What really puts you in the world of Ed as he explores is the original music score. Please return to it and not the youtube library. The music gives this channel it's emotions and vibe. Major part of the experience.
Many thanks for your comment. I struggle sometimes to create something original. That doesn't mean that the music in this video doesn't work, because it works big-time.
Hi Eddie, My pal Sam lived in brigton with his maw, it was on the top floor of a tenement, he cut a hole through the ceiling in his bedroom and made a doocot in the loft. Then of course he had to cut a hole through the roof of the tenement to make the flap to flee his doos.
Well I never! We had loads of doocots around when I was young and they did racing pigeons, didn't realise that they knocked them up like that on any available space, surprised they are so lenient but pleased as well, Cheers Ed
My cousin Daniel kept pigeons on a drawer in house in Drumchapel, his mum went crazy and my mum gave him permission to build a Doocot in our back garden in Clydebank. he had it for a couple of years. Great video, keep up the good work.
Ed, I quite enjoy your videos and commentaries. To me, it's like encountering a knowledgeable Scotsman while out hiking, or when leaning on the bar, having a pint. I laughed at this bit with your choice of music, as people cycled by the doocots - CLASSIC! Be well pal!
Wowww, I love this! 😊. Really interesting, that there's so much variety in them. And I totally get that sense of freedom you're talking about 👍. Cool vid, thanks for sharing!
I knew of a chap that had a great idea of teaching pigeons to fly under water. He started an initial training program with twenty pigeons. Eighteen just couldn't make the cut and drowned. Two got away looking very wet and afraid. He thought he should try with smaller birds like sparrows which would have lesser water displacement. However, he was stopped. He didn't go to gaol but was given community service duties, but had to keep away from pigeons and sparrows. I don't know what he does now for a living.
Hi Ed, this fascinating hobby is something I seen before on a BBC documentary called Dooman. A glimpse into a weird world of some bizarre characters, worth a watch I must say. Interesting buildings Ed and a video that is very different from your normal stuff. We'll done pal All the best Ed and take care .
I've not been along that path. The more off road paths that we have the merrier. There's a doocot beside a farm building near me, but I dont think that its been used for decades. Very interesting video. 👍👍👍
Kept doo,s for years in Edinburgh the one’s that I caught were put through to Glasgow with us having a syndicate were the guys in other housing schemes in Edinburgh giving them to our Glasgow friends brilliant hobby plenty fresh air and people talking face to face a lot better mentally and physically than sitting indoors on a PlayStation
@@vacantcontentment8863 Think it's the same guy. He was 1st block upper flat coming in from Hawick Street. Other doo men were Archie Mcdonald Robert Gavin Dougie Magee Harry Milton Ian Luke Ian Carson + the Langy flyers
3:20 In fact….. shipbuilding in the area (yoker, scotstoun, govan) is bustling. There has actually been part of the Clyde filled in to build a massive frigate housing/factory
You're not wrong, but in the past there were many different shipbuilding yards, and the number of men employed would have been far greater than at present.
@@EdExploresScotland yes of course. I was brought up in Yoker. I spent the late 70s and early 80s there. A tough but good place. I know those ducats well
I visited yoker once. Best day of my life.

Fascinating. Had no idea there were so many 'Doocots' along the cycle-path.
Used to see these all over Glasgow, a lot in Maryhill, on cleared areas.

I'm always up and down this path on my electric unicycle... Was wondering what the pigeon frenzy was all about heh
Thought you were kidding about the electric unicycle until I saw your channel. Novel way to get about.
