Obscura may just be the Best of the Best. Good choice too. I am so glad you notice Sebastian Lanser behind the drums. His talent and dedication to music transcends through all genres. Please if you are interested check out his other projects like Panzerballet or better yet this new jazz stuff he’s been experimenting in. And man oh man is that bass tone epic! It’s what caught my attention when I first started listening to this master class band. And don’t be hard on yourself for not enjoying the vocals. I know a few people who are like myself that could care less about vocals. During raw and brutal instrumental sections the deep vocals are a fair complimentary supporting piece to help fill out the sound sonically, but I’d prefer an instrumental album with every release if I had it my way. You either love it, hate it, or you learn to deal with it lol. FYI, the drummer, second guitarists, and the bassist are leaving Obscura to start a new band called Obsidious. They kept the breakup professional.

You would probably really enjoy Mechina. They're a sci-fi movie soundtrack meets metal band. The band is completely self-funded, they don't have a record company. I would definitely recommend anything off of Empyrean. It's so atmospheric and their albums all feel like a journey. They blend metal instrumentation and vocals, with a symphonic, sci-fi back track, and it all fits together so perfectly.
Check out Interregnum, Imperialus, Anathema, or the self-titled Empyrean, (if you could do a full-album reaction, it would be even better) with Imperialus and Empyrean being the better ones imo.
Also there's a version of the album from 2013 that sounds a little more raw than the 2018 remastered version of it, and I honestly prefer the more raw sound.
They're honestly such an incredible band and I feel like you would enjoy them!

If you're doing a tech death week, you CAN'T do it without Necrophagist. Literally anything off of Epitaph (a lot of people tend to start with Stabwound)

Other than alkaloid, they're the best band in the scene. Especially the earlier stuff

The band just announced that they are parting ways with guitarrist, bassit and drummer…. I don't even know what to say, they were at the peak of obscura´s career, F.

You cannot do technical death metal week and not react to Cynic. They (and Atheist) basically created the genre.
I would suggest Veil of Maya or, if you really want an instrumental tech death track, might I suggest Textures. I would also suggest King of those Who Know and The Space for This off their 2nd album as great options.
