Darts could also be seen as sports entertainment in my view. Unlike pro wrestling it is a legitimate, competitive sport. But a lot of the appeal of professional Darts is from the crowd interaction, the pagantry, the walk on music, and the players characters and nicknames. You even have some players who elicit boos and jeers from the audience by doing what would be called in wrestling as "Heel" tactics. The Welsh player Gerwyn Pryce is a good example of this. The game itself is fun to watch on TV and to play. But in an arena of 10,000 people. Most will have trouble picking out the players on the stage, let alone the board. You don't really go to watch the darts. You go with friends and family to drink, have fun, dress up in fancy dress, maybe get yourself and your sign on TV. And just to have a great night out and be entertained. And as much as I love the darts, pro wrestlers are infinitely more athletic than darts players. If darts is a sport, than so is pro wrestling. But unlike most sports, with darts and pro wrestling. The fans are thier more to be entertained, and don't care as much as they would at say a soccer or hockey game. About who wins and who loses.
