It's not about talent actually, it's about funds and number of athletes that can be chosen. The 4 best countries in women gymnastics are China, Romania, Russia, USA.Except for Romania all others are world powers and have a huge population.In comparision Romania has about 20 million inhabitants. Also add the fact that the country is among the poorest in the EU. It's a great achievement for us when we are able to still count in the gymnastics world when there are many variables stact against us.
This NBC broadcasting of the olympics sucks! They don't show Romania at all! All it is is America America America and Russia (because they aren't doing very well). UGH! I have to find it on youtube and stuff. Many thanks for posting this! I'm glad they got the bronze! Woo hoo!
Americans did a great job. But they were like, over scored? I mean, yes, they were good, and they're still good but, Romania also did an amazing job here. Congratulations, Romania. I always enjoy watching your gymnasts perform! Oh yeah and, the people booed Catalina Ponor's low score. She did almost perfect!!

Romania is strong in women's gymnastics, at every olympic games in the past 30+ years this country wins at least one gold medal. And the medals on team events reflects a strong tradition in romanian gymnastics.

That's what I think,too. The referres were less objective than it should, but we still are proud of doing very honest and good job, despite their scores :). Buut! today, Sandra Izbasa proved that Romanian Gymnastics School is one of the great ones and won GOLD at Vaults for Romania!! Thank you Sandra!

Whenever I watch these olympic gymnastic events, there's one point that I've been wondering about. Why is it that their uniforms expose the legs like that? Does it help with movement somehow? And if so why not expose the arms as well, given that some stunts depend on them? Could someone explain this to me?
Yeah, comparing to the number of people Romania and USA have...I wouldn't be so pround. I mean...2 awesome gymnsast at 20 121 641 people...and...5 awesome gymnasts (Why are they, after all? I only remeber Mckayla and Aly.) 313.900.000 people. Oh my god, you should be so proud!
Nadia actually got 7 perfect 10s =) And she's not the coach. Here coach, Marta Karolyi, is the national team coordinator the US. The national training center is at the Karolyi ranch in TX, but the girls are trained in their home gyms.
The differences between Catalina's floor at qualification and floor final (second and third skills) were wrongs (second and third skills) or changes at routine?
it was obvious: romania wins vault, china beam, russia bars... how could they let usa without gold? bastards. also, catalina made a wonderful beam without any balance check on the team finals and got around 15.400. some american made a worse beam exercise and had the same score. i'm not an expert, but her difficulty didn't look higher, either. think about it
I hate to break it to you, but there IS an artistry score: 1.1 points of deductions on women's Floor and 0.8 on Beam included in the Execution score. Raisman was ridiculously over-scored on Floor and I thought Douglas was over-scored during AA. On the other hand, USA deserved to win Team and Weiber was somewhat under-scored.

Just good tumbling, nothing else. Boring! Ponor with an amazing program scored 15.200. The public booed, sad. In Nadia's time Soviets got bonuses, now, it's the same thing...a different recipient.
Can someone please tell me if they were booing Aly or if they were just booing Ponor's low score? Because no matter what you're opinion is, Aly worked just as hard as all of them and didnt deserve to be booed for her amazing effort! love you aly xxxxx

In the case of Ponor and the rest of the Romanians, the Americans have more difficulty and also in some cases executed better. In Ponor's case, I know, it looked perfect, but still, she would've needed to only get .6 off in execution to have won. And she kinda was a bit sloppy in the air with her twists in the air, but that isn't what is at hand. My point, it doesn't matter how well you perform, because
