    What you said about turning the shoulders was a revelation for me. For a while now, I've been aware that for some reason, I need to start my arms moving before anything else happens in the downswing in order to hit solid shots, but I didn't understand why. But now, it makes perfect sense, and I feel pretty stupid for not realizing it earlier. I think for some reason, I have a tendency to "spin" my shoulders really fast, which makes it nearly impossible for me to get an in-to-out path.

      It's really important to learn the roles of the body parts and not just do things because the pros do themt this way you can be ready to hit the shot you want when you are on the course!

      I did a swing evaluation the other day. I have a big out to in swing path. I do the same thing with my shoulders. My shoulders start moving with a big turn before anything else happens. In my lesson he gave me a few things to try. You wouldn't believe my before and after results already. If you can I highly recommend a swing evaluation.

    Went googling for this very issue - how to get myself swinging more in-to-out when I've moved the ball up in my stance for longer irons and woods. Ended up quickly right back here, where I'd been before, soon after acquiring the Mevo+ PP. Now realize that I didn't really "get" the Swing H° stuff, even though I remember seeing a couple of other "hoola-hoop" demos of *where* on the hoop the "Swing H" lies. At least I didn't "get" why it might "matter".
    I guess I (wrongly) locked it into my mind that the Swing H "spot" on said hoop naturally and "always" lies *after* where the "path number" is recorded/measured (unless you hit it fat or drop-kicked it). When Scott showed his numbers with the Swing H number being more "R" than what the "path" number was (also R), I *knew* something was wrong. Took me a while to figure out that it was my *understanding* was what was wrong. The definitions of the two points cover it, but I hadn't properly considered all the possible relationships.
    Bottom line, the way I came to look at it is that those two spots "trade places" on the hoola hoop when the contact point comes *after* the low point. Maybe that will help somebody else with understanding what changes - and why - when contact is made "after" the low point in the swing has been reached. *All* my "H's" had been "L's" since acquiring the Mevo, regardless of whether the path had been R or L, so I found no reason to keep checking it. Didn't help that there's not room under the ceiling to swing clubs much longer than a 7 iron on the lanai. . .
    Scott also answered my original question about how to swing in-to-out when the ball is more up in my stance. I've been using a "Ferris wheel" analogy for my shoulders' swing thought - as if my shoulders are practically acting in a perfectly vertical plane (only "feels" that way). I just point my Ferris wheel a bit to the right. I *do* find that I have to then make a greater effort to keep the back of my neck more "parallel to the ground" (or the bill of my cap pointing more down) in order to successfully make that Ferris wheel act right. 🙂

    Great video Scott. This was the first thing I worked on after adding the Pro package, getting my shoulders sending the club path where I wanted it. So awesome to see that feedback right away on every shot.
    I’m really happy with everything but low point. I’m not sure that I’m upset about it, but apparently I must be ready to challenge the Tour in that category. I’m consistently 3-7” ahead of the ball with wedges and short irons, even with playing with angle of attack, ball to Mevo+ distance, etc. Hoping to get outside today and hit some drivers, I hit up 5-6 degrees normally so hoping to see what that looks like on low point.

      @VoodooZ 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah. I'm averaging 4" and my AOA is matching PGA average with a 7iron... so I guess I'm not hanging back as much as I thought I did! We're going to need a whole lot of those videos to decipher all those mysteries.. :D I'm especially interested in the various inter-relationships between the metrics.. Might have brush off on that D plane again..

      I did go to the range today and hit outdoors for the first time this year. I would say low point looked pretty good on real grass with irons. Driver angle of attack and low point also looked good.

      The wifey and I ended up with our first Androids after a recent move and needed switch of carriers - and free, new phones. 🙂 After getting our Mevo+, we now own our first iPad. The Androids and Mevo+ do not play nice - *and* the freebie E6 stuff that comes with the Mevo - IIRC - doesn't do Android, at all.

    very nice explanation.. Do you use FTT vs FTP metrics? I started noticing mine are both way too closed... my swing path is much more neutral that I ever thought but my damn face is always way too closed at impact... And that's with various grip changes... Is it possible my grip is moving in backswing?!? It might explain why I get so many holes in the palm pad area.. It's driving me insane.. Whatever grip I take (and I'm considering the effect of balance between each hands), I can feel turning more closed when I relax my grip a bit at address...

    • @scotthogangolf
      @scotthogangolf  2 роки тому +1

      Could be grip, I am going to do the club face next on Monday, but also could be your takeaway and how you are moving the golf club throughout the swing.

    • @thescarn882
      @thescarn882 2 роки тому

      I would look at your lead hand at impact. If the back of your hand isn’t point at target then I would start there. With even a weak grip if you rotate those hand enough it could make the face closed.

      @@thescarn882 I used to have a weakish lead hand which caused the trail hand to take over but I've since strengthened my lead hand (2.5 knuckles) and I still can't get the darn grip to cooperate.

      On top of that I think something is wrong with my radar or setup because even straight shots (start line anyways in impact screen) it reports excessive paths to the left and FTP that are way closed.. arghhhh Hard to trust the damn numbers..

    So was it the more down you hit (aoa) the more left your club path will be? Or the opposite? Sorry.
    And do you have a general rule of thumb when club path is too much? Example 5 degrees and less is manageable but more than that may exaggerate misses too much?
    Thanks

    • @E46Nova
      @E46Nova 2 роки тому +1

      The steeper the AOA, the more the path will be in to out. (to the right) The more you hit up on the ball ie. Driver, the more out to in your path will be.

    • @seanbecker8328
      @seanbecker8328 2 роки тому +2

      @@E46Nova no that’s not a given at all, you can still have a positive angle of attack and a in to out swing path, pWhat he’s saying is the difference between club path and horizontal swing plane, horizontal swing path is measured at the low point so basically measured at a 0.0 AoA. The club path will be more the the right COMPARED to the horizontal swing plane the more down you hit, you can hit down and have a negative(left) swing path and you can have a positive Aoa and still swing in to out.

    • @gregmaland5318

      I felt this was the most confusing information in this video. I have heard many people talk about how a steep AOA is associated with an OUT-To-IN path. And also many people talk about shallowing out the club in order to be more IN-To-OUT. So, I think many of us are unsure what Scott is really saying here.

The last update is in 2020 and I think mostly for Pros and not for Mevo product line.. I remember them saying they were eventually going to merge FSGolf and FS Skills apps.
