    Well done Carrie.
    11 miles! You put a good shift in👏👏👌
    It didn’t look like summer for you there. Tough year for hikers and views. Hopefully we'll have it good soon. I'm agree with you about completing the full walk.
    Hope your heel is holding up okay.
    Nice video sorry for being slow.
    I'll always catch up.
    Looked like you had a nice pint of cider at the end. Nice😁👍

      Hi Jamie, it was a boggy walk on Dodd Fell, probably one I'll never return to! But still good to tick off another peak in the Dales challenge :D Always good to finish a walk with a cold one :D

      It was hard walking over the boggy open moorland, tough going- still, it's cheaper than a gym membership! :D

      Yeah, there's a big difference between the amount of people in the dales compared to the peaks unless you go over to the Y3P area that is. I'll put Dragon's Back on the list, cheers :D

    I'm playing catch-up a bit Carrie. I must say I like a spot of bog bashing-it's like we dance across the land from one spot to another if you get my meaning. Totally agree with not cheating - many drive half way up a mountain and then walk. No! The mountain starts down there. Well, a fantastic day - loved that walled garden. Ha ha! All the best. Mark

      Not sure about dancing across the land! I was just sinking in to the bog :D Cheers

    Alport castles is a pretty walk or along Derwent edge. ❤ The Peak District.
    I’m doing the Dales 30 and when I did Dodd and wether the crossings on the summits were horrendous with bogs. Took ages to get across to the trig but such a beautiful walk.

      Hi Pauline, thanks for the suggestion. Yeah it was pretty boggy up there, I wouldn't like to try it in winter conditions that's for sure!

    A great hike Carrie.Snaizehome is where the red squirrels are yes. Was up on that hike again a couple of weeks ago photographing some of the Montane Spine runners.

    Oh we were at Hawes about 9 days ago and had a real good and warm day and that looked a great walk from there, despite the overcast weather. Plenty of omens on that trail, only need to look at the skies but still the higher you got the better the views got. I am always aware of nesting birds at this time of the year, especially with size 11 flippers but they camouflage themselves so well that is sometime difficult. Great looking trig with nice views but I hate walking off road without a clear path. Although I am not too keen on road walking when it is a old Roman Road - that's different, those roads always blow my mind, especially when it is one of the Roman Roads in the lakes. That footpath between the two stone walls......Yikes! The buttercup meadow was much more acceptable and a great place to finish 11 miles and in the dry too. I could suggest plenty of Lake District walks but totally lost in the Peak District, cheers Alan

      @carriehikes  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi Alan, I was worried about stepping on some poor bird's nest up there! By heck it was boggy! I'm not too bad with the Lake District, it's just the Peaks I'm not familiar with. I'm thinking of starting a round of Wainwrights once I've finished up the Dales 30. Road walking hurts the feet after a while but I was happy to walk on it after that deep bog on Dodd Fell- I didn't film how bad it was because I was concentrating so much on getting out of it! :D
