    Any idea why the locos were push/pulling the EMU's - was there a diversion in place?

      No, they worked those sets for a period of time on the Waterloo to Bournemouth services prior to the introduction of the then new Wessex 442 units.

      The class 442 units reused some of the traction equipment from the REP units so there was a period where some of the REPs were withdrawn before their replacements were available. Loco hauled TC stock filled the gap.
