Any reason you decided to remove the whole cover instead of just the cap covering the backlap port?

A warning to noobs, you can easily chop the tips of your fingers off when backlapping. If your brush gets caught or your not paying attention, look out!!

Great info. I back-lap my push mower (Mascot Silent Cut 18) once a year for my 4K sq ft yard. Next video, please turn down (or remove) the piano music so I can hear the important “reel tone” change while the blade is honed. Keep up the good work. -Zoysia Mark
No music during the second round woulda been cool to hear how the sound changed during the lapping, but still a good vid🤙🏻
Brett, how much of the work/upkeep do you do yourself? And how much/what do you farm out to “specialists/experts”? (not to say you aren’t an expert, as it’s easy to see you have vastly more knowledge than most people when it comes to reel mowers)....And what would be the best place to start to get a good knowledge base for doing the basic garage upkeep on a powered reel mower?
I've done all maintenance on them myself so far. I may ask around the local golf courses and see if there is a good mechanic who works on them.
As far as learning about them I've watched a ton of UA-cam videos on them. Connor Ward and John Ware have been my go to guys as far as info and content on UA-cam goes. Also thelawnforum.com is a wealth of information as well. Those guys are super knowledgeable as well.

Haha yeah I like it! I'm mowing the back with a John Deere 110d I inherited from my grandfather. Its overkill for the space but I'll never get rid of it.
So you use A different reel mower for each yard...sweet!
@@RVALawnLove nope the back yard mower I use is a riding mower. The 42 inch deck is way overkill but like I said I won't ever get rid of it.

What made you decide to go with reel mowers ? Are they hard to maintain? I would like to have a small one to cut some small areas at home
Well Paul you'd have to go way back to my childhood year... but really I've just always liked how grass on golf courses looked and never thought it was achievable for a normal homeowner. I stumbled upon Connors channel and started really looking into it and a reel mower was the way to go for me.
As far as maintaining them goes, you have to really pay attention to a pre mow checklist and be a little more careful during use, but over all the maintenance is similar.
You can find deals man you just have to know where to look. I'd be glad to point you in the right direction if you want.
Brett's grasscapades my yard is to big for me to reel mow the whole thing but I have some little fenced in gardens with 419 Bermudagrass I’m thinking of reel mowing ... I would have to find a small cheap option
@@PaulsPrimeCuts the John Deere 180 series are 18 inch blades and can be had pretty cheaply. I bought mine off of the weeks auctions in Georgia for $110.

Do you have a hard time moving the mower around when the belts are not engaged or when you move it around in the transport wheels with the motor off I just bought a gm 1000 and it doesn’t move around to easy unless the engine is in and I engage the drum
If I move the mower with the engine off I use the front roller. I pick up the rear of the mower and just roll it that way. Its easier in my experience. If you are rolling it on the rear drum make sure the reel is not engaged and that will make it roll easier.
Not only make sure the reel is not engage, but also the drive needs to be disengaged too.
Who do you get to do your spin grind / relief grind in utah? I am looking for someone to do mine.

Do you every get a spin grind on your GreenMaster 1000 reel or only backlap it? I know that Toro recommends a relief grind be performed.
I take it to get the reel to get a fresh grind once a year.
What does that cost?
Where did you get the 1/2 adapter for the backlap?
it's just a regular 1/2 long adapter you would use to extend the socket. Another words it's a half to a long half. The piece inside is square shaped. Their called Drive impact extensions.
