  • So...it's been 19 months later in ownership of the Citroen. My honest opinion of this unusually; yet somewhat loveable, quirky rogue...

    I just bought an 18 plate flair version yesterday and love it. I read so many negative comments from reviewers saying the air con was a pain and it’s vague to drive. I haven’t found any issues with the drive or the air con. The screen is big enough to navigate the controls with a quick touch. Like you say it’s brilliant on the motorway too. I think it’s always best to listen to people like yourself who live with the car on a daily basis rather than a lot of the so called car reviewers who are paid to promote certain brands. Great review by the way 👍

      Thanks. I agree. I think I had seen the same negative comments...but same; just didn't find any of them true. It's a brilliant car. It absolutely loves the motorway and long haul drives. It's the first car I've ever owned where I've gone from Lancs to Scotland and back, then Lancs to Cornwall and back. Just so comfortable for journey's. Definitely a good purchase. Don't regret it one bit. Enjoy. 😃

    Really helpful to get the views of a real life owner - as opposed to motoring journalists who just go through the usual formulaic checklist. Many thanks!

    Great review, Rob. Just ordered myself an Aircross Shine Plus auto to replace the ancient Berlingo. Your vid answered a lot of the questions I needed answers to. Nice one mate, greetings from Wirral 👍🏻

      That's great. Thanks. ... Both myself and Melissa have a lot of love for these cars. We've just traded our In, so we can get the faster 110 puretech engine ... but got to confess we were sad to part ways with our blue one. Lots of good drives and memories.

      Guess you dient pay 10K for the new one? 82pk or 110 pk makes a lot of difference he?

    I bought a new 1.2 turbo, 6 speed ‘Feel’ model here in Ireland 12 months ago. 13,000 km covered so far.
    Different model designations to UK but it’s the mid range spec.
    I agree with this revue. An excellent, comfortable cruiser. Reliable, no squeaks or rattles and everything working as it should.
    And yes, that 3 cylinder engine is remarkable; better in fact than some of the more obvious competitors.
    So far no problems or issues at all and a joy to own.

    Hi Rob and Mel, loved your review, I'm picking up my new C3 Aircross In December. I'm confused by the screen heater buttons you pointed out, is the front screen electricly heated?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  2 роки тому

      Great your getting an Aircross. Enjoy. So, all the heater controls are mainly stored on the touch screen. There is however two physical buttons. One for the rear window demister ...and the other is for the front ( but it just puts the fans to full blast & aimed at the front window ) ....I guess it's just a button for winter, when the front window starts to mist up and you start panicking. A quick 'got to' button, rather than thumbing with the touch screen.
      It's a great car. If you do a lot of motorway trips then it'll soak up the miles in comfort. Love ours 👍

    It's so great seeing a real world review, thank you! We are looknig to replace our skoda yeti (which they don't make anymore) and I've seen a few of these around and really love how they look and the comfort thing is very appealing. 20 years ago I'd have wanted somethign I could chuck around corners, but these days comfort and good MPG and safety are number 1! We will do motorway driving occasionally, maybe 4-5 times a year, the fact you say it's good on the motorway is great. How are you getting on with it, still going strong? I saw you said you'd go for the 110 engine over the one you have now, do you still feel the same? Thank you!

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Рік тому +2

      Hi. Thanks for the nice comments. The car is still going strong and been very reliable. Just one small issue after making that video, but was quickly fixed by a new light sensor being fitted. Cheap to insurance and cheap to run.
      I would still recommend the 110 engine over the 82 one. We find the 82 brilliant on the motorway, but just sometimes around town in lower gears it can be a bit slow off a stop, and not as refined as you'd find the 110 ( which would be smoother ). Definitely very comfortable.
      Oh...and I would definitely recommend the 17" alloy wheels over the smaller 16" alloy wheels. On the 16" it's a bit more rolley on corners, but riding on the larger 17" alloys there is a nicer mix of comfortable, but better road handling. A bit more composed.
      If you can get a 110 petrol on 17" wheels then it's a good car. And prices are decent also. 💕👍

      We got ours new as a pre reg with only 7 miles on the clock. We were really lucky £9895. Now the price of the car market has rocketed ( after COVID ). To get our car again now it would be atleast 17,000 new. Prices have rocketed sadly over the last 24 months. Definitely keeping hold of ours for a while longer 🙂

    Thank you for the video. I had engine failure recently on a 2016 C3 Picasso. Gutted. Loved it for camping 🏕. Now viewing this car. How is this car for engine oil usage, technical faults, in other words any problems you have incurred with your vehicle. What plate did you get? Does this cope with hills?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Рік тому +1

      Hi. Great car for camping. Honest opinion is this: Oil usage is fine. Never had to top it up. Only faults at 17k miles which did cause slight concern was 1) wouldn't start....turned out to be a faulty automatic light sensor which drained off the battery. Replaced under warranty 2) warning lights came on ( literally every warning light) which turned out to be a one off oddity which never ever happen again...like it lost 'earth' or something so freeked out. Citroen were rubbish and admitted they didn't know what was wrong. It never happened again after that. Genuinely drives good. Loves the motorway. For hills definitely get the more powerful 110ps engine. I have the 82bh engine which I find fine, but it is the slowest of the engine range. Loads of storage. Good on fuel too. Would buy it again, but that more powerful engine.

      @@poppypicanto Thank you for your time and reply. I view the car today and will be test driving both with regards to the more powerful engine. I do, do a lot of motorway driving, 😁
      I have made a note of what you said, for reference. I do like the Citerons so this will be a upgrade from the C3 Picasso.
      I managed to obtain a full refund due to not owning the C3 Picasso long. It burnt lots of oil. Turned out engine was shot. Luckily went to decent showroom so no issues. I will be taking out an extended warranty. So hoping if I go ahead with this model. No major issues. As have had a headache with the C3 picasso and that drove lovely. Loved the car, just got the dodgy one, my luck.
      Your review has been helpful and input. Have subscribed.
      Stay blessed. Any plans for you two to do winter camping? I might in this vehicle if all goes well.
      P.s read steering light and it rolls, leans turning corners, also doesn't slow down quickly in lower gear? Did you find this?

    • @poppypicanto
      @poppypicanto  Рік тому +1

      The aircross loves the motorway. I feel it's at its the most comfortable and happiest with cruise contro onl soaking up the miles easy. I did Highlands one month, then lands end the next...literally end to end and it was fine.
      its not the best with the small twisty country roads as the suspension set up is soft for comfort which is very much typical Citroen. I'm on 16" wheels, so think if I upgraded to 17" then it might be a bit firmer and less leany possibly. It's a good job that your garage gave you the refund on the Picasso without too much of a challenge.
      I got the extended warranty and was happy with the price. Year 3 to 4 was £219 which I thought was a good price and years 4 to 5 went up to £279 a year. Good for peace of mind, and I had the light sensor done under warranty free of charge.

      @@poppypicanto Thank you for all the advice and tips. I am definitely taking the warranty out on it, but costs where I am a bit more pricey £395 for 1 year and 2 year £550. It is steep, but peace of mind.
      I drove it at the weekend, it was very nippy in terms of pressing on the gas. I also enjoyed the light steering and how eager it was to pull off. Inside was however a lot more snug compared to the C3 Picasso cabin, not as bright and spacious, but managable.
      Happy too garage gave money back without hassle. I just need to get use to it. Should be sorted soon with car. Will keep you updated.
      Planning a winter camp in it soon myself.
