brain has been checked, it's and average brain. The love in me for people is crippling. The need for them to see what I see is my air. Then I let it go to people like you, thank you, thank you, thank you soooo much 🥲🙆🏻♀️🙂🙏🕊✌💞.
