People tell me my Zerode Katipo is weird - when I slow down enough to chat 😂
How about the Millyard DH bike? Not so much weird now but at the time it was way ahead with the whole gearbox idea!
Living close to and visiting the Marin museum of bicycling somewhat frequently I have seen my share of unique bikes over the years.
Still the focus big bird, dirty sixxer and everything else with 36 inch wheels. Would be fun to check how hard/ easy it is to build a 29/36 mullet given 36 inch unicycles are somewhat more affordable than those and basically a fork with a seat

That Black Math Bike is the coolest bike I've seen in maybe ever! There is genuinely something to that convertible idea! Takes the idea of a flip chip and the dropper post (not often thought about but makes 2 geometries 1 bike too) to a whole new level.
I’m a fan too. I really think a light weight EMTB version would rule.

Leading the Dirt Shed Show off with an e-bike, several e-bike videos on the channel in the last few weeks, e-bikes in the news, e-bikes in the main talking point, Neil building a downhill e-bike and telling us to watch this space. What’s the deal guys? Is this now EMBN 2? There’s been more e-bike content than actual bike content on this channel of late.

the rear shock is probably attatched to a very high tensile rubber elastomer shaped like leaf springs

Speaking of cross country, Corratec Racebow from late 90s
Loved it. A friend of mine used to ride for them (Oliver Grossman) and his Trials Bowbike was ace.
The Trek Full Stache was a mad bike, might not look as out there bizarre as some, but put it alongside any other bike and the 29+ wheels look insane 😅

I say use an old school accordian style fork boot for a dropper post dust cover. It would look better then that.

I'd love the wild to be released as a DH ebike. Not everywhere with great DH runs has a chairlift.

I'm sorry, but that orbea is a solution looking for a problem. It's the mtb equivalent of buying a house with a fully fitted kitchen, then ripping the kitchen out and cooking over an open firepit in the middle of the room.
I think, much they're all very clever people, the solution they're looking for is called a "mountain bike."
Crazy, I know, but it might just catch on..........
I think its a new approach to a DH trend appearing a while ago. You may have heard of DH racers attaching lead weights to their bikes to make them heavier and thus more stable? They are saying modern DH bikes have become just too light and the lack of stability has been hurting racing times rather than doing the opposite. I think they wanna find out if the weight of an ebike, and also the placement of that weight may actually be the sweetspot they are trying to hit.

Oreba used an Ebike frame for that DH bike because it gave them the room to make a lockable bottom bracket. It can be locked by the rider so the pedals won’t move, when pedaling isn’t needed and it can be unlocked when the rider needs to pedal. In the locked position, it gives the rider much more control and stability on the bike.
Would that not negatively impact the suspension?
@@znon_ No, it would have no impact on the suspension.
@@Canyon_Shawn how though because any chain growth that would normally result in pedal kickback would instead stop the suspension from moving?
@@znon_There’s not enough to worry about in a modern suspension system. I haven’t felt pedal kickback since the late ‘90s.

Helmet mounted impact sensors are interesting, but they should be planned as an extra tool within a robust concussion protocol. You can't determine concussion by head acceleration, but medical staff could do an extra check for someone who has a really high number on the HMI sensor but isn't already being checked, like an extra set of eyes on the course says this athlete took a hard hit and we should check them out. Clearly the threshold has to be set appropriately so you don't drive everyone crazy
Unless a Dr pops outta that thing like a genie its worthless. who cares how bad it was your either concussed or you aren't that meter isn't changing a gd thing unless it teleports you to the hospital.
@@nickbrandt5248 for most people casually riding, sure. But for teams and elite competitors, I think they will be using it differently
The new Honda Ebike is weird with all the plastics you have the Bultaco it's that thing shown here with plastics and grab handle and the other one it's more emtb like but a concept still all plastics though

A DH ebike makes more sense than any the other ebike. DH bikes suck at climbing and most DH riders hate the climb part. With a DH ebike, we would be able to session the DH track and save our energy for the fun descents!
they have tried this for years... Apparently the suspension linkage suffers a lot. Spez Kenevo is basically this and it will rip in half after any kind of real use. Only a princess has a kenevo last more than 1 month.
