    Great review, Lee! 😊
    But yeah... I totally agree about the AA batteries. As you put those in the radio I was thinking about a way to mod it to put a lithium battery someway. 😂

    After some modifications I really like mine! I found the gimbals a tad too soft for my liking. After swapping my old DX6i springs in there... Perfect! I did find a way to get two 18650's in there. Bit snug. But works great! Awesome performance for 1/2 the cost of a Spektrum!

  • @vince086

    Totally agree about the AA batteries.
    My idea radios would take at least two 18650 cells and a USB-C port to charge them without having to take them out.

    Thank's for the review and totally agree about what others have said about the batteries after having a bad experience with AA's many years ago. Corrosion is the biggest enemy. Also I wish they had a rotary knob on it to control gain settings for gyro's.

    Great review!, I've had the T6i for a few years and found it flawless for my mid/large scale pattern and .46 - .65 size fun flys!. Great DSMX type radio. I hear good things about the 10i, so I just ordered it!

    Honest and straightforward.. Great review Lee, I was considering one of these but after I watched this, I think I'll stick to my good old trusty i6X. I've done my own mods with higher gain antennas and 18650 LiIon. Does the job Thanks for sharing!!

    AA batteries and no JR bay. Deal breakers. Great review of the radio! I'm still wondering why radio manufacturers pretty much refuse to put USB C on these things. It's been a standard for cell phones, tablets and PCs for quite some time now.

    Thanks for a great video. I'm a little late on this one, but recently bought it and found the gimbal springs hopelessly soft. I saw a recommendation of Futaba springs as a replacement and found them to be way too large. Saw another user here commented about Spektrum DX6 springs, so I guess that's what I'll look into next.

    Great review as always, Lee. Thank you. But for $60 dollars more one can get the Jumper t16 pro and have a all around solution from the start. Hobby King are late again I'm afraid 😬

    Thanks for the video it was very helpful. I'm new to RC planes and I'm in search of my first transmitter. I've noticed that there isn't much talk about range in the reviews I've seen. Do they all the same or similar range? Thanks!

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 роки тому +1

      Most of the modern radios use 2.4Ghz and are limited to the power they can use. While some radios use some clever things to try and maintain the quality of the link at range (or when the model flies behind something) the laws of physics for the signal remain the same.
      Bottom line is that range is very location and situation dependent. Local RF interference, antenna alignment and a host of other things can affect how far you can fly with a model.
      You can expect to get about 1.5km out easily on legal 2.4Ghz systems. Most pilots look at lower frequencies and higher powers (if legal) to get further.
      Remember that in lots of places flying beyond line of sight (BLOS) isn't allowed.. I hope that helps..

    I'm really glad you suggested the tx6i in one of your videos, it has almost everything I need.
    I'll gladly buy this item in the future if it has resolved two issues I have with it, I'm hoping you could give me insight whether these shortcomings still exist.
    - I can't get a switch to activate a mix. You can assign a switch to a channel and thus use a switch to ,for example, increment the elevator by 10%. But I can't (de) activate a mix between 2 channels with a switch. Is that possible with this new radio?
    - Change servo speed, all the switch assignments (flaps, flaperon, etc) are instant, there is no way to add a timer to a servo movement to make the action a bit smoother. Can the new radio do that?

  • @ollidelmar9728
    @ollidelmar9728 2 роки тому

    scrolling drum really sucks. It's difficult to move. The FIX, it takes disassembling radio to get access to the scrolling drum. A little plastic safe grease does the trick. As you're in there, might consider moving the elevator drag plate over on top on the throttle drag plate.

    The original ORX T6 had the ability to use a 2S LiPo as well as AA batteries. I love my TX6i, but find it annoying to constantly have to remove the AA batteries. An external charging port (like the old Spektrum DX6i had) would have made things much easier.

    Just a quick question.... been thinking about this radio as a backup tx. price is right. I can live with some type of AA rechargeable batteries in it. When using timer does it utilize voice or even a tone to let you know you are at a certain point in timed flight? Or, do you have to keep an eye on the screen? Thanks for the review. It was a good one!

    Have just bought the Orange tx10i, mode 2 EU version. I have set up the plane mode & assigned SW2,4 & 7 to the elevator, rudder & aileron respectively. The problem is, all controls & throttle work well as long as SW1 is in position '0'. If SW1 is moved to position '1 or 2' The controls freeze in last position & throttle drives to low power. I have not assigned SW1 to anything.
    I have contacted Hobbyking about this but am not getting anywhere. Can anyone help please?

    • @roger-gmail8549

      @@Painless360 I don't think so as I have thought of that. If I assign a switch to throttle cut out the result is the same. It is as though it is an arming switch but dangerous if it gets moved in the air.

    Hey Painless bit off topic but would you know how to set up a 4 pin Dji Naza m8n GPS that sends both compass and GPS info through 1 UART on a Radix running Inav as it has no I2C?
    Thanks in advance matey

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 років тому

    • @sandyfpv5216
      @sandyfpv5216 5 років тому

      @@Painless360 Hey again thank you for the reply. So after much querying online and on a few Facebook groups the following steps are required.
      The pucks labeled as M8N and Naza are configured to Naza which as we know sends both compass and GPS over one set of TX & RX pins to a UART.
      To configure in Inav you follow the normal steps in the ports tab. Then must set the GPS type to DJI Naza in the config tab, save and reboot. Then to activate the compass, select GPSMAG as the type. Save and reboot.
      Left it for a few minutes and it worked!
      Calibrated the compass and all is good now.
      Turns out also the Inav wiki has an enormous writeup on it too down the bottom of the page

      Yes! open the transmitter and look at the right stick assembly. on the left side of it on the outer edge you will see a small adjustment screw.Loosen or tighten it this will make the stick convert into the throttle.Then go to the left stick and look on the right side of the stick and you will see the other adjustment screw Do the same to it and you will find that tension come on the stick.close the trans mitter up and turn it on
