- I am releasing this CLASSIC 1998 interview with Tim Ripper Owens & Glenn Tipton (online for the FIRST time) in lieu of ALL the buzz surrounding the band's NEW release, 'Firepower' & Glenn's untimely retirement from touring. Completed here in San Antonio at the Far West Rodeo during the band's tour in support of 'Jugulator' you will see/hear the guys talk about a variety of topics to include: continuing Priest despite Rob Halford's departure, how Travis Scott Fans discovered Ripper, how Glenn's goal musically is to ALWAYS progress (& how his 12 year old son (at the time) helps him accomplish that); where the name 'Ripper' came from & much more! After viewing this interview again after so many years - I must admit I like it A LOT (despite the fact that I was quite a heavier 'lad' at the time),...but it is very informative & insightful & you will see that Glenn (& Ripper) are in GREAT spirits - enjoying glasses of red wine, laughing & joking even tho Glenn's English humor was a bit beyond me. Anyhoot,..I hope you enjoy this SPECIAL one out of the RMW Archive! May it help us ALL remember a time when the Priest persevered through a tough period in time (& that Ripper helped make that happen in an AMAZING way). Now, with the band's future once again at a crossroads may we relish in the metallic moments we've shared with them in the past. May this interview help in that endeavor. ~ El Mero Metal
