      He did it for a living, like a wolf killing for hunger not fun, a wolf never hates or loves its food, he just eats it. In the end all he thought was whether if anyone will notice a wolf who was all alone in this world. Atleast that's what I like to think.

    • @marcog.7322
      @marcog.7322 2 роки тому +9

      @Heat rewatched it yesterday so it's pretty fresh in my mind. The thing is that it seems unclear if he really wants to spare him at the start. For sure they have some chemistry, but midway through the film it shows you that Vic has no problem killing guys towards he has some kind of simpathy. This added to the fact that he was probably behind another killing spree of a taxi driver in another city (who conveniently committed suicide afterwards) makes me think that this is kinda his modus operandi. Maybe it's just left open to interpretation.

      @@MotorolasAregoodPhones578i checked out the movie again and Max survived because vincents shooting technique gets blocked by the door while max wild random shooting gets through the glass. Not only does that mean vincents way of adaptiving to each scenario failed himself at that moment, but also the flickering of the light benefits max shooting "strategy" as he "is always lucky with the lights".
      So in my mind vincents liked max enough to not go out of his way to end him there but his contracts always come first. That is my Interpretation of him screaming "i do this for a living" before dying.

    A great M.Mann film in that it all takes place in L.A. at night over there course of 4-6hrs... The night lights, the reflections off the glass/windows shows why L.A. is beautiful in the dark. Better than Heat? No, but a distant 2nd.

    • @William.H.Bonney
      @William.H.Bonney 3 роки тому +3

      I have a theory that Vincent met Neil from Heat just like he met Max. after Neil’s last prison stint he was on parole and had to drive a cab for work. Vincent took a liking to Neil, befriended him and taught him military style combat techniques. Vincent was definitely portrayed to have a special forces background then turned mercenary/ assassin

    • @davidlean1060
      @davidlean1060 5 місяців тому +1

      It's also a companion piece to Heat. Heat starts with the lead character entering the scene on a train. Collateral ends with Vincent exiting the film from the same station. Heat ends with Neil's death at the end of a LAX runway and Collateral begins with the sound of a jet's wheels touching down on a LAX runway.

      Ironically, Max got lucky with the lights - as he said before when he and Vincent just met at the TAXI,.
      Plus, Vincent due his high skills uses a technique called "mozambique drill", when he puts two bullets in the chest and one in the head. He tried to do same here, but were highly unlucky, since his shots only met the car door, when Max were just shooting spontaneously, panicking, with his closed eyes. Max's spread were lucky enough to hit Vincent in crucial spot.

      He hit the door with the Mozambique Drill. His reliance on that style lost against Max's chaotic shooting.
      Vincent lost that fight, but he died proving his point to Max and changing him forever.
