All of these serve as great introductions to the avant-garde moment in world cinema during that troubled decade of the Thirties. A few other titles might include some more experimental animations from Russian expatriate Alexandre Alexeieff and his partner, American expatriate Claire Parker in France, such as the 1933 'Night on Bald Mountain' (a classic illustration of the couple's pioneering pinscreen technique of animation); also 'The Idea', completed in 1932, again in France, by the Bohemian-born Berthold Bartosch, a stylized political allegory. 'La joie de vivre', a 1934 animated short by American Hector Hoppin and British Anthony Gross could also be considered in this context.
It's not for everyone, but Koyaanisqatsi is one of my favorites, the whole trilogy is great. The music alone is absolutely amazing, I love Philip Glass.

I've seen most of Koyaanisqatsi. I was beginning to think I was the only person, in the universe, who knew it existed

I should probably go back and check it out again. It was the music that really sold me on it too
Its 80s
Okay?
Great video - where can you watch these films online
Cael Devers Fandor.com has some Avant Garde films but you have to pay a subscription
The Criterion Channel is really good for many of them. If not that, try UA-cam.
