To answer Chris’s question calander man was not created just for this show. He shows up In tons of Batman media and most recently The Suicide Squad played by Sean Gunn
Every villain that shows up in this show is a character that has been in a comic book or cartoon. No matter how obscure. Even in the second season when a guy shows up that you have never heard of in a million years, that is a character from the comic that was in one issue. You will say now, "who is he talking about?" and then in the second season you'll be like "oh that must be who he's talking about."
Well not every, but the vast, vast majority yeah. They make up one or two for some jokes, like Cock King or the guys Harley tries to hire in episode 3, but pretty much all the others are real.
@@CommanderSteelTrap Is thre an actual Cock King in the show? I remember Clock King and I'm sure they make a joke about that but I don't remember Cock King. Which Episode was that?
I'm a therapist, and yeah, most of us have capital-I issues. Most of us had them before we were therapists, because the two most common answers you hear when you ask people why they became therapists are "a therapist really helped me and I wanted to pass that along" and "no one was there when I needed help so I'm helping others to try to cope." Even for the ones who didn't, you can only witness so much trauma before you develop some of your own. That's why a lot of states require us to be in therapy, and even in ones that don't it is very encouraged.
I love that show, it's so over the top and violent but at the same time, it got some fun discussions under the hood... Probably the best version of Poison Ivy in all media and honestly Alan Tudyk is not a bad Joker !!
Calender Man is a real character. He started off as a goofy Silver Age character until the story Long Halloween made him more of a Hannibal Lecter type. He's actually pretty heavily featured in the Arkham Games
One of the most brilliant things about this show is the way they insert a lot of secondary characters and make them great. Heck, who would have ever predicted 10 years ago that Kite Man would get his own show?
Chris, I’ve literally been waiting for you to watch the show for so many freaking years and I’m over the moon that you’re starting. The amount of obscure DC shit in the show will have you rabbit holing wikipedia so much I swear.
Easily in the running for my favorite Joker and the best thing is no one on the couch could come close to guessing why. (I wouldn't have seen this portrayal coming either!)
My favorite characters are Bane ("That's on them. All they have to do is give me back my pasta-maker if they don't want things to be weird.) and Clayface.
Yo, Navi is right; Joker and Batman have a weird obsession with other that is borderline romantic. It's been explored before that their encounters are some form of dating and they can't live without each other. It's why they never kill each other despite the millions of chances both have had.
10:36 in normal comic continuity, no batman wouldn’t let Harley die, but this show takes a lego batman approach with him and highlights his worst aspects for comedic effect and it works 😂 10:56 yes he is in love with batman lol
People not liking Superman because he’s “too good” really makes me sad. He’s the type of hero that we need now more than ever in our increasingly cynical world. If you don’t believe how interesting Supes can be, watch “Superman & Lois” or “My Adventures With Superman”. Both are incredible and really get why the character matters
They’re commenting with no exposure to the character. That’s like when people say “cyclops is a boring x-men”. I know they have no clue what they are speaking on.
The problem with Superman, and cyclops too, is that the most commonly known versions of him are not written to their full potential. This leads people to think of him as boring, cuz he is so strong he is just going to win. They are unaware of how interesting they can be in the right hands. Batman also suffers from this to a lesser extent, with the whole 'because I'm Batman' trope being used so much. The difference is that there are more mainstream versions of Batman, and a lot of those are very well written
It's the curse of the boy scout leader: Superman (Justice League), Cyclops (X-Men), Leonardo (TMNT), etc... Even Captain America wasn't a popular favorite until the MCU elevated him. Nowadays, his status as a "too good" type of hero is widely beloved.
@@mrbaldy1665 Batman never suffered from it due to being a human. If anything, the "rebel" character tends to be more popular than the leader in a team: Wolverine, Iron Man, Raphael, etc...

Joker is absolutely in love with Batman. It's not like some attempt at shipping, it's a realistic interpretation of their relationship. Less out of a sexual desire but more out of one of codependency.
@@azrael_pendragonpat has said some pretty heinous stuff. i cant remember the specifics bc its been so long but i remember thinking what the fuck and why do the normies still put him in their videos
The entire show is about merging everything a Batman, and DC comics fan, could be aware of. Heavily referential to the original animated series but pulling from pretty much every source to make something very different. I would describe this show as an incredibly modern take on the characters while not ignoring the long history of storytelling the comics has already established.
The Joker shot Batgirl at her apartment because he was after Barbara Gordon. He shot Barbara, took a bunch of explicit photos of her, kidnapped Gordon, chained him up, and made him look at all the photos posted all over a room that he was in the center of. All as a way to "play a prank" on Gordon. Funniest guy in Gotham he says 😬
Killing Joke has not happened in this universe since at this point in time there is no batgirl, but this is definitely the show to try incorporating it well
@@user-be9fn8ch1oYup, he was tryna prove all it takes is “one bad day,” just like Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight claiming “Madness is like gravity; all it takes is a little push,” when he drove Harvey Dent from being Gotham’s white knight into Two-Face.
Hell yeah, Chris! Hop on the couch with Ketty and Rana and watch She-Ra! It's an AMAZING ride IMO. P.S. I am also a black man in his 30s with fairly similar taste!!! 😂
Ahh i love this show so much, its best to think of it like a satire of DC universe. Also pretty sure yall havent done a reaction to The Lego Batman Movie, which I feel like is very similar vibe to this one just not as graphic obviously so I think that would be fun to do as well!
The Harley Quinn Show World is bonkers funny and creative! I can't wait for you guys to see everything this show has to offer. I honestly put this show's world building on a high bar, maybe even next to the DCAU world and Young Justice world.
The first season is really funny and has a lot of out there humor, but it's also a pretty well done showcase of how difficult it can be to leave an abusive relationship behind.
It's telling that it's one of the few decent DC tv shows. A few start off strong but go downhill after about the 2nd season (Arrow for instance) or just suck from the beginning because they have no budget for special effects (Man still shuddering from the first seasons of Flash - and the whole Crisis on Infinite Earth......)
Damn do I love this fucking show, honestly in my opinion one of the best things to ever come out of DC, EVER. It’s just one of those shows where everything fits in so well and they just do things right. It’s kinda like the boys but actually fun lol.

He’s actually a very terrifying character.
